[/font][/center]Some basics...
Name» Talon Auburn

Date of Birth» February 14th 1997
Place of Birth» Port Dover, Ontario
Age» 15
Grade» 10th

Sexual Orientation» Bi-sexual.
Hair Colour and Style» Dirty blonde, short, usually messy since he never brushes it, but since it's short you cannot often tell.
Eye Colour» Brown
Height» Talon stands at exactly 6'. That is, when he is not slouching.
Weight» He weighs less than he should; both smoking and his depression has taken a toll on him. However, some of his swimming muscle is still there.
Distinguishing Features» Though it is not a physical feature, Talon pretty much always smells of tobacco, and can usually be found with a cigarette in his hand.
Clothes» Luckily for Talon, he attends Veritas. He finds the Spiritus uniforms to be hideous. He used to wear some well put together outfits, but developed a soft spot for dark hoodies, which he wears most of the time now. You will often see him in straight-legged dark jeans and shoes that would be nice if he took care of them. Since he cannot afford most of the designer clothes he likes most, he only has a few really nice outfits, which he saves for special occasions or days he is just feeling really good.

Mother» Tracy Auburn, ex-accountant, has been in-between jobs for three years now, 33
Father» James Auburn, insurance broker, 35
Siblings» Ah, now here is where things become complicated. Talon had a sister. Her name was Leah and she was five years younger than Talon. She was seven when she died of second-hand smoke.
Family History» The Auburn family used to be a typical four-person family. They were virtually well-ofsf until Tracy and James' smoking addiction rubbed off on their kids. By ten, Talon was smoking, and at the age of six Leah was diagnosed with second-hand smoke. Having been a small child already, Leah passed away less than a year later; the chemotherapy and the cancer taking a toll on her body that she could just not handle. Leah's death affected the Auburn family tremendously, and all in different ways.
Tracy and James Auburn quit smoking the second they found out Leah was sick. When their daughter passed away, they began to grow apart. Tracy lost her job and has spent the last three years sitting in her daughter's untouched bedroom crying and clutching old pictures.
James Auburn dove deeper into work, and has become obssessed. He uses work as a way to deal with his daughter's death, and finds excuses to stay later or work on weekends in order to get out of the house and away from his wife.
With only one income in the Auburn household, they have had to cut back on a lot of things, and manage to keep up with their mortgage payments by James working over-time, and by shopping at thrift stores and buying groceries in bulk. Talon does not mind this as much, because he is never home. When he was asked to attend Veritas Academy, he saw it as a blessing to get out of his house and away from his parents.
Tracy and James have fallen out of love, and the only reason they have not gotten divorced is because Tracy would end up on the streets and Talon would spiral into an even dark path than the one he is already on. Talon is the only thing holding his family together, but he doesn't want anything to do with them.
After Leah died, a part of Talon died, too. His will to live. He did not quit smoking after Leah died; he tried to while she was diagnosed, but on the day they buried her, he picked the habit back up with one intention in mind: to smoke until it killed him. This enraged his parents, but Talon refuses to speak to either of them. He ultimately blames them for Leah's death and each day wishes it had been him who contracted cancer, especially since he was the one who picked up smoking at such a young age. Leah's death was far from fair.

Personality» Talon is a very complicated guy at first. The previous three years of his life have greatly affected his personality, to the point where the old Talon is virtually non-existant. Talon used to be arrogant, always laughing, and intelligent. Now Talon is moody, sarcastic, hateful, bitter, and depressed.
He was diagnosed with severe depression and his parents hired a therapist for him with what little money they had after he tried to kill himself the first time. His sister's death basically destroyed all hope, love, and laughter from his life, and the worst part is that he believes in hope and love and happiness. He just does not want it. Not anymore. Not without Leah. The only time he is remotely happy is when he is in bird form and drifting on air currents, or when he is in the Veritas pool swimming laps.
Some might define him as a trouble-maker and a slacker since he skips class, gets bad grades, smokes, and has a 'eff it all' attitude, but really Talon just doesn't care anymore. Or at least, he pretends not to. Very few things can get through to him and make him care, but he does have the ability. He cares about the well-being of others; just not his own. If someone can manage to break through the wall he surrounds himself with, he will be a very loyal friend; he will just be a pain in the ass because of his attitude. He has the capacity to love, and love greatly. He is just terrified of losing people. He would much rather go first now that he knows what pain is really like.
Likes - Pretty much nothing. The few things that make him feel at peace or sometimes even make him smile are: the feel of the air under his wings as he glides in bird-form on air currents; swimming; chocolate cake; smoking; being outside; loud music; kissing, especially the meaningless kind; the taste of small, sometimes raw rodents.
Dislikes - Pretty much everything. But mostly Talon dislikes: his parents, his life, being stuck indoors, his therapist, smoking, the quiet (it allows for too much thinking), school, people who nag at him about his smoking, and social situations.
[shadow=red,left,300]Let's get down to business...[/shadow]
Academics» The fact that Talon has not failed anything yet is a miracle. He barely managed to scrape by his 9th year with mostly D's, and a few C's. He has been warned that if his grades do not improve this year, he will be held back. Talon could care less.
Powers» Avian Shapeshifter. Basically, Talon has the power to shapeshift into any bird form he wishes. He prefers a hawk. In order to shift, he has to know what a bird looks like down to every possible detail.
His powers also cause him to take on some bird-like tendencies. Mostly this shows in the way that he has cravings for raw rodents. Cooked ones are okay, but they taste better to him raw.
Discovery» Talon remembers when he was younger and was sitting in his backyard back in Port Dover with Leah. She was four and he was nine. They had just had a water fight (which Talon let Leah win, and so he was soaked with water) and were lying on the grass. A hawk flew overhead, hunting for its afternoon meal, and Talon could not take his eyes off of it. Then he heard his sister laugh in delight and refer to him as a 'pretty bird'. That was when he noticed his arms were beginning to sprout feathers. His sister asked him how he did it, but Talon panicked saying he did not know. He eventually came to accept his ability to change into birds, but kept it a secret from everyone except for Leah (even his parents did not know). Then on a beach day on Leah's last summer Talon decided he wanted to fly with the seagulls over Lake Erie, mostly because Leah was requesting it of it (she loved seeing him in bird form; she thought it was when he was happiest and most like 'Talon'). Someone saw him change and reported it to the news, who then made a report on a senile man they suspected was on some sort of weird hallucinogens and was claiming saw a boy turn into a bird. Upon seeing this news report, a scout from Veritas Academy sought out Talon and offered him a spot at their school come ninth grade. Talon accepted after Leah passed away.
Those who do not know Talon might think he is just a teenaged boy with a bad attitude who will break out of it and grow up in a few years, but if Talon continues like he is, he will be broken forever. He already believes he is unfixable, and that
Weakness/Vulnerability» It takes a lot of concentration for Talon to change into a bird. If he is interrupted mid-transformation, he can get stuck, and sometimes it takes hours for him to become un-stuck and to change back into his human form.
Talon must be either completely naked when shapeshifting, or he has to be wearing skin-tight clothing. It took him all of his first year of school at Veritas to learn to shapeshift with skin-tight shorts on. He still cannot change with a shirt on. In the winter, this is a serious dilemma. Last year he ended up in the hospital with a minor case of frost bite when he lost his concentration mid-shift and nearly froze his fingers off.
Talon is scared. He is scared of love, of caring, of losing. This affects how he functions every day. This fear holds him back from making close friends, from getting good grades, from experiencing happiness.
His nicotine addiction is a big weakness for Talon as well. If he goes for too long without a smoke, he becomes more agitated than usual. It had been the cause of more detentions than he can count. Not to mention the affect his addiction has on his health. But of course, that's what Talon wants right now.
Strengths» Talon is an excellent swimmer, although he was kicked off of the Veritas swim team. He is actually pretty smart (his middle school grades were mostly A's), but because he gave up on trying in life, his school grades now do not reflect this.
[shadow=red,left,300]And the lighter, fun, optional stuff...[/shadow]
Relationship Status» Talon tried to date last year. He had crushes on girls all of his life, but as he began to discover his sexuality, he tried dating guys. His only 'real' relationship was with a girl named Diane whom he dated over the summer prior to moving to Cranbrook for school. He ended up breaking up with her because he realised he was attracted to guys and figured that meant he was gay. He has never actually dated any males, but has had physical, casual relationships with a few. He is still a virgin, however, depending on your definition of the term. Other than that, Talon thinks it is probably best if he avoids relationships. Diane refuses to speak to him and he regrets that since they were pretty good friends before he dumped her. Since he is only fifteen, he keeps his relationship/sex life private. Talon is a closed book.
Friends» He is going to try not to get close to anyone, but we'll see.
Enemies» Talon so far has no real 'enemies'.
Additional Information» I'll add stuff as I see fit, but so far I think that's all we need to know about Talon
