"No, it's fine. You didn't know," Dakota told her, trying to shrug it off. Most people weren't so terrified of their power and if they had control over power, they wouldn't hate it like Dakota did. He nodded at her. It was really difficult, so difficult. "Anger only fuels my power. Makes it more prone to becoming out of control." He kicked at a pinecone on the forest floor as he spoke.
He considered what she said. "I've never thought of that. You think it would work?" His mind began turning with ideas. If he released it in the swimming pool or in the shower, it wouldn't affect anybody would it? It would just create steam.
He tried not to laugh when she fell from hovering on her back, but he managed a small chuckle anyway. "Sorry, I just wasn't expecting that," he said, feeling bad for laughing. "I know what you mean though. It's horrible if you don't let it out."

"Well, what's stopping you from using your power?" Silver asked him. She didn't even think that her question could have a personal answer. "I-if you want to tell me I mean ... you don't have to tell me if it's personal or embarrassing or whatever ..." Silver gave him a wide smile as she mentally slapped herself in the face. 'That could'v been a personal answer you dingbat!' she hissed to herself in her head.
"Well when you put out fire it creates steam right?" she said, "maybe you could use that knowledge for your anger." Silver tapped her bottom lip again and began to think of a past event that involved fire and water. "Well once my aunt accidentally blew up my microwave, and when we used water to put it out a bunch of steam came up."
Silver jumped up and hovered again as soon as she recovered from the fall, which didn't take that long. "It's all right," she laughed waving her hand lightly. "Everyone needs a laugh every once in a while." She nodded at what he said last, agreeing with him completely. "Sadly, it's true. It hurts everywhere if you don't let it out in some form or another."

"It's not really that personal," Dakota told her when she started to get wary of asking him about it. "I just fear it. I've hurt other people before with it...and I used to have horrible nightmares for a long time before my power even really started. I woke up one night with my bed on fire." It was a long time ago, but it still haunted him. And the months of therapy afterwards hadn't been extremely helpful.
"Maybe," Dakota mused. "I'd really just like to use anything to make this easier on myself. Considering fire is just not....I'm not meant to have this power." He shrugged and then chuckled at her example. He liked Silver, he decided. Her sense of humor was hilarious as she had random outbursts of thoughts that she said out loud. It kept making him grin.

Silver nodded and she listened to his story. She knew when to talk and when to shut her trap. It was something she learned from her family. When he was done, she bit her lip. "The part about you waking up to burning sheets would be funny," she began, "but if it was caused by a nightmare it's not funny at all ... in fact more terrifying than that." Silver began to look around, realizing that they were in the setting of most of his nightmares. "So why are you in the woods?" She finally asked him.
"Welcome to the club buddy," Silver said with a smirk. "I think my powers have a growing hatred towards me. Seriously, it broke one of my ouija boards in half ..." She put on a fake pout, then smirked again. "Seriously though, the only way you'll ever overcome your fire fear is if you use it somewhere you can control it. That's how I learned to control this god forsaken power of mine." It really wasn't that hard when you were in the right setting. Trying to control fire in a place that has flammable items ... not such a great idea. Silver would know, she's the freaking queen of bad ideas.

"It was scary. I didn't know what was wrong with me. And my parents heard me screaming down the hallway. They came rushing in and they put the fire out, and then they kept deciding that they needed to figure out what was wrong with me. Therapy session after therapy session, and I was told that I had an anger problem. When really, my anger was only a result of my power." Dakota sighed, sagging his shoulders. "I came to the forest....because I wanted to see if going back to the source of my nightmares would help me stop having them. I don't know. It's stupid, I know." He rubbed the back of his neck, looking over at Silver, who was going on about her power, but she talked about it as if it was a joke and he admired her for being able to laugh at herself.
"You do present a good point though. I'll have to try using it in water." He made a note of it.

Silver landed on her feet again and leaned against a tree. "It's actually not a bad idea," she said, "going to the source of your nightmares I mean." Silver tilted her head and crossed her arms as he looked him in the eyes. She always did this, for it meant confidence and friendliness. It was what she was taught back in New Brunswick. Look someone in the eyes shows that they can trust you, if not you looked like a shifty loser.
The sky had turned pink by then and she looked up. "Pretty isn't it?" she asked with a smile spreading across her face. "I wish a brought my camera, would've been a good shoot for photography."
