Chase stood at the counter of the art supply store, looking over their collection of drawing ink and pens. This was a new thing for him, as he had really only done pencil or painting before, but there was something about the permanence and detail of ink that suddenly appealed to him now. He selected a few pens and some bottles in different colors and paid for them, adding those boxes to the already huge stack of paper and sketchbooks in his arms. He hated shopping for these things but liked to have his own supplies, so he always stocked up on giant piles of art stuff every month or so. Seeing something interesting on another shelf, he walked over, and looked at some brushes being displayed, wanting to make sure he didn't forget anything so he wouldn't have to come back very soon. He disliked the way the workers always tried to give him advice and acted condescending to the fact that he was just another student. Chase sighed, wishing he could already be back in the studio, by himself with his art and his music.

Andie didn't normally go to the art supplies store. Well, she normally didn't go shopping in general, unless it was for a new deck of cards or a pair of dice, but she'd enrolled in an art class at Spiritus and needed a few materials, so she headed out into the town of Cranbrook on her own and found herself scanning the shelves for a sketchbook and some charcoal pencils. She walked along the aisles, skateboard in hand
She'd grabbed a sketchbook and some pencils when she came across paint brushes and a boy who she did not recognize who looked enthralled by them. It didn't take much but a flick of her finger to give him that little bit of bad luck that made it so when he reached out to grasp one of the brushes, the rest of them came tumbling down from the display.
She smirked to herself as it happened. A little bad luck never hurt anybody she thought ot herself as she turned back to the art supplies, trying to hide her smile.

Chase had reached for a paintbrush to see if he liked it, when somehow his wrist jerked weirdly and the whole shelf collapsed. He swore under his breath and bent down to pick up the shelf, and looked around to see if a lot of people had seen it. Suddenly, a girl on the other side of the room caught his eye. She seemed to pointedly not paying attention but there was a definite smirk on her face. She also looked strangely smug... too smug, really. Chase hated being laughed at. He looked closer and saw that she was wearing the Spiritus uniform skirt under her jacket. So she knew about powers. He grinned as he picked up the rest of the brushes quietly, pretending not to notice her. Chase waited until the cashier walked into the back of the store for something, and the few customers inside had their backs turned. As she was about to turn around, he stared intently at the displays near where she was standing and they seemed to change, some growing bigger and some shifting a foot or two. The new arrangement wasn't a dramatic change, but when the girl tried to walk back back, to the door or cashier or wherever she was headed, she was standing in a maze of shelves and cabinets, with no apparent way out except to squeeze between a bunch of displays and circle around the back wall of the entire store. Chase laughed quietly and continued to pick up brushes, pretending not to notice her.

Andie was trying to suppress her laughter as the paintbrushes fell down, along with the shelf. It was so hard to control her reactions when she did this kind of stuff. It was just too funny, not to mention entertaining. Now he was picking up the shelf and the brushes and she couldn't stop grinning to herself, although he didn't call her out or anything.
She found what she needed in the aisle, heaving a few sketchbooks and pencils in her hands and turned around only to practically run into a shelf that had somehow moved in front of her. There were others around her, trapping her in the aisle. She raised an eyebrow. Clever boy he was. She didn't know his exact powers, but he'd managed to do this and had known the shelf falling was her doing, but Andie could appreciate what he'd done and only grinned to herself, squeezing through a nearby display so she was against the wall circled around, taking the long way, only to find herself in front of the boy who had finished picking up the paint brushes.
"Well played," she said.

Chase was glad the girl hadn't actually touched the shelf she had almost "bumped" into. That would've ruined all the fun of it. He picked up the last brush and carefully laid it on the shelf, making sure not to bump the case again. He stood up and faced the girl as she came up. Seeing the cashier walking in, he let the illusion of the displays melt away, leaving the store the same as it was before.
He was glad to see that she was a good head shorter than him, so he could smirk down at her as he nodded and answered with a "you too." She was pretty, with long brown hair and a nice smile. "Hmm... was it telekinesis?" He asked, wondering about her power. "Or did you move my hand somehow?" Chase leaned casually on the counter behind him, smiling. "Or are you gonna remain mysterious?" He stuck out his hand for a handshake. "Chase."

Andie may be shorter than most people, but she liked to think it gave her an edge. Most thought she was delicate and gentle when really she was quite fiery. She matched his smirk as he returned the comment.
"Wrong. And.....wrong," she told him with a grin. She loved how hard her power could be to figure out at some points. Unless of course she was playing a game of cards. "And what was that whole thing you pulled? Some sort of mind trick?" She crossed her arms. "Mysterious is fun, don't you think?"
And when he held out his hand, she extended one of hers forward as well. "Andie."

Chase raised an eyebrow when she didn't give any real answer to his question. He shook her hand and then turned toward the door, not bothering to see if she followed. He knew she would eventually, used to girls following him around like puppy dogs. "Well, two can play at that game," he said. "The fact that we're in an art store is a clue," he continued, smiling. Realizing the things he bought were still on the counter, he turned to the girl at the cashier. "Hey, can you be a dollface and save this for me? I'll be back... eventually..." Not even listening for her response, he walked out and leaned against the wall by the door, waiting for Andie.

Andie could barely believe it. The guy just introduced himself and turned away, not giving much of an answer about his power either and instead walking on. She vaguely heard him call the cashier 'dollface' as she walked after him, shaking her head at his behavior as he walked out the door, it swinging shut behind him.
Andie raised an eyebrow at his departure before turning to the cashier and putting her art supplies down on the counter to purchase it. She took her things and thanked the girl as she left, putting her skateboard on the ground and jumping on it. She saw the boy leaning up against the wall in her peripheral but wouldn't give him the satisfaction of walking up to him to continue their conversation when he so rudely left. Either that, or she wanted to march up to him and have a few choice words with him. That was the more Andie like option.
"I thought Spiritus students were supposed to be stuck-up," she snapped, crossing her arms and balancing on her skateboard. "Seems you should transfer."
