"Yeah, being lucky is kind of entertaining when you can pull one over on people anyway before they figure out your power. Then again, I can influence other people's luck which is also very fun." Andie grinned to herself at the thought of messing with people who deserved it. She could think of a few people who deserved some bad luck thrown their way and she could dish it out. Then again, things were made too easy by being lucky all the time, which made Andie quite lazy.
"It's fun to manipulate games though. I could make a terrible player seem very skillful if I wanted to." Although at times she disliked her power, because being lucky made her not know what she was really good at. But she didn't express that.

Mikayla sat up. "Oh, you actually have the power of luck?" she asked, intrigued. "That's so cool! But then wouldn't playing cards get boring if you know you're going to win all the time?" she wondered. She liked to play because the outcome of the game was usually unknown. Even though she usually lost at card games.
She wasn't sure how she felt about someone manipulating someone else's game, but if it was all harmless fun, she supposed that it was not a really big deal. "I guess that could make for some pretty interesting games," she pondered.

"Yeah, I do and that's just it, it does get boring, if you don't influence the other players' luck to make it interesting. I always come back for the win though. It's sort of impossible to lose. My power doesn't let me. That and it's always funny to see people's faces when a girl like me beats them in something. Most take my soft appearance to mean that I'm not competitive." So what if she was a bubbly girl with soft features and a constant smile on her face? "It's fun, but it's not really a practical power. I don't see what else I can do besides have fun with it."

Mikayla listened to Andie list the pros and cons of her power and nodded slightly. "I suppose that all makes sense. But I think I disagree with you about it not being practical. I mean, I don't know your power first-hand, but think of it in different scenarios," she supplied. "Say you're, I don't know, parasailing and the string breaks? Your power would prevent anything bad from happening to you. In fact, the string might not even break because of it. It could prevent you from serious injury and even death. And what if you went on a mission? Luck could definitely come in handy."

"I guess you're right," Andie agreed with a slight nod. She'd never thought of it that way. She'd always taken her power as joke, as something fun to play around with, but it was also something that made her indestructible in a way. Having luck on your side gave you an upper hand and those who didn't believe in luck, well, she could prove them wrong. "You are right," she repeated. "I guess my power makes me a valuable asset in that way." How cool was that? She grinned at the thought. "I like you, Mik. You do all the thinking for me."

Mikayla fell silent as she waited for Andie to absorb how awesome her power could be in different situations. She laughed after the fellow Spiritus student called her 'right' twice. "See? Don't discount yourself so easily. And I bet there are loads more situations in which you could use your power. For more than just card game luck," she said with a bright smile. She felt good having been able to help Andie realise the potential she had. She could do more than just win at games.
Being called Mik reminded her of her cousin, and she smiled agian. "Mik. I like being called that," she said randomly. "Well I'm happy to do the thinking for you," she laughed, then shook her head. "I just like to look at the positive end of the spectrum, is all."

"I just never thought about my power in that way. I've used it more for random acts of fun than for anything serious. It always just seemed like some joke of a power. I mean, a lot of people don't believe in luck, but if it didn't exist, how come I can influence it? Luck is chosen randomly and if you don't get to choose what happens to you, how important is it to try and lead a good life? You know? If someone has bad luck all the time, no matter how hard they try, their bad luck will always prevail." It was depressing, if you looked at it in that way and people didn't want to believe consequences of bad or good luck.
"Enough of that depressing stuff," Andie said, wrinkling her nose. "You're alright, Mik. At first I thought you'd be a bit of a stick in the mud, but I like you." Optimism was something that was very rare to find in people anymore.
