Family History»
From a young age, The Breslin family knew that their daughter was different. She seemed to know when something was upsetting her parents, or if they were hiding something from her. At age 3, when she could finally speak, Adaryn was coming up to her parents, even before they showed any sign of being upset and asking what was wrong.
They really just assumed that Adaryn was just very inquisitive, not really believing that there was anything wrong with her. They thought it was something inherited, because Anabelle's mother was the same.
Then, when Adaryn was six, her grandfather died and many people came to the house to comfort the family, and they had yet to tell the young girl of the news. But as soon as the crowd came into the home, from her room, she began sobbing uncontrollably. She would scream and cry until her father took her outside. Minutes later, she was fine once again, but refused to go back inside the house. She would mutter "Sad people", and that is when Cedric and Anabelle began to worry.
They took her to doctors, and they put her on bipolar medication which nearly killed her. So for years they tried to find something to cure whatever 'problem' she had, but couldn't. When Adaryn was eleven, someone had told them about a school in Canada that specializes in teaching students what they need to learn with special 'abilities'. At first they were confused, and he explained to them exactly what it was.
In the beginning, the Breslin's thought it was crazy. Their daughter having the power of Empathy? Ridiculous! But as they started researching it, they noticed she had all the signs. Their last resort was moving to Canada to get her the education she needed to control it. But it was still too late in the school year to transfer schools. School was over in a month, so they were going to wait until the summer to move up and enroll her.
What Annabelle and Cedric hadn't realized was how much damage could be done in a mere month. They still regret their decision of not transferring Adaryn to this very day.
Adaryn was with her sister, who never believed that she was empathetic, but she believed that instead, Adaryn was merely bipolar. Lydia was very depressed one night, and Adaryn tried proving that she could manipulate her emotions to make her happy, but Lydia began to laugh and ridicule her. That is when Adaryn had gotten upset.
She had decided to make her sister feel even worse than she had as a means of revenge. What Adaryn didn't realize was that her sister was already suicidal, and that this had brought her over the edge. Lydia stormed out of the room leaving Adaryn there unattended. She shrugged and sat there alone for the remainder of the night.
When Annabelle and Cedric returned home, Adaryn was going to greet them, but she heard a scream. It was her mother's. Rushing towards the location of the scream, she stopped dead in her tracks. There her sister lie, dead in a pool of her own blood. There was a note by her sister saying how life was no longer worth living, so she ended it. In the beginning, her parents never suspected her. But she couldn't live with the guilt any longer.
Adaryn came clean to her parents, telling then everything that she had done that night. It devastated them, and they actually distanced themselves from her. Speaking to her only when needed and even then, their voice shook.
By the time they were ready to move, Adaryn felt completely abandoned. But she knew she deserved this. She killed her sister, and there was nothing that could ever bring her back. Two months before the new school year started, they came to Canada Adaryn and shipped her off to Veritas as soon as they could.

Personality» Adaryn is a very quiet individual, her voice even being no louder than a whisper usually. She doesn't like being around many people, and she will actively search out a quiet place to be. Less people equals less emotions to deal with.
But she is a very kind person, never saying no to helping someone if they need the help. Though when they ask, she will merely give a smile and then an answer, and stay quiet majority of the way. She never initiates conversation, but if someone approaches her, she will be polite and speak back with as much enthusiasm she can muster. She is incredibly bashful and very shy around guys her age.
All in all, Adaryn is an Introvert.

Academics» Adaryn has trouble focusing on schoolwork when in the classroom because all of the student's emotions are affect her. Since she doesn't know how to control it yet, she has been getting C's and the rare B if she really tries.
Powers» Empathy/ Empathetic Manipulation
Basically it is the ability to pick up on another individual's emotions, and have the power to manipulate emotions as well.
Discovery» Adaryn, from a young age, had always knew what others were feeling in the house. She would confront them, and then she realized that she could also drastically affect the mood of the person as well. If she was mad at someone and wanted to make them cry or make them depressed, all she had to really do was stare at them for a moment and then suddenly, their mood had changed.
She overheard her family speaking about those experiences, and they said that they would feel light headed and then forget what they were doing, and then get an overwhelming sense of whatever emotion Adaryn wished upon them.
