"I don't usually tell people I'm a telepath," Eloise explained. "I tell most people I talk to animals, because ow the fuck would they know if I'm actually communicating with a damn squirrel or not?" she shrugged. "That way they don't freak out. I just act as normal as possible. Ask them their names, and their powers... I try to be normal," she laughed again, "But I'll never be normal." The last part was barely a whisper.
"Well I'll make a mental note not to sleep in the library then," she added with a slight smile. "And to only call you by your middle name," she smiled again. She picked up a curl of her hair and played with the end of it, twirling it around on her finger, concentrating on that instead of Monroe's thoughts so perhaps she could have a normal conversation. "It's nice to be able to hear my own thoughts once in a while. The same way I'm sure it's nice to have your own dreams. That's why I usually lurk around at night."

"I don't usually tell people I'm a dreamwalker. However, it sort of messes that up when someone comes up to me and asks why I was in their dream last night. All I can do is say, 'Everybody dreams about me.' Because in a sense, everyone does." He shrugged, not knowing what else to say about it. "I know what you mean though. People think it's an invasion of privacy, which it is, but it's not like I choose to do it. Pulling out of dreams is difficult, something I haven't even began to master yet."
Normal. That word. What did it even mean? Most thought that Monroe was odd anyway. The stylish way he dressed, the way he kept to himself most of the time unless approached and definitely the amount of caffeine he took in and how he never seemed to sleep. He practically had permanent bags underneath his eyes. "Much appreciated, Eloise. My first name is just...not me." He shrugged it off. It wasn't something he talked about. He was Monroe and that was the end of it. "But yeah, I like to have my own dreams once in a while. I don't even remember what it's like."

"Its kind of like my mental block," Eloise started. "During the day I've kind of become accustom to forcing all the voices out. Because otherwise I would basically have an instant migraine. But... it takes so much energy and by the end of the day I just can't do it anymore." She sighed. "People think I'm purposely invading their minds when in reality I can barely tell which thought it theirs, I have so many coming in at once." Eloise looked away from the table, and toward the books. "Sometimes when there aren't any voices I don't even know what to think... that's why I come and read."
She looked back at Monroe and noticed his eyes glazed over and drooping. "Sorry... you don't really care, I know. It's just... not many people understand and it's been something I've kinda held in for so long. I just needed to say it." she shrugged. "You can do the same if you need to. Or just think it... you know..." she laughed a little.

Monroe waved it off. "Don't worry about it. These powers are a burden and there's nobody to really complain to. I vote I should get my own room so I can sleep at night, but that requires going through a long process and I just am too tired to deal with it." He rubbed his temples. "The quiet must be nice, but weird. I wouldn't know what to do or think either." He didn't even remember his own dreams anymore, mostly because he couldn't tell apart his own from other people's after a while. They all blurred together into a giant mass.
"You're not boring me, just so you know. I'm just very sleep deprived..." He trailed off, yawning once more. "Man, I need some coffee."

"I know," Eloise said, since she did. "I just wanted to hear it from you I guess..." Sometimes Eloise didn't make sense. She'd rather hear somebody say something to verify it than totally believe their thoughts. She liked to know if they would tell the truth or not. It told her a lot about the character of a person.
"I hope the power classes actually help us," she said with a sigh. "I feel like a lot of kids don't take the same toll as us with mental abilities. Especially if they're completely out of control." She laughed, "My dad is a telepath too... or something of the sort. But he's so in control... it's ridiculous. He tried to teach me but couldn't so... that's why I'm here."

"Makes sense," Monroe said, knowing that it made sense. "It must suck to know when people are lying to you. You can see through everyone." Monroe wasn't sure he could handle that. He might actually hate humanity. At least dreams were somewhat out of the person's control. But he still didn't like to be apart of them. The power was a nuisance.
"I do as well," he agreed. It would be nice to be able to pull out of dreams when he wanted or to resist going into them in general. Because he could do it, but it sucked the energy from him, energy he couldn't afford to lose since he barely had any as it was. "That's really cool. My mom...doesn't have a power. She's a psychologist though, so she tried to understand what was happening with me the best she could, but I think she mostly considered me a research project after a while." Hopefully this place would be more of a help. He loved his mother, but she'd been fascinated by him and confused by him rather than willing to help.

"Somtimes I wish my dad didn't have a power too," Ella laughed. "You know... he can read dreams too. But he's usaully awake when he does it. And I don't think he does it often." Eloise shrugged. "He's got all sorts of things going on in his mind. He just knows how to control it I guess." She already missed her dad. Even though he could be a burden, especially about her ability, he was the only person that always understood her. Perhaps, though, Monroe could understand her too. They did not have the same power, but they were similar enough to see where the other was coming from, even if Ella always saw it more clearly.
"Your mom must have wanted to help you somewhat though," Ella said, almsot not realizing that Monroe had only thought about her intentions, not said them. She hadn't been looking at his face when he thought it. "I mean... if she didn't want you to get help she wouldn't have let you come here." Eloise looked up at Monroe, and then sighed and shook her head. "Sorry I didn't realize that was a thought."

"I wonder how he learned to control such a bothersome power," Monroe thought out loud. Her father must have been truly dedicated and remarkable to figure it out.
He shrugged about his mother. "She meant well. I know that." He wasn't quite used to her responding to his thoughts, rather than what he said. It was confusing, making him rethink what words had actually left his mouth. "She wanted to help me, but she got caught up in my power, thinking about how interesting it was. I think she wants me to learn how to use it, but I just want to be rid of it." It was annoying and interfered with his sleep. "She loves her work and I think she thought I would bring forth some new psychological evidence for journals."

"It can't be easy... having a child with an ability like ours. Even for my dad I know it wasn't easy," Ella said, remembering back to when they moved out to the countryside. "When I was 5 or so and the thoughts started coming in stronger and louder we had to move out of Seattle and to a town in the middle of nowhere. My dad drove an hour and a half to work every day so I could live somewhere peaceful. And I still complained all the time." She laughed. Sometimes she unappreciated everything her father did for her. She felt like she was awful sometimes for not thanking him enough or not telling him how much everything meant to her. Sending her to this school included. Even though she wasn't thrilled about the concept, her father only did so because he cared. "I can only imagine what it's like for a parent who doesn't understand. Especially your mom. It's her job to understand the mind and there is just no way she'll ever be able to understand yours."

"I know. See, I try to look at things that way, but it sucks, whether you're her or me," Monroe said. And that was the truth. It wasn't easy to live with the powers or to have a child who had the powers. Psychologists can only work with so much. A case like Monroe's hadn't been seen before. "It's weird, you know. My mother doesn't have this ability so I wonder where it comes from." He let out a sigh though, looking in her direction. "Seattle? I'm from Seattle as well." He nodded, although it wasn't odd that he never met her considering she moved out of the city when she was young.

"Really?" Eloise asked with a slight smile. "That's cool... I visit sometimes. But it's very loud in cities so I avoid it. I feel like I would love cities if I couldn't hear so many thoughts at once." Eloise shrugged. And it wasn't odd that they had never met. But it was still pretty cool that they were both from the area.
"My dad says that the abilities can be passed down many many generations without actually being active. So you could have gotten it from a really distant grandfather or something of the sort," Eloise suggested. "It's actually rare for a person with abilities to have a child with abilities unless both parents have them. Well that's what my dad says at least. And he's really smart so I'm not going to question him."

Monroe laughed, agreeing with Eloise on the loud part. "I know what you mean. Being bombarded with dreams isn't fun either. I think sleepless in Seattle took on a whole new meaning." A small smile tugged at the corner's of his mouth, a sleepy smile at that.
Eloise's father sounded very knowledgeable and he wished he had a figure like that around to show him the ropes, but he'd never known his father in general and his mother was working a lot as it was, even if she did care. "Seems like he taught you a lot."

"He did," Eloise said with a small smile. "I miss him," she admitted. She curled her legs up to her chest and hugged them, leaning her chin on her knees. She chuckled at Monroe's sleepless in Seattle comment. She liked his sense of humor. "He's really the only person in my life I've ever trusted or loved or could call anything close to a friend," she also admitted. She figured if she could see into Monroe's thoughts, it was only fair that she gave him what was on her mind too. He seemed genuine, so she didn't mind sharing with him.

Monroe listened to her go on, nodding at her. "So, you never had any other friends? Did you stay away from people because you didn't feel comfortable hearing their thoughts?" It was quite a burden. Monroe could recall a few times he'd had a few friends, although they weren't super close. One of the girls he'd gone on a date with, but she'd been terrified of him when he appeared in one of her dreams once and things hadn't really worked out after that. He could relate to Eloise in that way, of feeling as if you were intruding on someone's personal life, so you'd rather just stay away from them.
"I know what you mean. It's not exactly charming to be the guy that shows up in people's dreams all the time. It gets kind of annoying when everyone thinks they're dreaming about me." Not to mention awkward.

Ella nodded, a sad look crossing her face. "Yeah... I had a couple close friends once but then they started asking why I live so far away from the town with the school and why I always have headaches... all the old excuses weren't working anymore... so I told them," she explained. She pushed a couple curls away from her face. "They kinda freaked out and slowly stopped talking to me. And every time I was with them I knew they were afraid I was reading their mind, of course. I knew I was making them uncomfortable. And after that I kinda just stayed away from people in general."
Ella chuckled at Monroe's comment. "Well I don't know how I'd feel about you being in my dream... it would only be the fact that you'd KNOW about my dream that was slightly odd I suppose," Ella replied to Monroe's story. "But then again, I understand that feeling and that burden so I'd never really freak out over you appearing."
