Mariah had to resist the urge to teleport directly into the coffee shop. She settled for walking faster, hands shoved deep into the pockets of her steel grey peacoat. It was terribly cold out here; by her standards, anyway. Growing up experiencing the mild winters of Southern California had mad her a major wimp when it came to the cold.
Darting into the shop, she sighed in relief as the wall of warmth enveloped her, smelling pleasantly of coffee and pastries. She slid into a booth near the window, removing the coat. Her gaze wandered out the window. She may not enjoy the weather, but it did seem to make the cloudless sky more blue somehow, the color as sharp and crisp as the chilly fall air.
A barista strolled by, and Mariah flagged the older girl down and order a coffee. Folding her arms on the table, she set to waiting.

Everett walked out of the comic book shop, shocked that he'd even been capable of leaving after finding so many comics he wanted to buy and in such good condition. The employees knew him by name and comic preference. It would be sad to some people, but Everett felt welcome there. Now only if he could get a job there. Then he'd be set. Discounts on comic books? Hell yeah.
He grinned at the new comic books in his hands, carefully placing them in his backpack before continuing down the sidewalk. He passed by Tim Horton's and figured a hot drink would do him good, considering he was freezing. Maybe wearing a thin purple hoodie hadn't been such a good idea. At least he'd been smart enough to pull a beanie over his mess of blonde hair.
He took in the warm air and delicious smells as he walked inside, sitting at the first table he saw, which was by the window, taking out a comic book from his bag and beginning to read until a barista headed his way.
