Eloise contently sat on her bed swaying back and forth to the music which played on her laptop as she completed a few writing assignments. she was nice and comfy, wearing grey sweatpants, and a purple tanktop, and her hair was up in a messy bun - a couple of curls falling into her face. It wasn't often she wore tanktops, because she didn't like people questioning the strange birthmark on her right shoulder. It was shaped like a sun and seemed darker during the day - at least from what Eloise could tell trying to look at it in the mirror. But El was just trying to relax in general, and Adaryn never questioned much anyway. The mood in her dorm had become considerably lighter since she and Adaryn had become friends, or at least close to friends in Eloise's mind. They understood each other well and could help each other out when they were having trouble with their powers. When Ella was stressed, Adaryn would calm her down. And if Adaryn ever became too overloaded with emotions, Ella would allow her to feed off of hers (assuming they were fairly happy at the time). The two girls had found a nice balance. She sang along to the music which was helping block out some of the thoughts penetrating the dorm walls. There were a lot of girls in the general vicinity of the room, and it definitely effected both Ella and Adaryn. The music helped them both. Ella looked over to Adaryn, "You're particularly quiet today," she noted. Adaryn was always quiet, but they had at least been talking since Adaryn had changed Ella's emotions for the first time.

He was coming back, and he was in a particularly nasty mood as of late. Cain had started invading her dreams the night she had met with Monroe, and that had been at least a week ago. Luckily Eloise had never been up when Adaryn had woken up, because she would have seen and questioned Adaryn about what was going on. If she had it her way, Monroe wouldn't even know about Cain. She didn't want to burden anyone with her problems, no matter how severe and life threatening they were.
Today Eloise was finishing some homework assignments, music playing on her laptop, while Adaryn sat on her bed with her knees pulled up to her chest. She was exhausted, and the bags under her eyes showed that. She glanced over at Ella, who was still typing away, and smiled slightly. Over the past few weeks, they had grown a bit closer than Adaryn had expected. She even considered them friends now, considering they were coexisting peacefully. They seemed to have this symbiotic relationship now. If Ella had ever gotten too stressed, Adaryn would offer to calm her down. And when Adaryn was a bit on edge, Eloise offered to let her 'feed' off of her own. It was nice having someone like that.
Eloise suddenly commented on her quietness, and she looked down at her knees. "I'm just a bit tired. I haven't been getting much sleep is all." She tried to reassure her. It's exhausting, She thought and buried her head in her knees.

Monroe was walking back from Tim Horton's, a cup of piping hot coffee in his hands. He needed it, especially lately. Sleep was not easy to come by and it seemed that more and more people liked to fall asleep in the library, so it wasn't an easy place for him to catch a nap anymore. He'd told himself that he'd check up on Adaryn if she didn't come to him after a few days. He got the feeling that even if she was seeing Cain again, that she wasn't going to tell him. She seemed much to selfless for that. Besides, he needed to talk to Ella again anyway and since the two of them were roommates, it only made sense.
The path was dark from Cranbrook back to Veritas, and he couldn't help but get the feeling that somebody was lurking behind him in the shadows, following him back, but he knew he was probably just ultra paranoid. But with each step, hearing the sound of his combat boots hitting the ground, he still felt as if he wasn't the only one out here. It was a windy night and he pulled his hoodie tighter around him as he continued his trek forward. He only stopped when he heard a voice, like a whisper, but dark and low.
"You are the first dreamwalker I've encountered in a while. Pesky people they are, always getting in the way. They don't last very long, not when I am around."
He turned around, eyes darting in all directions as if looking for something, but he found nothing and instead, picked up his pace, his boots clambering on the cobblestone path. He'd almost convinced himself he'd imagined it by the time he got back to Veritas and was greeted by the warm air of the dorms. He knocked on the door to the dorm room of Adaryn and Eloise and waited, still stealing glances behind him.

Eloise made a wry face. Sometimes Adaryn forgot that there was pretty much no way that Eloise could block out her thoughts. They were too close together and there were too many other voices around for her to use the energy to block everything. Something was wrong, but Ella couldn't put her finger on it. And usually she wouldn't pry, but Adaryn was definitely having issues with something. And Ella wanted to actually become good friends with Adaryn. They had similar powers, and Ella realized she tended to like people who had a power similar to hers. Like Monroe.
So Ella opened her mouth to ask Adaryn what was exhausting, but before she could ask, there was a rushed knock at the door. Knowing how tired her roommate was, Ella hopped off her bed and said "I got it." She slid in her socks over toward the door, and looked through the peephole. "BOY" she warned opening the door to Monroe, "Hey," she said with a fairly cheery smile, hoping that her random bouts of cheerfulness would rub off on Adaryn in some way. She couldn't help but be slightly happy listening to Billy Joel. "What's up?" she asked, stepping away from the door to allow Monroe into their room.

Adaryn looked up when there was a knock at the door, and she was going to stand up and get it just so Ella could keep working, but she was already at the door. "Boy." Ella warned her, and she raised a brow curiously. What was so important that a boy needed to be here to speak with Ella. Adaryn knew nobody was coming for her, especially no boy, because the only boy who was friendly to her was Monroe, and he probably had better things to do than speak to her right now.
"Hey." Ella chimed, staring straight ahead of her. From where she was sitting, she could see that it was a boy with pitch black hair. Sitting up, she could see even further past her shoulder, and she instantly recognized the face. It was Monroe. Adaryn tried to sit up quickly, and even put on a semi-happy and non- tired face, but she just couldn't manage it. Even the vibe from Eloise wasn't helping her much.
"Hi..." She gave the boy a quick nod and averted her gaze to a book that lay open on her bed. She couldn't let him see the bags under her eyes.

Monroe rushed in, not even realizing how quickly he was moving when Eloise opened the door after shouting some warning about it being a boy. "Hey," he greeted in return to her, his tone even sounding a bit rushed. "It's been a while. Unfortunately, my refuge in the library has been thwarted by other students." He shrugged and cracked a bit of a smile before his eyes searched the room, landing on Adaryn who offered a hello in a small voice before looking away.
He turned back to Eloise. "I'm actually here because of her," he said, gesturing towards Adaryn. "That and I need to talk to the both of you together." He pointed a finger accusingly at Adaryn. "You," he began. "Haven't come to me like you said you would." His tone was serious, but the small smile on his lips betrayed him.
He had a lot to talk about, especially the voice he'd heard which was still freaking him out. He stifled a yawn. "I call a meeting to order," he said, grabbing a chair from a nearby desk and sitting down on it backwards. "There is business to attend to."
So, he must have looked absolutely exhausted and he was a little on edge from what had happened on his way back to campus, but he just took a drink of his coffee and looked to the two girls.

Monroe seemed a bit on edge, and a bit too hyped up for Adaryn's liking. She just stared down at the book, which happened to be her math book, with an empty expression. She was trying to keep her mind clear because she knew that whatever she thought, Ella would be able to here. That is when he started speaking to her.
"You," He started, and Adaryn looked up shyly. "Haven't come to me like you said you would." He sounded serious, but he was smiling slightly. Was he mad? No, because she could feel nothing but exhaustion radiating off of him. If he was mad, he was too tired to feel it. "Sorry," She apologized, and once again stared back at her math book. There was no way she would let him see the bags. He would know, She thought fearfully. I can't let him know. What made the fear even worse for Adaryn was that he was staying. Apparently, there was a meeting in order.
A meeting Adaryn did not want to attend.

"Well gee..." Eloise said as Monroe rushed in saying that he was there to see Adaryn. "Nice to see you too," she joked in mock offense to Monroe sort of pushing her aside. She shrugged and crawled up to sit cross legged on her desk as Monroe said he was calling a meeting though. He was accusing Adaryn of something. And Adaryn was trying desperately to hide it. What exactly, Ella couldn't exactly tell due to the sheer amount of thought going on in the dorms.
Eloise squinted questioningly at her two exhausted friends. "Alright..." she said. "What exactly am I missing here?" she asked. It wasn't often that she had to ask such a question. Usually she could hit the nail on the head every time. "Adaryn what's going on? You're hiding something?" And then Eloise turned to face Monroe "And what the fuck happened to you because you're thoughts are as jittery as your body right now" She sassily put a hand on her hip and stared at her two friends, waiting for an explanation, and wondering why it came to this encounter to know that something was up.

"I'm here for both of you, El," Monroe said, waving a hand at her as if to excuse her being silly about the whole matter. "Actually, I am here because we are all intertwined. It seems as if our fates have all tied together. Riveting, right?" He stifled a yawn again, watching as Eloise tried to figure out what was going on.
Adaryn wasn't offering much to the conversation and avoiding eye contact and that only made it more obvious that she was trying to hide something. Ella was questioning the both of them, for once not knowing what was going on and Monroe was just looking over at Adaryn as if the longer he stared at her, the more she'd be tempted to look up and meet his gaze.
He spoke without looking at Eloise. "Okay, one, I've had coffee. What do you expect? Two, I'm sleep deprived as all hell! And three, I just had some creepy ass voice speak to me on my walk back to campus. So I'm a little confused right now."
He sighed, his eyes still on Adaryn. "You've been seeing him again, haven't you?" He took a deep breath. "You need to tell Eloise what's going on so we can help you, Adaryn. You have friends, why won't you accept the fact that we want to be there for you?"
OOC: So, I realize how this last line he says could sound like it means a million different things, and I find it hilarious that he's actually talking about Cain visiting her dreams.

His gaze was burning into her back, she could feel it. Why couldn't he figure out that she didn't want him hurt any longer? If he got involved in her life, that he would get hurt, just like he had been that first time? She much rather die, than have other people hurt in the process of saving her.
It was as if the world was not on her side today, considering Monroe refused to look away and Eloise was questioning her for answers. Adaryn continued to try and avoid all the questions but reading and thinking of every single equation in the book so Eloise couldn't hear what was really going on in her head. She didn't know how her whole telepathy power worked out, but she figured that if she thought of those equations while thinking of something else at the same time, Eloise would only be able to pick up on one thing.
"You've been seeing him again, haven't you?" Monroe's voice echoed in her mind. Her whole body stiffened as she reached to turn the page of the book. Need to study for my math test... "You have friends, why won't you accept the fact that we want to be there for you?"
At that, she spun her head around to look at Monroe, wide-eyed. When she locked gazes, she quickly tore her eyes away, and looked back at the textbook. "I'm fine, Monroe." She said.

Eloise raised an eyebrow at the short and vague explanation that Monroe shot out, still trying to get Adaryn to admit to something, clearly. "Seeing him again?" she whispered to herself. Adaryn was seeing someone? No. Eloise would have picked up on that long ago right? And... why did Monroe care so much anyway if Adaryn WAS seeing someone. Nothing quite added up - though Monroe liking Adaryn wasn't out of the question. But Eloise was fairly sure that wasn't what Monroe was talking about. She would probably be able to figure it out if Adaryn stopped throwing out random thoughts to distract her. "That's totally not cool Adaryn," Eloise said to her, wrinkling her nose at the equations being thrown her way. God she hated math.
"Monroe, I think you might just be too exhausted for your own good," El informed him. Hearing voices now? Somebody really needed to start taking naps. "And I've told you so many times that you need to kick the caffeine habit! It makes you crash and burn" she rolled her eyes. They had kind of started yelling at each other for bad habits recently. It was weird but neither of them ever questioned it.
"She's thinking about math," Eloise informed Monroe finally. She stood up and walked toward Adaryn. "What Monroe is talking about sounds like boy trouble, but I don't think that's what's up... I would have figured that out. I'm guessing its whatever is keeping you from sleeping at night," Eloise said. "But you know if its boy trouble, that's cool too, I'll help either way." She informed, still not understanding the seriousness of the whole situation.

Monroe sighed as Adaryn looked away from him again after only locking eyes with him for a moment. She'd mumbled something about being okay, but Monroe wasn't going to believe that. She wouldn't be avoiding him so much if things were okay. He kept his gaze on her for a moment before giving up and turning to look at Eloise who was confused as ever. It was new for her.
"I'm not crazy, if that's what you're implying," he pointed out to Eloise. "I am sleep deprived, but I know I heard a voice talking to me. Somebody was following me. And I think it has to do with the nightmares Adaryn's been having." He rubbed his temples, trying to ease away the headache before taking another sip of coffee and giving Eloise a look that said he'd drink it anyway.
Now she was walking over to Adaryn and trying to get something out of her. "She's not going to accept our help, El. She's stubborn and would rather suffer than drag anybody else down with her," he explained before finally letting out a yawn. "I fell into her nightmare a while ago. In the library... something is after her. But it doesn't...this figure doesn't feel like he's a part of a dream, he seems real. He cut me with his dagger." He pointed to his face where the scar was on his cheek. "She might not talk about it, but I will. Because this seems dangerous."

""I'm not crazy, if that's what you're implying," It is the first thing he said that she smiled at, and just to hopefully make Ella smile, she closed her eyes and stopped reciting the math problems in her head. Yes he is. He just doesn't like admitting it. Adaryn gave an audible giggle, and she could feel the tension slipping away, albeit slowly, but it was still fading.
With her eyes closed, Adaryn hadn't noticed that Eloise was beside her now, asking her whether she had boy trouble, and suddenly the tension was back. She stared wide-eyed at her roommate and shook her head. "N-No... I just..." She shut her mouth then, and stared back down at her knees, staring and reciting another math problem to hide her real thoughts.10x+4y=38. Maybe she should let Eloise think that she was having boy trouble instead of Cain trouble. It would make life so much easier for her. But she couldn't trust that Monroe wouldn't tell her, because she already told him that he could.
"She's not going to accept our help, El. She's stubborn and would rather suffer than drag anybody else down with her." No, don't tell her! "I fell into her nightmare a while ago. In the library... something is after her. But it doesn't...this figure doesn't feel like he's a part of a dream, he seems real. He cut me with his dagger." And he told her...
Adaryn didn't have time to get upset, because as soon as he said it, she was up and heading towards the door. Honestly, if Adaryn didn't want to talk about it, she shouldn't have to. That didn't mean she was being stubborn, it meant that she was trying to protect the people around her. She slammed the door shut behind her and walked, though not very far. She just needed to clear her head, and actually, she found herself a few feet away from her room. Adaryn had just rounded the corner and sat there, rubbing her temples, trying to clear her mind of any emotions she was feeling at the moment. "Damn you, Monroe" She grumbled.

Eloise couldn't help but laugh at Adaryn and comment back "Yeah trust me, I know," with a slightl smile before Monroe could spill the beans. Though the whole time he was explaining what had happened, Adaryn was freaking out inside. Eloise just focused on Monroe though. He was right, it did sound extremely dangerous. Her father had told her something about dreamwalking before, and she wished she had listened closer. It was something about what in a dream could hurt a dreamwalker. If anything. Ella really couldn't remember.
Ella opened her mouth to respond to Monroe, but was inturrupted by Adaryn getting up and storming out of the room. "Well now you've done it," Ella blamed Monroe, giving him a look and putting her hands on her hips. She was still half joking but him telling her was not good on Adaryn's emotions, which explained her sudden departure. "You do realize you could have just thought all of that... right?" she asked like it was the most obvious option. He really needed to start sleeping more.
Ella could still hear Adaryn in her mind. She wasn't far. And she wasn't running anymore. She was just trying to calm herself down. But Ella wasn't sure if or when she would return, and if or when she or Monroe should go out to talk to her. "Is there anything else about this you need to tell me before I got try to make her come back in here?"

Monroe smiled sheepishly at Eloise. Of course now he realized that he could have just thought all of it towards her and he felt ridiculously dumb. Then again, Adaryn was suffering and he wasn't going to let her do so, especially in silence. He thought about whether or not there was anything else he should tell Ella and shrugged. "She needs to realize that she didn't drag me into this. My power did and now that I am involved, I'm not just going to forget it happened." It wasn't her fault in any way. She wasn't putting Monroe in danger. He was putting himself in danger. That wasn't anything she could stop. Besides, something deeper was going on here, something dangerous.
Now he sighed, staring at the door. "She doesn't want to talk about it, she doesn't want anybody to worry. I haven't known her that long and I already know that's how she is."
