It had been a while since Elijah was able to speak to his son, and he was done with waiting. That child, Adaryn, was bringing the dreamwalker into her dreams with her. In the beginning, he had thought she would be a relatively easy target, shy and defenseless, but she seemed to have acquired a useful circle of friends. It annoyed him greatly.
What was even worse was that the girl was in Veritas. Surely he could easily observe a student from the walls of Spiritus, but when it came to Veritas, the only eyes he had were his son's. Tanner had been a very tough child to break, but once he had the help of a very old friend, the child had gone completely obedient. It was reassuring to know that his son was there, whether the boy liked it or not.
Cranbrook had been his home for many years, even before Veritas and Spiritus appeared. The only place that remained throughout the years was the Library, so he chose this to hold his servants, prisoners, and other useful items there. But it wasn't above ground in the library itself, it was below. The entrance was found in what appeared to be a storage room, but that was merely a charm put on by that same friend. No regular human or the power children could see past the charm. Though only the power children had the capability of being able to enter.
As an order, his servants were lined up in front of him. Each looked terrified, and Elijah grinned. He could practically smell the fear radiating off the men. "Fetch me my child and be hasty, for I cannot stay here long. " For a moment, the servants stayed in their spots and Elijah snorted impatiently "GO!" He boomed. They all scrambled away, leaving Elijah there, rubbing his temples in annoyance. "Sometimes I wonder why I don't kill them off. They are an idiotic bunch, I swear."

When the servants came for him, Tanner did not fight as he used to. It was no longer a struggle to get away that ended in him beaten and bloody. He simply obeyed, only objecting when they tried to pull him by the arm. He knew how to walk for himself. He also knew where the lair was. It was a clever spot, underground the Cranbrook public library.
He wondered what his father needed him for today, but he'd wait until he arrived there. The servants probably didn't know anyway. It didn't seem as if Elijah told them much.
He followed the men into the storage room and through the entrance, standing before his father. He was still in his usual attire, a dark shirt and jeans, as he had come straight from school. He looked like a typical student, but he was much more, much more than he wanted to be, but he wasn't aware of that. "Good afternoon, father.'

The servants had taken far too long to bring his son than Elijah had wanted. Did they get lost on their way to the school? It wouldn't surprise him. They had the intelligence of a bee, with the exception of one or two. Sadly, Elijah had those two working on something else he needed. He didn't even find himself blaming his son for the delays any longer. Tanner was entirely under his control, and would kill himself before he disobeyed his father.
"Hello, son." Elijah's eyes lit up as he looked over his 17 year old son. He was developing well, and as much as he despised Veritas, he could see that they were taking care of him. Wonderful, he will be of even more use now that he can overpower a target of average build. Elijah thought excitedly.
"I suppose you would like to know why I called you here today," He started, standing up and making his way toward his son. He circled around the boy, examining his attire, and then picked at his hair. He made a face of disgust. "God, child! I have not the slightest idea as to why you insist on ruining your hair like this!" Stopping in front of Tanner, he waved a hand dismissively "Never mind that though. Do tell me you are interested in hearing what I would like you to do for me, son." Elijah raised a brow, waiting for his response. He would need to see how strong this charm really was for his second request. He knew Tanner wouldn't like it, but if this charm was strong enough, he would not question it.

Tanner stood before his father, arms crossed as he looked at him. "Well, yes. I would like to know why I'm here." He watched as his father crossed over to him. He hated when he touched his hair and ignored his comment about it. He was not ruining his hair. He was just dying it darker. The blonde had gotten old. He was glad when Elijah dropped it. "What would you like me to do?"
It was an easy question to ask. Tanner would have tried to fight him, to get away. He would have refused to do anything for his father, but this wasn't Tanner. At least, it wasn't how he wanted to be, or chose to be.

He smiled, enjoying the fact that his son no longer fought him. As a young boy, he would always talk back and to be honest, Elijah had a few moments where he just wanted to shut him up for good. In a way he had with the charm, but he still had somewhat of a mind of his own, so he could jerk away and sneer at his father. As much as that annoyed him, he was okay with it, because at the end of the day, his child would never say no to him. That was what all that mattered.
" I would like you to follow and try and get close to a freshman in your school. Her name is Adaryn Breslin. She is an Empath, short, long brown hair with blue eyes." He started, picking at his son's hair once more. It was hideous, it really was. "And also, I would like you to invite your friend, Ms. Maddox, to dinner with us. I would love to meet her."

Adaryn...sounded familiar. As did the description of her. Tanner nodded at his father. "Ah, I've seen her around before. She's really quiet. What about her?" He was particularly good at charming girls. He'd ask her to the snow ball. It was coming up after all. "Is she becoming too much of a fighter?" Cain hated when they tried to defeat him, because his father knew it was impossible. He hated when his victims had any ounce of confidence.
He moved out of the way of his father's hand, annoyed. "My hair, my choice." Technically he'd only dyed his hair after the charm was put on him, so that was his father's fault, although it wasn't as if Tanner was aware of it. "And yeah, I'll invite Skye. It's about time you meet her anyway. I think she likes me." He smirked. "Any certain day you have in mind?"

"You do not need to know the reasons behind orders, Tanner. Just do what I ask, alright?" Knowledge was power, and Tanner needed to be as powerless as Elijah could help. "That would be fine if you did ask her. It would give me a chance to keep an especially close eye on her. But if she says no, then don't pursue her. Just watch from afar." He instructed. No need for her to get suspicious of anything.
"As for Skylar, any day you have free from school work would be alright. So more than likely on a weekend. I can't have you falling behind in school." Honestly, Elijah was only saying that to sound somewhat fatherly. He was too old to even care about anything anymore. "I know you have the snow ball soon, so make sure it doesn't interfere with that. Though I am sure I do not have to tell you that."

Tanner nodded in response to what his father said. He'd ask her and hope that she said yes, but otherwise he'd keep an eye on her, just like he'd said. "She's usually surrounded by Montgomery and Eaton. She'll be easy to spot, but they probably won't leave her side, I hope you know that." His father was probably planning something. "That's all you want me to do? Watch her?"
"I'm doing fine in school," he told him. "But I will invite her over as soon as I can."

“Oh I understand that perfectly,”Considering that child already brought that dreamwalker into her dream intentionally and pulled her out before she should have. “But I still need you to report back if you see any suspicious behavior between the three. And by suspicious, I do mean anything that seems out of the ordinary for them.” He wasn’t going to allow another one of those little episodes to happen again. He was still bitter about the whole thing. That next day he felt absolutely horrid. That dreamwalker boy was starting to realize his true potential, and that was not something that Elijah wanted. “As for Skylar, I do look forward to meeting her. I hope she isn’t a vegetarian because there will be quite a feast set up just for the three of us.” He had heard that Skylar was very powerful and could reverse the powers, or the effects of charms and such. Elijah would have to figure out how much she knew about Tanner, and if she was utterly clueless, he would feel a bit better. But she would still be thoroughly watched by many, including Tanner himself. If she started becoming a problem, she would be dead, and just to make it interesting, he would have the one person she would never expect to hurt her do it. He grinned. “I am glad you are doing well in school. That is all.” He dismissed his son quickly, turning away and not paying him any mind after that. He didn’t have to make an order, because his servants were already escorting him out. Let us see how this plays out, shall we?
