Mother» Estefania Vega-Duarte (36)
Father» Ramon Soto-Perez (deceased)
Siblings» Adelina Vega-Duarte(6)
Family History» Rafael was born to a young Estefania a little bit outside of Chihuahua Mexico. Rafi loves his mother very much, and would do anything in the world to make her happy – and she would do the same for her son. Rafi’s father was in and out of their family picture for the first 6 years of Rafael’s life. He remembered loving his dad, but isn’t sure why or if he was really that great of a person. His mom still talks well of him. When Rafael was 6, Ramon was killed in a random shooting in the city.
Rafael’s mother never remarried but six years ago had a daughter – Adalina. Rafi adores the little girl and strives to be a sort of fill-in for the father who doesn’t want any part in her. (Which is why she has both of her mother’s last names).

Personality» Rafi is farily quiet by nature, but very fun and personable if you go out of your way to talk to him. He isn’t ever forceful or vindictive. He is a gentle and kind soul who doesn’t understand how there can be so much evil in the world. He wants to make a difference in the world he sees as evil, but still isn’t sure how. He is cautious and careful with his words and actions and often comes across as wise. Some may think he is “preachy” when he begins speaking philosophically or about God, but sometimes that is the only way he can get across what is on his mind – seeing as he has only been speaking English for 4 years now.
Rafi is very religious but not in a classical sense. He believes in god but also heavily questions him and his ways, while ignoring most of the preachings of the church.
Likes - history, cultures, classical guitar, drawing, soccer, fresh produce, fairy tales
Dislikes - promiscuity, loud areas, blood, math, sciences, racial discrimination

Academics» Rafi is pretty average overall. He excels in arts and languages and struggles in science and math, giving him an overall B to A average depending on the course loads at a given time.
Powers» Necromancy/Resurrection: the ability to raise the dead
Discovery» When Rafael’s first pet – a stray dog he named ‘Estufa’ – died he was distraught. The then 10 year old Rafi put his arms around the animal, who had been lifeless for quite a few minutes. Within moments the warmth reentered the dogs body and his tail began wagging again. At first, it was called a miracle, because the only excuse Rafael had was that he prayed. But a man in the small town he lived in convinced him otherwise. The man pointed him in the direction of Veritas Academy when he was of age. The man told him that upon his father’s death, Rafi had placed his hands on his father at the funeral, and the man had flickered to life – but only briefly. Most people dismissed it as an illusion but the man remembered.
Weakness/Vulnerability» Regarding his power, Rafi doesn’t get any “side effects” from resurrecting somebody, however the conditions must be right for the process to go smoothly. Firstly, a person/animal can only be resurrected once. This creates a problem if the subject has died from a serious wound as in the case of his father. The subject will come back to life only to die shortly after from the same injury which took its life the first time. The soul of the person/animal must WANT to return to life. (There is no way for Rafi to tell unless he is with somebody who can talk to spirits). Also, Rafi cannot resurrect somebody without the body and spirit present.
Weakness in personality include a general quietness which makes him go unnoticed from time to time. Also, his questioning, philosophical nature can become annoying to certain types of people. His English still isn’t great, and sometimes he has to fish for words while in conversation.
Strengths» Rafi is level headed and calm. He is very very rarely angry or overly emotional. He is accepting of criticism, constantly trying to better himself as a person. He embraces his power as a gift, which has allowed him to understand it quite well. He is also a talented soccer player.
