It was the start of winter break and it couldn't be more glorious for Keyla. While she enjoyed her classes for the most part, she could concentrate on other things, like her undying curiosity to know about the troublesome trio that she'd seen at the dance. She'd take it upon herself to find Uriel at some point as well, but she figured she'd have the most luck with the female of the group, a tall raven-haired girl that had been wearing a wicked red dress on the verge of slutty. She was always with the other blonde, Gavin, as she'd heard and since Keyla was a girl herself, she figured it'd be easier to talk to her. At least she hoped. She knew that her name was Aura and that she was on the Veritas swim team, but not much else.
Her curiosity was getting the better of her, and while it may be somewhat dangerous, she couldn't just ignore it! Even though Byron told her she needed to try and not get herself killed.
She was walking around Cranbrook, enjoying the snow, with her obnoxiously bright lime green peacoat on and her matching gloves. Winter wasn't really her season, because there wasn't gardening to be done and she felt as if her power wasn't needed in this season. She loved it during any other season though. Still, it was fun to make a flower bloom in the snow just for the fun of it.
She was nearing a shop, figuring she'd go inside to distract herself, when she saw a familiar girl walking in the opposite direction of her. No way! Screw shopping! Nancy Drew was back in business.
"Are you Aura?" she asked, approaching her.

With no home to go back to, Aura naturally stayed at school over the holidays. The days began to run into each other, and boredom set in quickly. She decided to venture into town to see what sort of trouble she could get herself into. The town was busier than usual, with people bustling about on their lunch hours, getting their shopping done. Aura was relieved not to have a family or anything; now she didn't have to stress around the holidays. They were purely a time for her to not have school and to do whatever the heck she wanted. And with Uriel having a high-paying job and having brought Aura and Gavin along, she didn't even have to try to find a stupid season job in the Cranbrook Mall. In fact, Aura was avoiding the mall at all costs. She wasn't even sure if Christmas day had come and gone yet, but she bet it would be busy no matter what, what with Boxing Day and the deals that seemed to spread into the entire week leading up to the New Year.
So instead she just wandered the paths, peering into shop windows. She was contemplating stealing something, just for the heck of it, when someone spoke her name. Aura stopped walking and looked ahead at the light-haired, pale girl speaking to her. "Um, yeah," she said, taken by surprise. She had not expected to run into anyone in town, much less someone who knew her name. She had no idea where Gavin was, and apart from him, Uriel and her teammates were the only other people she knew. She gave the girl a weird look, then continued to walk, though she suspected that was not the only thing the girl had to say.

Aura had only replied to say that she was indeed who Keyla thought she was. Although Keyla had merely just asked her that to strike up conversation, not because she was unsure. But just as she thought, Aura didn't stop to chat and merely kept walking on past her as if Keyla meant nothing. Well, that should bother her, but in a way, she was used to people brushing her off as if she was a child. So what if she was in grade nine? She prided herself on how smart she was.
She walked after Aura, picking up her pace until she was beside her again, her red waves bouncing behind her. "I wasn't finished," she said a bit stubbornly. "I saw you at the ball. With that obnoxious Russian guy and Gavin Maddox." Although she was fascinated by Uriel, she thought that obnoxious was more fitting than his actual name, even if it was an adjective.

From the sound of quickening footsteps on the plowed sidewalk, Aura knew the girl had caught up to her. She sighed and stuck her hands in the pockets of her coat -- a dark red trench coat style winter jacket -- and looked sideways at the girl. "Yeah. We're friends," she said, wondering what this girl's point was. She couldn't help but smirk at how the girl had called Uriel obnoxious. He certainly was. "Well, Gavin and I are friends. Uriel's just..." She looked at the path ahead, trying to find the right word. "Uriel," she decided. She looked back at the girl. "Is there a point to this?" She narrowed her eyes. If this girl thought she was going to ask Aura to talk to Gavin or some shit, she had another thing coming.

"I thought so," Keyla said with a nod. She knew how they were called the terrible trio or something like that. "Let me guess, you three spiked the punch." It wasn't hard to figure out. She still remembered how it had affected Byron. But them spiking the punch wasn't the point anyway, they seemed to be more than just somewhat innocent troublemakers. They seemed lethal, in a way and Keyla figured if you had a power like that, what would stop you from becoming evil? She didn't know exactly what their powers were, but she would find out. What if they hurt students? She was suspicious.
She narrowed her eyes in return at Aura and crossed her arms across her green peacoat. "There has to be a point, huh?" she responded sassily. "So if someone just strikes up conversation with you just to be friendly, you want no part of it?" Talk about rude...but then again, she wasn't just striking up conversation. "What's his deal? Uriel, I mean...everyone acts like he's royalty. And you don't seem to fond of him..." she observed.

Aura blinked. What the...? "Really? You're asking me if we spiked the punch?" she asked, shaking her head. "What, are you the school's spy and they want to know who did it? That's just pathetic. It was a little alcohol. Big deal," she said sarcastically, rolling her eyes and doing her best to try to walk faster than the girl. Who was she, anyway?
She decided to ask. "Who are you, anyway? You come up to me and ask me all these questions about the people I hang out with and I don't even know who you are. So yeah, there has to be a point." She stopped walking and turned to face the orange-haired girl. "And for the record, Uriel isn't royalty. He just thinks he is. Gavin and I certainly don't act like he is. He's just Uriel."

"Whether or not you spiked the punch isn't my point. And I wasn't asking you whether or not you did it, I was stating a fact, that you did do it. But I don't care about that. That's just typical high school shenanigans. Even at a high school without students that have powers." Why was she getting so worked up over it anyway? It wasn't as if Keyla cared. She only narrowed her eyes at the comment about her being a spy for the school. "Yeah, like I'd work for the school. I'm self-employed. And I'm not a spy." Spy wasn't the right word.
A small smile played about her lips when Aura asked who she was. That's how it usually went. Nobody really knew who she was. She was the petite red head who looked sweet and that was it, but she wouldn't have that. There was a lot more to Keyla than that. "Keyla Cross. Spiritus student." She held out her hand for Aura to shake, wondering if the girl would even take it, she didn't mind if she didn't. It was just a friendly gesture. "And everyone sure acts as if he's royalty. I hear students talking about him. Apparently he's dangerous."

Aura stared at the girl as she spoke so very much. Who did she think she was, coming up to Aura on the streets and accusing her of things? Yes all right, Aura was the one who had spiked the punch, but no one had been looking! That was what Gavin and Uriel's distraction was for. Yet it seemed Keyla had not been distracted by the two. Aura narrowed her eyes at the girl. "Self-employed? Is that some sort of joke?" she snorted, placing her hands on her hips.
"Dangerous," she repeated. Not a question, not an agreement. Just a statement. People thought Uriel was dangerous? Well, sure, he definitely was. "I think of him more as dangerously unstable. His mind works in strange ways," she mused. "It's like he's drunk on his imagination or something."

"Not so much a joke, as it is the truth. I don't work for anybody. I'm not spying on you. I'm just curious about this supposed 'terrible trio' you're apart of. That's all. But I'm curious about a lot of things." Keyla shrugged, slightly amused yet annoyed at Aura's attitude.
She nodded at her explanation of Uriel's mind, her lips curling into a smile. "Unstable, huh?" Yeah, she could definitely see that. "Well, he did knock out a ton of people at the snow ball for really no apparent reason. Why does Veritas allow him to act in such a way without some sort of consequences?" She truly was curious about that. What made him exempt?

Aura stared at the girl as she blabbered on about being curious about a lot of things. Her brow arched as she watched Keyla, unsure whether or not she believed her. She didn't want to, but she felt like the girl was speaking the truth. She didn't give away anything that would make Aura believe she was lying. But still, she was wary. "Who calls us the 'terrible trio'?" she asked, thrown off by the dub.
"Honestly, I have no idea how he gets away with half of the shit he does. He's got the girls wrapped around his finger," she said with a snarl of her lip. Everyone but her. She was wrapped around someone else's finger. And gladly so. "I wouldn't be surprised if he's paying the school off somehow. I mean, he is really rich. He's loaded!"

"People. I just hear the term thrown around," Keyla told Aura, shrugging her shoulders as if it wasn't a big deal. "And he's not fooling me. It's ridiculous that girls fall for that. He's obviously dark and twisted in ways that some can't even fathom." She could already tell that just by having a very short conversation with him, although the things Aura was divulging were proving her theory correct.
She raised an eyebrow. "You think he's paying off the school? Interesting." He was the kind of guy who needed to be busted. Aura still seemed wary of speaking to her, but she had opened up more than she first had when Keyla started talking to her. That was progress.

"Which people?" she wondered. Aura thought it was weird that this girl had heard 'people' calling her, Gavin, and Uriel the Terrible Trio. She wasn't even aware other people were aware of their friendship. She made a mental note to tell Gavin later. What did this mean? Were they becoming evil celebrities or something around the school? The thought pleased her, but she couldn't help but feel Gavin needed to know and to decide if it was a good thing or not.
"Well I don't know if he actually is, but if you think about it, it makes sense," she pointed out. "I mean, he's got all this money. If I were that rich, I'd certainly pay off the school to leave me alone. Except they already leave me alone, so there's no need," she added.
