Phoenix was sitting in the dining hall, as far away from the other Veritas students as he could get. He wasn't feeling particularly social, but at the same time, he was dealing with this weird sense of loneliness. It was odd; he'd never really cared too much about putting himself out there and trying to make friends.
But now...now things were different. He didn't want to talk to anyone, but he was hoping someone would come and talk to him. It didn't make much sense to Phoenix, but then again, not many things did.
Picking at his food, Phoenix eyed the other students curiously, trying to psych himself up so he could make an effort to speak to someone. Even if it was just a "hello" or something like that. At least he could say he was attempting to be social.
He took a deep breath and was about to move a little closer to a group of students when someone plopped themselves down across from him. He stared for a moment, then found his voice. "Um, hi there."

It was a good day for Silver. She got a passing mark in math, learned a new skill in her telekinesis, and didn't get mad all day. Silver walked into the cafeteria with her food and looked around. 'Damn, this place is packed ...' she thought to self as she played with her potatoes. Finally, she found a place to sit across from a guy. He looked a little lonely anyway, so it couldn't hurt to sit with him, right?
"Hey," Silver greeted back with a smile. This guy seemed to be a bit shy, seeing how he was all alone back here. "What's new with you?" She ate a little scoop of her potatoes as she looked at him. It wasn't usual for her to talk with random people. In fact, she did it all the time. Some people think she nuts though, but others actually need the little booster, and to her he looked like he needed one.

Phoenix eyed the girl warily, unsure of what to say after she had spoken to him. He wasn't the type who made friends easily, and he wasn't exactly a social butterfly. But he figured he could try and think of something and hope he didn't sound stupid or dull.
Fidgeting nervously, he watched her as she ate her food. He glanced at his own food in front of him, then picked up his glass of water and took a sip, feeling a little more at ease as he answered her question.
"Um, nothing new with me, really," Phoenix mumbled, staring down at the table. "I, uh, I've been practicing my power. I can create little sparks with my fingers now."
He smiled as he said that, a sense of pride washing over him. Having an ability and being different from most people made him happy. And being able to talk about it with someone who could understand also made him happy. That revelation surprised him, considering very few things were enjoyable to him.
"How about you?" he asked. "Is there anything new with you? What's your name, anyway?" Phoenix felt the sense of pride growing. He was actually talking to someone! This isn't so hard after all, he thought to himself with a smile.

Silver smiled wide and nodded. "What power do you have?" she asked out of curiosity. "I have telekinesis." Silver gave him a kind and fun smile as she took another bite of her potatoes. She loved meeting new people, especially when their powers seemed so interesting. Her curious mind kinda prevented her from not asking about the power of another student like herself.
"Oh right!" Silver laughed and smirked some. "Forgot to say my name. Well, my name is Sylvia, but a lot of people call me Silver for short." she told him as she crossed her legs on the chair. "You're Phoenix, right?" Silver tilted her head to the side some as she looked at him. "Yes! That's your name." Silver smiled wide and sipped her pop as she hovered on the chair a little, making her butt stop touching the seat.

Phoenix hesitated for only a moment before saying, "Oh, I have the power of a...well, a phoenix." He laughed, finding it ironic in a way. "I can't create flames yet, but I can make sparks. I can hover a little way off the ground when I really concentrate. And my touch can heal a little. Still working on that."
He smiled, taking another sip of his water. "So you can move things with your mind? That's pretty cool. That could come in handy at times." He gazed wistfully at the table for a moment, then shook his head, feeling a bit foolish for not keeping up with the conversation. She had said her name, but he hadn't been paying attention. Had she said it was Silver? Fascinating.
"Nice to meet you, um, Silver," he replied, nodding his head. "That is my name, yeah. I don't have a nickname, so I guess you can just call me Phoenix."

Silver listened as he told her about his power. "Much better than what I can do anyway," she told him with a smirk. "I can hover, but that doesn't exactly come with the telekinesis power." In her head, she decided that she might like Phoenix, mainly because he wasn't mean or rude like any other boys in the school. Besides, his power was wicked compared to what she had.
"Ok, Phoenix it is then." Silver said with a kind smile as she sipped from her pop bottle. "So, what grade are you in?" She tilted her head to the side some, making her fiery red hair fall to the side.
