Despite Penny being in high school, she still held a very high imagination. She found herself uninterested with going to see movies, or party, or whatever else her peers seem fascinated with, and much rather spend her time in the forest. It reminded her of the forest area back home. Penny was awfully home sick, but she was too scared to find out what happened after her little scene at school. Where did her parents think she'd gone? Do they know she's safe? There were too many questions, that probably led to very depressing answers.
She wandered the forest silently, imaging as if she was on some noble quest, to slay a beast deep within. Holding her mighty sword (a stick), and a sturdy shield (a book), she snuck through the trees, waiting on the alert.
Surprisingly enough, she heard footsteps from a person, ones that she did not create. Quickly, she put down the stick, and walked casually around. She didn't want to look like a weirdo within the first five seconds of meeting somebody.

Tim had been to town and was on his way back but instead of going along the designated path he had decided to take the scenic route through the forrest. He couldn't wait to start his final year. Tim had also stayed through the summer as there wasn't anywhere else he could really go.
"wonder what powers we're going to get this year?" He mumbled to himself as he pondered the idea of different powers he had not seen yet. Tim pulled out his phone, a complete adaption to the nokia it started out as, thanks to his power he had re-engineered it so now it used a high speed network for internet, calls and texts cost nothing as he had hacked into a phone company satellite. The phone could connect to any wireless device and access there files as well as pin pointing the location of those devices. It could also detect life forms in a close vicinity. 'Message: Life form detected' A map then popped up on the display with a the exact location of a phone only a few meters away. Tim was always very cautious when he found people in this forrest, because if it was someone snooping around the secrecy of the schools would be blown and he would have to go back to England in a normal school.
Tim snook around the trees being very careful to find out who was in the forrest. He found a girl pretending to sword fight with a stick. He automatically lowered his guard and walked towards the girl.
"afternoon"

She really hoped this guy didn't see her sword fighting. She held the book with her left hand, and kept her right hand free. "Hi, I'm Penny. What school do you go to?" This was the usual question asked, to figure out if they had powers or not. Some people cared about the school rivalry, but Penny had no reason to. She only came here a few months ago, and she wasn't on any sport team either. There was really no point to hold a grudge against people who were exactly like her.

"Tim" He smiled warmly moving slightly closer "Veritas. You?" He looked at the girl in front of him wondering what she was doing on her own in the middle of a forrest with a stick. "you practicing for a drama performance of peter pan or something?" he pointed at the stick on the floor "or are you on the fencing team?" He found a large log and sat on it, he needed a rest "So what year are you in anyway?"

Penny smiled, happy to see that it was a fellow mutant. Two duplicates formed behind her, so that she was standing in a triangle formation. "I'm" the first one cheered. "in" the second one said, enthusiastically. "Spiritus." The original said, then had the other disappear back inside of her. "So what do you do?" She asked, curiously.
She leaned against a tree, "Yeah, Peter Pan." She lied cooly, not wanting to admit that she was doing it just for the sake of imagination. "Also, I'm a sophmore. Tenth grade." She added, remembering that the people don't have those terms for high school students.

He smiled as she showed her ability. "me ahh nothing really" He placed his phone on the floor it started to project 3D images from the screen 'i'm a technopath' "All my equipments back in veritas, i don't just make pretty lights" He laughed
"ahh cool im in my final year, it's been one heck of a roller coaster living here" he smiled as he remembered all the trouble he had gotten in and all the skills he learnt that he could do. "oh and i've added my number to your phone in your dorm, he smiled we're always going into town to do things so i'll leave you a message sometime"

"Ooh cool. So what else can you do?" Back home, they didn't have much technology. She didn't even have a cell phone. They just had a really old tv set, and a home phone, but that's about it. She was curious about him, and his powers.
"So what's Veritas like? I've only been here myself for a few months, and nobody at my school seems to want to talk about you guys" She rolled her eyes. "School spirit is taken way too seriously, if you ask me." She never understood what all the hatred was about. Sometimes she would get dirty looks if she walked around in public in her uniform.

"i can understand technology easily and then use that to build stuff. I can hack computers in seconds also i can use technology without touching it, for example i can drive a car or change traffic lights." He smiled 'not as cool as duplication' he thought "If i get angry or frustrated it can happen on it's own though and that can be really dangerous" He laughed as he thought of something he did in his first year "yeah i don't really understand the rivalry but because someone last year from your school decided to chuck a few stink bombs into the assembly hall while we were in it, you may have heard of a huge blackout at your school, it may or may not have been me"

"Well that's why we're all here, right? To better understand, and control our powers. I mean all of us have kinks in our abilities. For example, when my duplicates are emotions. So if they're out, that means I lose that emotion, and the clone only has that one single emotion.
"Really? Like I said, I haven't been here all that long. I think I remember the power going out for a day or two, but I never heard about the stink bomb. I wonder who did that." Most of the people she knew were relatively nice, and would never be so petty. Then again, she didn't know that many people.

"Yeah i used to be all over the place but now i never seem to get angry at all, i have learnt to keep my cool" He decided to get up from his spot and stretch his legs a bit more he had gotten cramp from sitting down like he had done. "I'm guessing that's a bit frustrating, loosing a emotion, mind you you can't get frustrated if you loose the emotion of frustration" He laughed "you'll fit right in to the bunch of misfits we have here among the schools. Just be careful is the only advice i can give you the rest is up to how you work in a team, and how well you know to do whats right"

"It's actually more useful then you'd think. I can usually guess that it's strongest emotion I'm feeling, so I can try to take away emotions when I don't want them. For example, if I to give a report in front of the class, I can duplicate nervousness, well maybe a few others too, it takes a few tries to get the emotion you want, have them wait the bathroom, meanwhile I get to give a presentation with no nerves." Usually it didn't work like that, as there wasn't that many situations where it came in handy, but she didn't want to sound whiny, and not appreciative of her powers.
"Work as a team? Oh yeah, I heard about that. We sometimes are sent to go on missions, right? Yeah, that sounds like fun. I can only imagine what other powers people have to save the day."

"That's pretty cool, being able to control your power like that, Your already quite advanced already. Powers are funny like that, it either really hard to control or a sinch, mind you people who find it easy normally find hidden attributes later on in their life" James pulled out his cube "this cube is what i created to help me unlock my powers, it helps me focus, it is comprised of many many small mechanisms which somehow allow me to meditate" He looked at Penny "maybe find something that you find easy to focus on related to your power, sometimes we focus to much on our powers, it's nice to take a break"

"It's not that it came easy. I just didn't REALIZE the duplicates were real for a while. I would always think them up when I got bored, or lonely, and they would play with me as a child. I was training my powers, and I didn't even know it." She shrugged, not really remembering how well her powers were back then. It didn't matter now anyways.
"I know right? That's why I love coming to town. You're not allowed to use your powers anyways, nobody is, so it takes off all the stress. It's nice to just be normal again."

"wow, an early starter. I started early but that was because my father put me through a ton of tests as my mum has a power" He smiled but was a bit uneasy mentioning his mother "I had managed to control my anger by the age of 10, that's what sets my power on the fritz. Then i came here to learn how i could develop my power not my control of it, and that my dad sent me here" Tim changed the subject quickly trying to get out of any questions involving his mum. "have you got any missions coming up soon?"

"Well, I'm not sure I'm involved in it, but I heard rumors about some sort of black market in Canada. I haven't heard any details yet, but apparently it's really big. I probably won't get chosen though. I can't think of how duplicating could help the situation." Missions didn't come all that often, and usually only the best students got to go. The entire point of the school was supposed to train kids, and a lot of kids' powers were unstable. A lot of them could get themselves killed, kidnapped, raped, tortured, or even worsed.
"How about you? Have you been on any missions before?
