Just like regular school time, they had to wear uniforms for this class too. It was just a plain t-shirt, and shorts with the Spiritus logo plastered on it. They had to wear this uniform too in gym, and would get really smelly by the end of the week. Luckily, it was Monday, so the uniform was crisp, and clean.
Everyone was just getting settled into their assigned spots, and was chatting quietly among themselves, until the teacher showed up. Penny didn't have any friends in the class though, so she just sat there silently, staring at the door, hoping the teacher would save her from awkwardness.

Everett waited impatiently for class to begin, concentrating on his hands and the electricity pulsing between his two palms. One could feel it if they placed their hand between his. He felt like a giant ball of electricity today. His hair was standing on edge so much that morning that he had to shower. It seemed like the electricity only built up, waiting to be released and it was one of those times when he was so charged it was impossible to concentrate.
As he boredly waited for the instructor, he raised a hand slightly and closed his eyes, grinning as the lights flickered on and off.

The lights began flickering on, and off. She wondered if it was like that story Tim was telling her about, how someone at Veritas was trying to shut off their power again. But no, it was a boy sitting a row away from her, raising his hand up, and down, playing with the lights. She watched fascinated. He must be very powerful if he could use electricity, just like that.
She nudged herself over a little, so she closer next to the boy. "Wow, you're really good at huh?" She looked up at the ceiling again, watching it turn on, and off, at his whim.

Everett was amused. It was a simple thing he was doing that only took the simple flick of his wrist. And not to mention, it was hilarious to see confused faces from the people around him. A girl's gaze landed on him and he looked back at her, a grin on his face as she nudged closer to him. "You could say that," he said with a soft laugh. The girl was so fascinated by something so simple that wasn't even the extent of his power. "Perfect for scary ghost stories, right?"
He was mostly just bored, waiting on class to start and Everett needed to entertain himself.

"My name's Penny, by the way." She then scooched back to her spot quickly, since the teacher was walking in. He was one of those stereotypical gym teachers that looked like he was straight out of the military, and had a big, booming voice.
"Today class, we will be doing an obstacle course! Each person has unique powers, so there will be several courses laid out! First two lines, stay inside, next to two lines, go outside to the courtyard, and the last two lines, go out back to the soccer field." Penny stayed seated, and watched as everyone shuffled to their locations. The teacher was barking some more orders, but she started spacing out at that point.

"Everett," he replied in a low voice as the teacher walked in to start the class. One of those burly gym teachers that looked like he bench pressed sumowrestlers in his spare time. He paid no mind to Everett flickering the lights and he was surprised, because normally he got reprimanded, especially at Spiritus. Nobody liked to put up with his nonsense, but Everett was all about nonsense.
He half-listened to the instructions, finally leaving the lights off and leaning back boredly on his hands before turning his head to look over at Penny. "Hey, what did he say? Am I supposed to stay in here?" He probably should have listened the first time, but he was having way too much fun with the lights even if the gym teacher didn't seem to find it entertaining.

She nodded her head. "Yeah, both of our lines are staying in here. I wonder what we're doing..." There were so many ways to train one's powers, but why was everyone here together? Everyone's powers were random, and none of them seemed alike. What could they throw at the kids, that they could all face with their powers?
"So I'm sure you're wondering what today's task is," the teacher boomed. She was amused by the fact that he seemed to guess exactly what she was thinking, and smiled a bit. "This is what you'll be facing, I'm sure you're all be creative with how to deal with it." A few interns rolled in a big, strange looking contraption. It was a machine definitely, but it had lots of gadgets, and buttons, and do-hickeys all over it. It seemed to have multiple power sources over the thing, but it was hard to tell what it ran on from all the way back here.
"How about you go first, Mr. Light Flicker?" The teacher sarcastically said.

"I don't know, but it better be worth while. I could be sleeping right now," Everett pointed out, turning away from the girl and back to the teacher in front of them. A big machine was rolled in and Everett examined it, trying to figure out exactly what it was and what it did. Then he felt the eyes of the teacher land on him and he grinned, leaving the lights on and getting to his feet.
"I prefer Electric Ev. It has a ring to it, don't you think?" he said back to the guy, walking up in front of the class to the machine. "What is this thing?"

"I'm not particularly sure myself. They shipped these machines in today, and I was instructed to use this as combat training. I tried some of functions on it earlier, and I can assure you it, it has some surprises." He boomed, ignoring the child's comment.
Penny sat against the wall, along with the other students who sat down interested at the machine. She never saw them do anything like this for gym before. She wondered what it could do. The coach seemed to be very pleased knowing that Everett was going first. This made her even more concerned with what the training robot could do.
