"Oh!" Mikayla said in surprise when her outstretched hands hit something soft but solid. The rest of her body followed and she was leaning against, she realised, Ethan's chest. She could feel his heartbeat beneath one of her hands. She scrambled until her feet were beneath her properly and she could stand. With her feet under her she no longer had all of her body weight against him, but she stayed there for a moment to catch her breath, her heartbeat steadying before picking up its pace again as she realised how close she was to him. She removed her hands immediately from his chest and stumbled back to put space between them, nearly tripping again as she did so. She felt an intense blush flare up her cheeks and she place a hand over one side of her face in embarrassment.
"I stood up to walk over here and tripped," she admitted in a mumble. The snow outside had stopped and was just its usual autumn windy-ness outside. "Oh my gosh, I'm so embarrassed. I-I'm usually not that clumsy." Oh, what he must think of her now. She wanted to crawl into a hole and hide there forever. Her heart was still beating rapidly as she remembered how close she had been to him. How her hands had been on his chest. And how she hadn't hated it. Oh no, not at all. Oh my god, Mikayla, she silently scolded herself. He's your teacher and you have Gabe! What are you thinking?

Ethan gave her a smile and grabbed her hand when she almost tripped. "Careful ... god knows what could be in those boxes ..." he let go of her hand as soon as she was able to stand up without tripping over a box or something sharp. "Your foot must'v got caught in the chair. No worries, that actually happens to me sometimes." Ethan sounded all cool and collective, but on the inside his heart was beating ten times faster than the normal rate. 'You can't be with her, Ethan! She's your student!' he thought to himself as he face clearly showed a little pink on his cheeks.
"Ah," Ethan said awkwardly as he let out a cough. "You sure you're all right? Did you twist your ankle or something?" His voice sounded concerned, as always, but he just felt like he wanted her to be all right. Ethan mentally slapped himself in the face and thought, 'You can't be with her, even if you wanted to, she wouldn't want that. I mean, she's a freaking teen for Christ's sake! What teen would want to date their TA??'

When she stepped back and nearly tripped, she felt a pain shoot through her. She smiled gratefully when Ethan grabbed her hand, saving her once again. She tested her weight on her left ankle and frowned when pain shot up her leg again. "Damn it," she sighed. "I think I did. Can you sense it?" she wondered, "I mean, I think you knew my ankle was injured before I did. That's pretty useful." Damn. Now she had to walk around with a bum ankle because she had tripped twice. How was she supposed to get around now? She didn't dare ask Ethan to heal her even though she knew he could. Even though it didn't hurt that bad when she didn't put weight on it, it certainly killed when she did, and she didn't want him to feel that just to ease her own pain. That would be selfish of her. It was just a sprained ankle; it would heal on its own.
She kept holding onto his hand for balance as she stood there, her left leg holding all of her weight because she dared not put any pressure on the injured ankle. "Can you help me back to the chair?" she asked with a grimace. "I don't think I can put weight on it."

Ethan held her hand and forearm to keep her up. "I ... did feel something, yes." he told her with as he looked at her. "It seems bad." That was all he could say? Really? After all those years of making friends and he still didn't know how to talk to people. Ah well ... he was speaking the truth. It actually felt worse that how she puts it out to be.
Ethan slowly seated her down in the black leather chair, still holding her hand and forearm until she was seated. Then he took an empty box and placed her twisted foot onto it, to levitate it so it didn't hurt so bad. "Maybe I can take away the pain?" he asked her softly, knowing it will be a nightmare to walk around blind with a twisted ankle, or at least a sprained one at that. Ethan knelt down on one knee and looked up at her. "Would you like me to?"

She was fascinated by his powers, but until she could sit down and rest her ankle, she did not have the attention to focus on it and ask more questions. "It's not that bad. Just hurts to stand on," she admitted with a grimace as he helped her sit on the chair. She could not help but wish his hand was still on her arm when he pulled away, but immediately squashed the feeling. What was wrong with her?
She winced as he lifted her foot onto a box, but shook her head when he offered to heal her. "No, Ethan, I cannot ask you to do that. The pain isn't that horrible, but I don't want you to feel it, either. I can just wrap my ankle and pop some pain killers or something until it heals."

Ethan sighed lightly and looked up at her. "It will help with navigating around the school." he told her in a concerned tone. "Please, let me heal it, it will only hurt me for a few minutes, but if I don't it will hurt you for longer." This was true. The pain he received from healing minor injuries were only brief and didn't last very long. A sprained ankle will only pain him for a few minutes, and he usually feels it where they feel the pain. He can deal with a few minutes of a sore ankle.
His hand stayed on her ankle as he sighed lightly. "Minor injuries like this don't hurt me as much, Mikayla." he assured her. "A few minutes of a sore ankle won't bother me any. It's you I'm worried about, not my own self." He ran a thumb over the bruise that had formed on her ankle, wanting to heal what pain she is having. He didn't want her to feel pain, it would make him feel bad then.

Mikayla felt conflicted. She knew that navigating herself around the school on a twisted ankle would not be easy, and she would need to get herself to the nurse's office so her ankle could be properly wrapped. But even then she would have to walk around a lot slower than she already did, and life until her ankle healed would be a pain.
But at the same time, she did not want Ethan to have to feel any pain because of her, even if he did insist it wouldn't be so bad. "I don't know," she said hesitantly. "I mean, it doesn't hurt that badly, but still. I would feel so guilty." When she felt his hand on her ankle and he ran his thumb over the most painful part, she winced and hissed in pain through her teeth. There was no way she would be able to walk on that. "I just..." She sighed. "Ethan, if you're sure, then you can. But... I still feel bad. Ugh," she groaned. "I can't believe I was such a klutz, though. I should have moved slower. I know I should have moved slower!" she exclaimed, beating herself up for her injury.

Ethan could feel how much pain she was in, and it seemed like it hurt to bad to even stand up on it. He let out a soft sigh and held her ankle firmly, but gently. The tip of his thumb could already feel it swelling from her bending it the wrong way. When she beat herself up over being to clumsy, he shook his head and smiled softly. "Everyone's clumsy, Mikayla," he said it a kind tone, "it's my fault for not cleaning this place up anyway. I should'v at least put the boxes on the floor up somewhere high so that no one can trip over them."
He then nodded and wrapped his whole hand round her ankle. 'This is gonna throb ...' he thought to himself as he focused his energy onto her ankle. Little by little he began to feel a faint throbbing in his ankle, but it wasn't a major pain like what she had. The pain grew stronger, but still tolerable, as he felt the swollen bruise began to fade and shrink. In no time at all, her ankle was back to normal, only leaving a little after-healing swelling. "The swelling with remain, but you can walk normally and at your own pace." Ethan finally told her after standing up. He leaned on his good foot, for his other still throbbed a little. It wouldn't last though, no minor injury did.

"Not everyone is clumsy," she argued, but smiled. She appreciated how kind he was being to her and how he was trying to make her feel better, physically and psychologically. "You're unpacking; you can't have expected a student to interrupt you while you were moving in. Especially a blind student," she pointed out teasingly. She grinned and then added, "We should both stop blaming ourselves."
She braced herself when he began to heal her, hoping it wouldn't hurt him too badly. The guilt was already eating away at her the moment the pain in her ankle began to ease. She knew Ethan could not feel it. When the pain was gone, she closed her eyes and shook her head. "Thank you. But... are you okay?" she asked softly when she heard him stand up. She stood too, testing her ankle. There was no pain. She could not even tell it was swollen. It was back to normal, but his wasn't.
(ooc: They should have a moment and then she should leave quickly because yikes feelings)

Ethan gave her a reassuring smile, but he knew she couldn't see it, so instead he decided to put a hand on her shoulder. Nothing intimate ... at least he hoped not. "It'll go away within an hour or so." he told her. "But how are you? Do you feel any pain or anything like that?"
His ankle began to hurt slightly, but that was only an indication that his power worked. If he did it fully or not, he couldn't tell you for sure until he asked the person. It really sucked to feel pain, but healing someone, especially with a disability, was enough to force himself to suffer the pain he would get.
ooc: Totally, but how can that happen? Hmm ...

(ooc: I got this)
She felt his hand on her shoulder, and relaxed under his touch. "I hope it goes away sooner," she told him, smiling grimly. "I'll feel better when I know you're no longer in pain. But physically, I'm fine," she replied.
She felt truly terrible that her pain was now transfered to him. Even though it made sense why he had offered to heal her. Getting around without the ability to see was already difficult, and so having an injured ankle would have made it a whole lot worse. Still, she would have preferred for Ethan not to feel the pain either. Without really thinking about it, she lifted her hand and took Ethan's - the one he had laid on her shoulder - and intwined her fingers with his. She felt her heart speed up at the contact, but stood there as a wave on inexplicable longing grew between them. Once she realised the longing was a longing to be physically closer to him, she stepped back, pulling her hand from his, and ducked her head. Oh, my god, she thought. I can't be attracted to my teacher!
"I should go," she said suddenly. "I have an essay and you're still unpacking. I'm sorry," she added, then turned and slowly made her way to the door, using her hands to guide her through the box-filled room. When she reached the door, she turned back towards him. "Thank you," she said, then smiled. "I'm looking forward to seeing you again, Ethan. In the metaphorical tense," she added with a playful smile.

Ethan smiled at her concerned tone. "Don't worry," he stated, "I can barely feel it. It's onl a light throbbing, but not enough to make me limp in any sort of way." 'And thank god for that too,' he then thought to himself, 'otherwise I would trip over almost everything and make myself look like an utter fool ...' And that he didn't really want, well, not before the students got to know him anyway.
Just then, he felt her hand touch his that was on her shoulder, and she twined their fingers together. Ethan's face heated up slightly at the contact. 'I can't be in love with my student!!' he snapped at himself, basically punishing himself for being in love. But, how could he ignore those feelings? He didn't even know himself. When Mikayla let go of his hand and guided herself to the door, he shot her back a kind smile. "I won't keep you any longer then," he said, "as most teachers would say, you are dismissed." 'Smooth, real smooth Forrester.
