"I don't know...but that....this week has been way too crazy," Jade concluded, running a hand through her black hair and letting it fall down around her face. She was lucky to be alive. It was almost funny how she'd almost joined the dead. Almost. She spent more time among them anyway. Darik was a nice change to that though, she had to admit.
"I....thank you," she said, realizing her heart was still beating rapidly. She reached into her pocket, squeezing the bullet which had almost ended her life. She didn't know why, but it was almost as if it calmed her down. Maybe it was because it was something that was supposed to kill her, but didn't. She knew that Darik must have thought it odd that she picked it up and she couldn't quite explain it either, but Jade was also very much about documenting her life and this bullet was now a part of it.
"It's about time you told him thank you!" Lanie was still shaken, standing in between them both. "Darik, thank you so much for saving my sister. I wasn't ready to have her join me." She wanted to hug him, but as a spirit she knew she couldn't. "That was amazing what you did!"

"I ... I couldn't let you die," Darik admitted to her softly. "I just met you, and you're a really cool person to be around." He will admit, she was so awesome to be around. She wasn't normal, yes, but neither was he. Besides, she was the only person who didn't think he was lame because he was shy the first time she met him. Though he bet, in his head, that she was thinking of something similar when she met him.
He looked to where he heard Lanie's voice and smiled weakly. "Like I said, I couldn't let her leave." Darik leaned back in the chair he was sitting in as he let out a slow breath, trying to calm his heart rate to a speed where a heart attack isn't at risk. His fingers ran through his dark brown hair and sighed, finally relaxing his body. "I think that was the most scared I've ever been since that time when I was almost ran over ..."

"It's just...it's funny how your life can end so quickly, you know? Because some guys got high off of drugs or who knows what else, I almost just died." You could control your own fate to certain point. Jade believed that, but she also knew that death wasn't something you could always avoid. She'd almost joined the spirits who followed her. Jade tried to smile at him. "Thank you...I know I said that already, but....a few years ago I wanted to die and now I can't....I don't want to."
She turned away from him for a moment, feeling slightly embarrassed at the tears that were building up. She listened as he spoke to Lanie and tried to compose herself in the mean time.
"It was brave," Lanie told him with a grateful smile. "It's not....it's not Jade's time yet. And while I'd like her with me, I want her to live her life."
Jade listened to her sister, tears falling down her face. She wiped them as she looked up at Darik. "I'm sorry. It's been a long week."

Darik listened to Jade for now, and nodded whenever he agreed on something. Truthfully, he didn't really know what to say. He had saved many lives before, but they didn't know it, kind of like a hidden rescue. They know they were saved, but they couldn't see the person who did it. But this time, however, this time was different. Pretty well half of Tim Horton's saw what he did, and if someone asked him how he couldn't explain it, nor tell them at any rate.
His mind snapped out of it as he turned to the voice of Lanie, then he smiled and nodded lightly. "I ... I couldn't let her die. Not there, not now ..." Darik felt a blush heat up on his cheek, but he easily forced it away. "It's just ... I couldn't stand someone else dying in front of my eyes, especially a friend." he told them both as he rested his head in his propped up hand.
Darik looked back at Jade to see that tears were streaming down her face. Without even thinking, he reached over and wiped her tears. "It's ok," he comforted her softly, then realized what he did and pulled his hand away, but not to quickly. He gave her a warm smile. "Everyone has those weeks, where they go on forever and you don't know when it will end." It was at least something to do ... maybe she'll forget about the awkward tear-catching moment.

"Just...aren't you afraid....that someone who saw what you did would try to come after you or something?" Jade asked, wiping away any further evidence of tears. She tried not to dwell on his action of wiping them away himself. It was sweet; however, awkward. She noticed Lanie smiling at them out of the corner of her eye.
She knew there had to be people out there who wanted their hands on people with powers for their own personal gain. Even though it was the premise of a lot of movies, Jade had to admit that it was very possible. If people found out, there could be a lot of damage done and so therefore, they had to be careful and even if Darik had saved her life, he'd risked exposure.
"Sorry, my mind runs away with me sometimes. I just...don't you think there are people out there who....who want to use us? For our powers?" She spoke in a low voice.

Darik thought for a moment. He didn't actually think about that until now. What if it was true? People may use this for personal gain, or even power. It was the reason for insanity and betrayal. Power. These kinds of people could find out about him and use him and ... and ... Darik shook his head and put it in his hands. "Damn ... I ... I never thought of that. What if ... what if someone like that was in Tim Horton's and saw what I did? Oh man ... that's not good ..." Darik was worried, more worried about hurting others with his power if someone who knew got a hold of him. He'd be expelled and he'd have to go back to England with his careless father and sweet sister. But more importantly, he'd be separated from all the friends he made here.
The only thing that Darik could do at the moment was take a deep breath to calm himself down. "Sorry, I kinda over reacted." he apologized and gave her a sheepish smile, now feeling quite embarrassed that he freaked out over probably nothing.

"I'm sorry," Jade mumbled sincerely. "I didn't mean to scare you. My mind runs away with me sometimes...and I think of these elaborate things. I...don't worry about it." Sure, she had thoughts of people being out there who wanted to take advantage of them, she was sure of it. She knew that the two elite academies tried to keep their students and their powers under lock and key, but what if something got out?
She bit her lip. "It's okay. Just...don't take anything I said too seriously."

Darik scratched behind his head and gave her a friendly smirk. "Ok, off that topic before I start drowning in my own fear ..." he said as he thought of a subject. "Hey, do you know Ocean? The cheerleader in Spiritus?" He leaned back in his chair some, hoping she saw her at least once, or even heard about her. Truthfully, who hasn't heard of Ocean? She's the bitch of all bitches and the model of all models. Yes he thinks she's hot, no he would not go out with her, nor would she so it's kind of a win win.
As he waited, he looked around seeing the police up in front of Tim Horton's, asking people questions and such as to what happened. 'Oh god I hope they don't mention me ...' he thought to himself worriedly.

Jade frowned, worry lines creasing her forehead. She hated when she put too much thought into things and worried others. So she gladly dropped the topic and listened to his question. Ocean? What a strange name. That and well...Jade didn't really try incredibly hard to expand her horizons when it came to talking to people. Especially those at Spiritus. She honestly wouldn't have even talked to Darik had he not been able to hear Lanie in the coffee shop, most just labeled her weird and that was the end of it. "Doesn't sound familiar," she told him. "Why?"
Her gaze followed his to the people gathered around and the police asking questions. Darik looked worried again, so instead she stood up and grabbed his hand, pulling him down the sidewalk and away from the scene, breaking into a sprint with him. She did not want to deal with that questioning.

Before Darik could even begin to answer, she pulled him away from the now police filled area. Worry started to climb it's way back into his head, but he forcefully mentally pushed it out, so that he didn't worry Jade or anything like that. Once they were in another spot, he looked at her and gave her a thankful smile. "Thanks," he thanked her, "I was actually afraid they'd come over and start asking random questions over people they heard talking about what I did ..." He looked at her and sighed softly. "When we get back to the school ... don't tell anyone that I used my powers in public, please?"Yes, he knew that they were from different schools, but if she told someone and a teacher found out, they would report to Spiritus. They always did.
Darik sat down on a near-by bench and tapped the seat next to him. "Might as well sit, unless you want to go back to the school. Then I'd gladly walk you home." It was the least he could do after that incident at Time Horton's.

"That's exactly why I pulled us away from that madness," Jade told him, finally releasing his arm. She had no intentions of telling anybody what had happened, well maybe Rafi, but he was her best friend and he kept all of her secrets. Rafi kept her sane above all else. "I promise, okay? I don't want anybody getting in trouble. What you did was heroic." He could count on her.
She took a deep breath and sat down next to him on the bench. "Now what about this Spiritus girl?"

Darik was relieved that he could trust Jade in keeping that a secret. When she mentioned Oce again he perked up. "Oh right, Oce," he began tapping his bottom lip. "What was I gonna say? ..." Darik thought for a moment, then snapped his fingers. "Oh right! You know how demons can possess your body and all that? Well she can do that. I just thought of that because you have a relation with spirits and she has the ability of demonic spirits ... yeah."
Darik smirked some and leaned back against the bench. "Anyway," he began, "so, where's little Lanie now? Is she standing right next to you?" It was a guess, he didn't actually know where she was. Her voice kind of gave it away most of the time though.

Jade gave him a strange look. "Well, that sure is a strange power for a cheerleader to have. Is she your stereotypical cheerleader? Bitchy and blonde?" Jade wasn't normally judgmental, but she was curious. Then that would be really interesting. Possession was no joke. Jade never had been, that she knew of, but she was sure that spirits could possess people. It was possible. She was sort of impressed at the girl's power, but knew that she wasn't somebody Jade would ever really talk to. Jade didn't talk to many people, truth be told, she wouldn't have spoken to Darik if he didn't hear Lanie.
Speaking of Lanie... "She's right in front of us," she told him, watching as her sister spun in circles before them. A small smirk settled on Jade's lips. "I think she's bored."

"Actually," Darik corrected, "she's bitchy and a brunette." It was kind of hard to believe that a cheerleader that was that rich was a brunette and still bitchy. But then again, you can't really base things off of stereotypes you see on TV or hear someone say it in a really bad blonde joke. The possession thing, however, sort of scared Darik a bit. They had to do a school project once for Powers class, and they had to partner up to train their powers to do good things. Half of his power had good written all over it, but Darik wasn't to sure about Ocean's just yet.
His mind trained to Lanie, which wasn't hard considering that he couldn't see her. "Hey, Lanie," he said to her, "you bored?" It was kinda cute to imagine a little spirit doing something random out of boredom, like spinning in circles or running around for the heck of it.
ooc: I can just see her doing that. AWWWEE XD

"I was half right," Jade pointed out. "It's nice to know that not all cheerleaders are blonde bimbos." Although evil cheerleaders wasn't much better. With a power like that, how could Ocean not be destined for evil? Sometimes your power could dictate your personality and it was hard to fight against it. Besides, if she already had bitchy going for her. "Sounds like I wouldn't get along with her very well." She could already tell.
"She does that a lot," Jade said, shrugging at her younger sister's actions. Finally, Lanie stopped spinning and tried to stand, looking dizzy. When she recovered, she smiled in Darik's direction.
"A little," she said, turning back to look at the crowd around Tim Hortons that was finally clearing out. "What would happen if they found out you used your power in public?"
