AJ nodded in understanding. She couldn't really say much more about the subject, because she had the same problem. She was nervous about forming relationships with others and her power ruining it or causing complications. Which was similar to what Gabe had to fear. They were in a similar boat. "I get it, Gabe. That's why I don't want to hang around so many people. I don't want to take the risk of someone touching me." It happening in public was the most embarrassing of all.
She just wished that she and Gabe could overcome what their powers had made them so paranoid of. They were both so hesitant, choosing to stay stuck somewhere instead of actually moving.
"Does anybody even know what color your eyes are?" she asked curiously, finding the idea amusing. She didn't even know. She pegged him for green though.

"My mother," Gabe said with a chuckle. "Well I guess most of my family. But besides that not really," Gabe explained. His niece constantly took his glasses off and wore them herself. She thought they were great. But his family didn't really appreciate when he used his power on them. Even if it wasn't his intention.
"Hazel... by the way," Gabe told her. "In case you actually wanted to know. Kind of green and brown." He scribbled a couple things down in his notebook, "And now you're the only one who really knows," he joked with her. A couple of people in the school had seen his eyes, but never really NOTICED them because they were too busy being charmed. It was weird to think about the fact that nobody had seen his eyes.

AJ nodded. It must be so weird to think about nobody really knowing what color your eyes were. Looking somebody in the eyes was something that was supposed to be powerful, but with Gabe, you couldn't unless you were charmed, in which case, you probably wouldn't remember his eyes later.
"Hazel..." she said with a smile, nodding. "I was about to say that I could see you with green eyes, so I was close. But mine are hazel too." It was nice to know, even if she'd never seen them. To know somebody for years, but not know their eye color was strange. "I am honored to be the first to know what color your eyes are," she joked.

"I know what color YOUR eyes are AJ," Gabe told her with a laugh. Of course she knew that, but the fact that she decided to point out that they had similar eye color amused Gabe and a wide grin spread across his face. He shook his head, "But yeah... hazel... it's weird I've never really considered the fact that people don't really see my eyes. Even when they look at them." He wrinkled his nose. He wasn't even sure if he had a picture of himself without his glasses on. Since middle school he had been accustom to wearing them almost all the time. So only really old pictures of him might show his true eye color.

AJ laughed along with Gabe at her pointing out the obvious. "It's just that....someone's eye color is supposed to be something obvious. People say it's one of the first things you notice about a person. But when everyone looks at you, it's your sunglasses they see first." She knew she was rambling, but they were all observations and relevant to the subject at least.
She looked down at her notebook again., writing a few more words that made a faint smile appear on her lips. This essay was going to be like writing a fantasy novel. At least AJ was good at that. She had quite an imagination.

Gabe shrugged. "Well then at least they're getting a look at the real me, and not whatever my power makes them see," Gabe said. He fully believed that his glasses had pretty much become a part of him and a part of his identity at this point. Most of his teachers knew why he wore them and couldn't say anything about it. He used it as a way to express himself with the different colors and quirky style. It had become Gabe.
He looked over to AJ and smiled at her smile, glad she could at least lightheartedly take the assignment thanks to his suggestion. It made him decide to start his as well. "What do you think about me writing an essay about how my power can be used to benefit me, but I'm still not going to use it that way?"

"True. I guess your sunglasses are pretty much your eyes at this point," AJ agreed with a nod. They were his identifier and it was a way for Gabe to show who he was through the colors. He made it fun for himself instead of just a way to conceal his eyes from others so his power wouldn't affect them.
"I think it's a good idea. It shows that you are aware of possible benefits of your power, but you don't want to use them. Still shows knowledge." She shrugged, glad that Gabe didn't use his powers to his advantage. In the wrong hands, his powers could be used to boost someone's ego by a ten fold. AJ's powers could be used to her advantage as well, that is if she wanted to have sex all the time, but that just wasn't her...at all. So in a way, maybe their powers had been dealt to the right people who wouldn't abuse them. That didn't make it suck any less though.

"Cool. Because... you know I want to be a singer and I could SO easily use my power to skyrocket to the top... but... that's not right. It's not fair and I want people to like my music for what it is, not whatever they see in my eyes," Gabe said with a laugh. He looked up at the clock. There wasn't too much time left in the class period, but enough to cause him to groan. "Uhg, this class always takes way too long. I just want to get out of here." He was anxious to get up and go, like usual. This time to go and study with Mikayla. Although he didn't love the idea of studying, he had plans on asking her on a date, and his heart beat faster ever time he thought about how to ask her.
He turned to AJ for now though, looking for something else to distract him. "So what's your story about?"

"And that, Gabriel, is what makes you a good person," AJ pointed out, a smile on her face as she used his full name. She understood that having a power was fun...well for some people anyway, but taking advantage of people and using it to make yourself look better was selfish. It wasn't as if AJ had a use for her power, but she couldn't imagine using it to....sleep with people just for her own amusement. She wrinkled her nose at the thought.
"Don't remind me. This is why I purposely do not look at the clock," she said. She knew it took forever to end because neither of them liked to be there. Especially writing some bullshit paper about the 'good uses' of their powers.
She looked up to meet his gaze from where she'd been writing furiously in her notebook. "How I so bravely use my power to relieve some socially awkward guys of their virginity, so that they will no longer be made fun of by their friends. Although I think it's kind of flawed...since there's that whole thing about them not remembering..." she trailed off, laughing at the idea. AJ wasn't really comfortable talking about sex and such, but it was unavoidable with her power. It just brought up thoughts of earlier years and boys that wouldn't remember her as they tried to shed her of her clothes.

"I'm not that great," Gabe said modestly. But sometimes he could tell the difference between him and other guys. Most guys would probably try to use his power to get girls in bed, or to become instantly famous, or wealthy. Gabe just wanted to be normal. And his powers would never let him acquire that.
Gabe laughed at AJs plot and said, "Now see, you're great for wanting to relieve all the poor awkward virgins of their misery." The idea was something Gabe would have come up with, and didn't think AJ would joke around with her power that way, but it was nice to see her having some fun with it. "I think my mind is starting to rub off on you AJ, that's something I would come up with."

"You are great," AJ assured him. "Maybe we have these powers because we're not going to use them for our own gain..." she mused. "Although I guess these powers should just not exist at all." Things would be easier that way. AJ felt as if she was being punished rather than blessed, but it did help to poke fun at her power a bit, and write about it in a creative, ridiculous manner.
"I know, right? If I can help awkward virgins, I'd be a saint." She laughed and it felt good, simple. Gabe was good at making her laugh. "I think so too. Your humor does help me get through my days though. Makes it easier to look at things, rather than taking them so harshly. You know?"

"I'm glad," Gabe said looking over at AJ with a charming smile. "And if you're ever feeling particularly down, you know where to find me. And if I'm not in the music room then I might be dead so call for help," Gabe's tone turned serious toward the end of his statement, which only made his joke funnier. "We have to look out for eacher, you know. Because... you and me... we get it. A lot of people don't and it's always good to have even just one person who understands - even slightly-what you're going through..." He paused and looked over at AJ with a smile. "I'm glad its you," he admitted as the bell signaling the end of class rang.

"Thanks Gabe," AJ said, grateful to have him as a friend. She laughed, hoping that she would always find him in the music room. "We do get it. And I'm really thankful that I have someone who even remotely understands me and this ridiculous power." At least she had a friend, and someone to look out for her. She couldn't help but smile at him as the bell rang and she began tossing her things into her backpack, standing up and heaving the bag over her shoulder. "Hey, uhm," she began, rocking from one foot to the other. "Good luck with Mikayla," she told him. "She'll swoon over your musical talent."
