Rise and Shine [Tanner & Skylar]

[Admin Sydnee]

It was Sunday morning, well, for Tanner it was the morning. And that meant it was nearly noon when he rolled out of bed and meandered over to the female dormitories, knocking repeatedly on the door of the room where Skylar lived with her roommates. He needed a swim. A free swim, not a scheduled one that was a practice with the entire team. Besides, if there was anybody on the team that he really got along with, it was Skylar. They'd clicked immediately. And honestly, Jade was too quiet to get to know and Aura...kind of freaked him out and he wasn't sure why.

"Skye!" he called. It would be a lot more fun if she was there with him. When nobody answered, he did something that would be considered rude and threw open the door, but not before freezing time. He grinned as he walked inside and found Skylar. Her roommates must have already been out and about, but there she was, still in bed. He didn't even need to be sneaky, his power allowed him to be.

He crawled onto the bed and unfroze time, shaking her shoulders. "Rise and shine Skylar!"

Knock Knock Knock

It was Sunday morning and there was swim practice the day before for about an hour, and coach was grilling them even harder than usual. By the end of the day, she was out cold in about five minutes flat. The knocks on her door were what finally woke her up, even her room mates gave up trying about an hour ago and she groaned, adjusting in bed and placing one of her pillows over her ears. "Go away," She muttered. and began drifting off once more.

Knock Knock Knock

"Skye!" She heard her name being called by a deeper voice, which meant it was a male, though Skylar didn't register that yet. She pressed the pillow over her ears harder, hoping to block out the noise. Then it just stopped for a split second, and she considered that a moment of peace. It was short lived though, because a second later, somebody was on her bed shaking her awake.

She bolted up it her bed only to be greeted by the sight of Tanner on her bed, and she screamed. "Tanner! What the hell are you doing in my room?! You know you can't just freeze time and crawl into my room!" Her fists connected with his chest, even though she was secretly glad that it was Tanner and not some male admirer that she didn't know. Or worse, a rapist.

She looked around quickly, searching for the time and seeing that it was Noon. "You see that clock Tanner?" She pointed towards it "It says it is 12:00, and you know that if you do not see me in the halls at Noon, you cannot disturb me until one!" Skylar was groggy, and was by far the worst person to be around after she had just woken up. She fell back onto her bed with a plop, staring at the ceiling, Tanner still beside her.

After a while with Tanner still sitting there, she turned to face him, still laying down of course. "Okay Tanner, you win. What's up?"

Tanner burst into laughter at her face when she saw him on the bed. She was pounding her fists on his chest with no avail and it only made him laugh harder. "Yes I can. I just did," he replied with a grin, moving over so he was no longer practically over her. "See, I hate waking up early too, but this is not early. I woke up like fifteen minutes ago and thought it was time you got up as well." He knew that just like him, she was not necessarily pleasant in the morning.

She finally gave up and rolled over to look at him. "I always win," he told her with a smirk. "What's up is we are due for a Sunday swim!"

[Lux]

Skylar raised an eyebrow "Oh really? So now you get to decide when I wake up now? Well Tanner, if you haven't noticed by now, I am the superior one. For one, I am a female. And also, I am older, or have you forgotten?" Boys were ridiculous thinking they were superior because they had extra height to them. She snorted.

"Shut up Tanner, I can prove that statement wrong in many ways." She challenged, kicking him in the side. Not hard enough to hurt, but enough to show him she wasn't playing around. It was much too early for that. She perked up slightly when he said he wanted to go for a swim, though she didn't show it. "That is what you got me up for? You really are eager for me to kick your ass." Skylar pulled the covers off of her, glad she had decided to wear baggy pj pants and a tank top instead of just her under garments. She swung her legs off the side of the bed and sat there for a moment, waiting for Tanner to leave. "Well?" She raised a brow when he didn't move. "I can't change until I see your ass out of that door. And I swear to god I will kick you in the junk if you even think about taking a peek without me knowing." At this, she stood up and crossed her arms, tapping her foot impatiently and watched him make his way out.

"God, that guy..." Skylar groaned and headed over to the chair she left her swimsuit hanging on. She was too lazy to even wash it last night. Picking it up, the smell of chlorine hit her instantly, and it was almost comforting. Swimming was her life, and one of the things she was great at. She quickly slipped off her clothes, freshened up, put on the swimsuit, and then some shorts and another tank without showering. It would have been a hassle to go all the way to the Veritas Bathrooms to do so. She would just do it in the locker rooms.

By the time she finished, she was awake and in a significantly better mood. She opened the door while in the middle of putting her hair in a bun. "Alright babe, ready to go?"

[Admin Sydnee]

"You're the superior one?" Tanner laughed as he lightly shoved her. "Oh, Maddox, you make me laugh." He grinned when she kicked him in the side and only watched to see her get out of bed. "No lingerie? Jeez, way to ruin a guy's dream, Sky." It was a joke, but it made him laugh anyway just to see the look on her face as she crawled out of bed and began coaxing him out of the room.

He finally left the room, still smiling to himself and waiting outside the door for her. His trunks were under his clothes. He was prepared of course. Always prepared. "I've been ready," he told her when she opened the door. "Let's go."

[Lux]

Sometimes Skylar really wanted to smack some sense into Tanner, but she was afraid that if she did hit him, he would somehow lose that pretty little accent of his. Tanner had told her that he was from Brighton when she asked him, since she was curious about the random guy with a British accent in Cranbrook, Canada.

The Veritas indoor pool was a bit of a distance from the girls dorm, but since she was still a bit tired, she couldn't seem to think of a decent conversation starter. "So you ready to get beat?" She raised a brow at Tanner playfully, gently elbowing him in the ribs. "Cause you know I am faster than you." So far, Skylar has one every single race they had, except for the first one. She was already exhausted from a long practice and he insisted he race her. So, like the competitive person she was, Skylar agreed. That was probably the most humiliating day ever. She proved herself after that though. Every. Single. Time.

They reached the locker room and she instantly went to the showers and washed off. It felt nice, and she didn't wait for Tanner. She went to the pool and sat on the edge and stuck her feet in, watching the few other people swimming. The water felt cool, and Skylar put her head back and sighed, kicking her feet slowly.

[Admin Sydnee]

"Oh, I am so ready, Sky. You have no idea," Tanner said, smirking in his direction as they went their separate ways into the locker rooms. He stripped off his clothes and showered quickly before walking out and heading towards the pool where Skylar was sitting, kicking her feet in the water.

"See, I was under the impression that we were going to have a nice relaxing swim and now you're challenging me to a race." He sighed, pretending to be annoyed. "I just can't resist." He jumped into the pool, making sure that water splashed Skylar and laughed. "Come on already, Maddox!" He grinned at her though.

He felt refreshed already. He'd still felt a bit odd waking up this morning as he realized that he'd asked a Freshman to the snow ball yesterday. He just felt compelled to ask her. But she declined anyway. Somehow that hurt his ego just a little bit, but there was no way he'd tell Skylar about this.

[Lux]

"With me, babe, life is never relaxing. It is fast paced and fun and a party every day. We can relax after I kick your ass. I mean, that is if you won't die from shame." Skylar laughed when he splashed her and jumped in after him. She swam over to him, appearing right above the water mere inches away from his body, and she used her leg to kick him away playfully. "Oh, I'm right here." She laughed, going under once again and swimming to the other end of the pool.

"So come on, Brit!" She called. Occasionally she would call him this to irritate him slightly. He worked a lot harder at what he did when he was a bit irritated at her, like he wanted to get her back somehow. It amused her because he actual gave her a challenge when he was like that. "I don't have all day!"

[Admin Sydnee]

"And that's why I like you. Party everyday except for when you need your sleep and people attempt to wake you up. Then you just want to sleep and you act like a bitch," Tanner pointed out with a grin just before she jumped into the water and kicked him away. Now she'd swam to the opposite end of the pool and was doing what she did best, attempting to irritate him. She did this by calling him 'Brit.' Just because he was from Brighton.

"You're just jealous of my accent," he shot back before diving under and resurfacing beside her. "God, you're fiery after you wake up." Maybe he should have let her sleep. "You crazy Americans." He smirked as he readied himself, his hand gripping the edge of the pool.

[Lux]

"Jealous of a guy who can say crumpets and tea in a fancy way? No, I think I enjoy having a perfectly obnoxious American accent. At least I don't sound like a priss." She wiggled her eyebrows and winked at Tanner before going under without warning and pushing off the edge of the pool and speeding to the other end.

If she could laugh, she would. But underwater, it was obviously impossible. She just grinned as she came up for a breath and continued swimming in a freestyle stroke, not stopping to see if Tanner had even come off of the other side. When she reached the end, she came up gasping and laughing, waiting for Tanner to reach her.

[Admin Sydnee]

Tanner sent her a playful death glare. "I'll try not to be offended, Sky." He knew that she was just trying to get to him. She liked to irritate him, something about making him more competitive. "And I do not sound like a priss. I sound sophisticated, unlike you Americans with your slang." He was about to say something to her wink when she dove under water and started swimming towards the other side.

"Cheater!" He shouted, pushing off of the wall and going under water, resurfacing and swimming furiously after her. By the time he reached the other side, it was only a matter of several seconds after her, but it was still a loss. She was laughing when he finally touched the wall and he sat there for a moment, watching her giggle at what she had done before suddenly jumping at her and pushing down on her shoulders.

"Can't play fair, Sky?" He dunked her head under water and then swung his arms around her shoulders. "Just for that, you owe me."

[Lux]

"Loser!" She grinned when he reached the end of the pool mere seconds after she had touched it. Honestly, she didn't understand why Tanner didn't stop time to win, but luckily he didn't. Cause then she would be screaming at him for cheating, just like he was with her. "Cheater? I am not! You should have just been more prepared!" Skylar beamed triumphantly. A win was a win in her eyes, no matter how she had gotten it.

He had his hands on her shoulders, and she looked at him wide eyed. "Wai-" She didn't have time to finish before she was dunked under the water. It ended just as quickly as it started and Skylar hit Tanner in his chest, pretending to be mad even though she was still laughing. "What do you mean I owe you? I am getting you back for waking me up. " She cried out. "And what do I possibly have that you want?" She wiped away the water running down her face and pushed back her hair.

[Admin Sydnee]

"At least I didn't cheat," Tanner shot back. "Do you know how easy it would have been for me to freeze time just long enough for me to get ahead? So easy and I didn't do it. Because I'm an honest gentlemen who would never do that, especially to a girl." He laughed. He could be by far the best on the team if he used his power, but he didn't want to be the best through cheating. Then he really wasn't the best.

He was an honest guy, as far as he knew anyway, but he wasn't aware of his other side...the side that was cunning and obedient, just like his father. He continued to chuckle as she hit his chest, unfazed by her hits. "My father wants to meet you. We've been friends for a while and you've never even been over." He grinned. "He isn't too bad of a cook, I promise. Also, I could use a date to the dance."

[Lux]

"Like I said before, I did not cheat. I just didn't give you a warning as to when we would start!" Skylar took a deep breath and crossed her arms across her chest, but instantly let it out and sunk under the water. She came back up, keeping herself treading steadily. "And no gentleman would ever stop time, barge into a woman's room, crawl onto their bed and then shake them awake. No, that is more like some crazy psychopathic rapist." She pointed out.

Then he announced his father wanted to meet her and she blinked in surprise. "What do you mean he wants to meet me? How does he even know about me?" She cocked her head to the side "Awe, does somebody talk about me to daddy when they get home?" Skylar grinned, pinching his cheeks. To be honest, tanner never talked about his father much, except for mentioning one time that he was a teacher at Spiritus. And then came another surprise came. He asked her to the dance. "You need a date? Sure, I guess we can go. It'll be fun." She had no problems with going with him. He was attractive and she heard several of the girls around campus talking of him. Score one for Skylar.

[Admin Sydnee]

"You're just finding any loophole you can, aren't you?" Tanner asked, shaking his head at her. "And you're quite incorrect. A psychopathic rapist would have taken advantage of that moment and ravaged your beautiful body. I am a gentlemen who occasionally likes to have some fun with his power. What's wrong with that?" He smiled innocently.

"Anyway, he just...I don't know. He's going through this whole 'Let's meet my son's friends' phase." He slapped her hands away when she started pinching his cheeks. "Cut it out, Sky. Jeez." He touched his sore cheeks and glared at her quickly. "Anyway, maybe he'll get off my back about dying my hair if he knows I hang out with good people. I mean, sort of good anyway. You have an evil spark."

He was pleased she said yes to go to the ball. "Were you shocked that I didn't have a date?" he asked her curiously. He wasn't about to tell her about the incident with the freshman. He really even didn't understand it himself. "It will be fun. Looking forward to it."
