"That really sucks. Definitely more than your typical high school sob story," Monroe commented. "People like their privacy, but they don't realize that you don't want to invade it." He knew the feeling. And Eloise had given up her friends and any chance at a social life when she'd started to stay away from people. "Some powers, right?" He rolled his eyes.
"It is odd...when people see me, they don't try to get to know me. They just recognize me as the guy who was in their dreams. And usually it's just creepy to them. But it's not like I want to be in their dreams. As long as I'm not really near anybody who is sleeping, I'm alright. I haven't really figured it all out yet."

Eloise hugged her knees to her chest. "Exactly... it's like they expect you to control your power better just because it's an inconvience to them. This kid today... Talon or something... I don't know... he kind of flipped shit and yelled at me to stay away from him moments after having some thought about me being attractive. And it's funny how people change their opinion so fast. Then he like... stepped away slowly as if being two more feet away could keep me out of his head," she rambled slightly. It wasn't like ella to talk about all of this, but it was just too nice to have somebody who at least partially understood.
"I mean it sucks for you because they just stay away without getting to know you at all," Eloise said with a bit of remorse. She listened as he explained how he stayed out of others dreams. "Hopefully they can help here. Both of us..." she said with a sigh.

"And it's so hard to control it. Like I get that my power isn't fun for anybody else, but why should I suffer because of it?" He let out a breath, listening to her story. "Funny how that works. You're attractive until you can get inside their head." He rolled his eyes. It wasn't as if Eloise handpicked her power. "It just sucks when people want nothing to do with you because of your power. I thought this place was supposed to be friendlier."
He sat back in his chair and looked over at her, mustering a tired smile. "And I think you're pretty, if that means anything." He shrugged. "And you reading my mind doesn't make me think different." He felt as if he could actually talk to Eloise.

Eloise laughed at Monroe's tired compliment. It was genuine, and didn't make her feel uncomfortable the way Talon did. She was glad she had come across Monroe. He was very easy to talk to, and didn't seem to mind her power as much as many others did. "Yeah I'm still waiting to be welcomed with open arms too," she said with a shrug. "and I feel like I can actually talk to you to," she added, figuring that wasn't a thought that he'd mind her answering. "It's nice to let it all out to somebody who understands. Even if he's half asleep." She smiled slightly, feeling bad that he was so tired. And it seemed as if he was probably so most of the time.

"Oh well. I guess I've never been one for being apart of a huge social circle anyway. People are annoying." Monroe put it so simply as if it was a fact and as if he didn't care, but well...he did get lonely every once in a while even if he did like his solitude.
He smiled at her. "Okay, now that thought I'm okay with your hearing. And it is nice. I don't have as much of a headache." Half asleep? As far as Monroe was concerned, he was asleep without actually being asleep. He always felt like he was in some dream like state, not really there. It was how it went when he barely slept and fell in and out of other's dreams.

Eloise laughed and shook her head. It was like he understood her as much as she understood him, and she was the mind reader. It was probably because of their similar (yet oh so different) power. "So have you ever done anything to try and control it?" Eloise asked curiously. "I mean... after being so sleep deprived for so long... I'd probably be willing to try anything," she said with a slightly disbelieving tone. She loved when everything got really quiet and she could sleep at night. "Have you tried sleeping in the day?" she asked as even a flawed suggestion.

"Yeah, I mean, somewhat," Monroe began, running a hand through his hair. "I can pull out of dreams sometimes. It's hard and takes a lot of energy out of me, but it's possible. However, the more intense the dream, the harder it is to leave it. It works sometimes. Other times it doesn't." He shrugged. He'd gotten used to it even if he didn't like it. "I catch a few hours of sleep here and there, sleeping during the day is easier, but I'm screwed if someone falls asleep in class."
In general, it just sucked.

Eloise sighed, "Well I hope they can help. I mean the mental block I put up is a lot of energy too... but maybe there's something similar you can do. I don't know." She flipped her hair out of her face. She squinted as she looked at him now, and made a wry face. "I feel like I know you... you look familiar... and your mind is familiar..." she said. "It's weird... maybe I'm just tired." And with that she stood, and yawned, stretching her arms out. "I guess I'll leave you to try and sleep then," she said, "Since I need to get some before people start waking up."
