Monroe frowned a little when Adaryn shrugged them both off and stood up. He stared up at her. He didn't pity her...it wasn't just that he... Ugh. His thoughts couldn't even complete themselves in this state. So he just sat quietly and waited for her to calm herself. Keeping his emotions in check was even harder when he was lacking sleep.
Once she seemed alright, she began speaking again and he tried to think of an answer to her question. Adaryn was looking over at him for answers and in turn so was Eloise, following her gaze. He was supposed to suggest something, to think of something, but his brain was a jumbled mess and he couldn't pick his thoughts apart. How was he supposed to come up with a coherent idea? They were looking to the sleep deprived guy for answers? Oh that's right, he called the meeting. He groaned and faced them both, grinning sheepishly.
"Uh," he began, rubbing his temples. "How about we discuss this over coffee?" It was a lame attempt at a joke and he knew that Eloise wasn't about to let him have any more caffeine. But he felt like he needed to do something. "We need to learn more about him. I mean, how do you defeat somebody you know nothing about? I need you to let me go into your dreams again, Adaryn. Maybe I can figure out more and if I....if I keep my distance, I'll be fine." It was all he had. "I really did hear a voice earlier, when I was walking back from Tim Horton's. I felt like I was being watched. Whoever it was knew I was a dreamwalker...." He wasn't saying it was Cain, but... "Look, I don't know, but I feel like this guy isn't only bothering Adaryn. He has to be torturing others." But what was he supposed to do? Go into everyone's dreams on campus? That sounded tiresome. He was so tired...

Ella glared at Monroe after the coffee comment. she had warned him that he shouldn't have any more. The look lightened after she realized he was joking. She shook her head and fell forward on the bed to lay on her stomach. "Well if this guy is bothering other people I'll be able to notice. I'll try to take note if and when I hear anything." she said trying to think of what else they could do, especially knowing that Adaryn wouldn't be too fond of Monroe wanting to go back into her dreams.
"But yeah... monroe is probably right," Eloise said to Adaryn as if she would need convincing. "We need to know more about this guy and if he really is as dangerous as we're thinking..." Because what if this really was just a random nightmare? What if there wasn't anything they could do?

"So...uhm... How do you suggest he enter my dream again?" Adaryn asked. Though she knew the answer, she hoped she would get a different answer. Monroe would have to enter her dream from here, because god knows whose dream he would enter if he went back into his room. He already seemed tired too, so it would be a great time to actually do this....
She looked around the room a realized there was another bed in the room. Veritas always had three to a room, and she noticed they were always paired by similar powers. Since they hadn't gotten another roommate, there was probably no other person with a power like theirs. "Monroe is going to have to sleep here tonight, isn't he...?" She glanced over at the slumped figure of tired Monroe and a blush crept up on her face. She was going to be falling asleep with a guy in her dorm room. Oh god.

"You guys should be glad I'm even this rational right now," Monroe said, stifling a yawn. He knew that they had to learn more about this Cain before they took any desperate measures, even if Monroe wasn't sure what these measures were. "El, that'd be great if you could be on the look out for thoughts about this guy." If he was bothering anybody else, they would soon know. "I was also hoping to get some help from you, you know about the blocking stuff. I think Adaryn and I could benefit from it."
He turned to look at Adaryn who was looking at the empty bed across the room and asking if he was going to sleep here tonight, and then she looked uneasy about the whole thing. "I don't want to intrude or anything...I'm just trying to think of how to go about this. If this Cain...if he is a real person invading someone's dreams, does that make him a dreamwalker? Does he have a power like us?" Something just didn't add up. Monroe couldn't do what he did. His head hurt and it was spinning with everything.
"I don't have to sleep here," he said. "I could just go to the library. You guys could camp out with me. I mean, I know it's risky. A boy in the girls' dorm."

"Yeah we might not want to get in trouble for that," Eloise pointed out, though she had no qualms about monroe staying in their room. She honestly didn't care. But she also didn't want to deal with the repercussions of having a boy in their dorm. Or the implications that would arise. She was sure she would be hearing all the thoughts going around about how either her or Adaryn (or both)had slept with Monroe.
"And it's not as if sleeping in the library is anything new," Eloise added with a roll of her eyes. She was well aware that it happened to Monroe more often than him sleeping in his own room. And it was where this incident had happened the first time anyway. So it made sense.

Relief flooded over her, and she let out an audible sigh. Falling asleep in the library would be a lot more comfortable for her since it was a lot more public. She never thought that she would actually be grateful to be in a public, and possibly crowded place, even if it was the library. "So we go to the library and bury our face in a book?" Adaryn smiled. She loved being in the presence of books, so she would go to the library every once and a while and check out a book. Sometimes she would stay to read, but most times she left because of the amount of people in the building at the time.
"The only flaw in this plan is that I am not as tired as Monroe. If he puts his face on any surface and closes his eyes, he will be out in a second. I don't know--" She looked at Monroe again "--how your power works, but if someone else is dreaming before I fall asleep, wont you fall into their dream? You can't choose, right?"

"Well then we wait until you're tired," Monroe suggested, still trying to fight the exhaustion. He blinked a few times and looked over at Adaryn. "And I guess I'd fall into someone else's dream if they were in the library as well and had fallen asleep. I don't know how far they can be away from me for me to fall into their dreams and maybe I can choose and I just don't know it." He shrugged. He really only knew the basics of his power and that was enough to drive him away from it.
He sent a playful glare at Eloise. "Hey, sleeping in the library is a hell of a lot better than sleeping in the same room as two other guys. I bet you can guess why." He just wanted to lie his head down and forget about things, even for just a moment.

Eloise shuddered. "Thanks for the images Monroe," she said rolling her eyes. It was a lot different for people who just assumed what he meant. Ella could make out EXACTLY what Monroe meant and her mind went off creating its own detail to the thought her friend had provided. "I took a long nap today. I can always make sure he stays awake until you're ready to fall asleep," Eloise offered. "I mean... even if you could select dreams you obviously don't know how yet and that's not the kind of experiment we're trying to preform tonight," she continued.
She wondered how powerful of a dreamwalker Monroe was. She knew her dad could dreamwalk, but he wasn't so powerful that he could put himself into any dream. Only those of people he knew, and would "accept" his presence. She only then realized how strange it was that Monroe fell into nearly anybody's dream. She supposed every dream walker would be different. The same way her dad had to focus very hard to read minds, rather than thoughts flooding in like Eloise. Every case had to vary. "Maybe that'll be an experiment for another night," she commented, honestly curious about Monroe's case. It was strange how Ella was more invested in other's powers than her own.

"Alright, I guess we can do that then. Maybe it was easier if I feed off of your mental exhaustion? I don't know of that is considered an emotion but maybe I could." Adaryn shrugged. Looking at Monroe and Ella, she smiled slightly. She noticed they acted like brother ans sister, and in some way, it was comforting. She had never had a relationship like that with her family because of the whole "empathy" thing. "Can you guys stop bickering like an old married couple? I mean, if you two want to pull each other's dentures out, please do it when I am not around?" She said quietly, a small smile on her lips. It was the closest thing she made to a joke all day.
" So are we going to get going? Or are we going to wait until I get tired, because let me tell you, I probably will refuse to get up." Adaryn was not the most pleasant person to be around when she was tired. She got upset quite easily and if someone tried to pry her out of her precious bed before she had to, it wasn't very pretty.

"Sorry El, just defending my reasons for sleeping in the library. It was necessary," Monroe explained with a shrug. He knew that he needed to explore his power more, he just really hated the idea, but if it would help figure out this situation and keep Adaryn safe, then he guessed he'd just have to deal with it. It was different when someone was in danger. He'd just rather ignore the fact that he could go into other peoples' dreams. He didn't know if he could choose. All he knew was what happened accidentally and that was falling into dreams whenever someone fell asleep nearby. It was especially bad when he was in class, actually engaged and then someone in the back row fell asleep. Monroe followed soon after.
"It's worth a try," he told Adaryn. "I don't know if exhaustion is considered an emotion, but why the hell not?" He laughed when she called him and Ella an old married couple. "You've got jokes." He raised an eyebrow, smiling in her direction just before she started asking if they were going to leave.
"I guess," he offered. "I mean, that is if I can make myself get up."

"Don't make me use your full name, mister," Eloise scolded Monroe, knowing just how much he hated his first name. "Get your butt out of bed!" She only half joked before getting off the bed herself, and turning to her desk to throw a few things, including her laptop, into her backpack. She figured she may as well get some things done if she were going to need to oversee this endeavor. She fixed her hair, pulling it up into another messy bun before turning to face the other two again. "Clearly its more of a mother and young child relationship, but I blame the fact that Monroe probably functions at the level of a first grader when he's this tired," she joked, ever keeping the mood light in her own special way. (For a pessimist, she still liked things to be light and fun)

"But isn't he always tired?" Adaryn raised a brow at Monroe. For a moment, she couldn't believe how at ease she seemed. It was as if she was becoming somebody that she wasn't, and it was scary as well as a relief. It was nice to feel comfortable and be able to joke with people again, Though these jokes would probably be the last jokes she would tell for a long time. With Cain, there was no room to joke. He was all business, and Adaryn knew that.
She felt a chill run down her spine at the thought of the man, and she looked at Eloise. "While we are knocked out, you will be watching, right?" Of course, the obvious answer would be yes, but she did stuff her laptop into her bag for a reason. She would probably be doing homework. But if it distracted her to the point where she stopped watching them, Monroe could get hurt again and not get woken up to pull out. ' Cause the last time Monroe was in my dream, apparently he started bleeding from the cut Cain gave him. I just want to make sure you will watch so if he starts bleeding, you wake him up.' She thought, glancing over at Monroe with worry for a moment before her gaze shifted back to her room mate. Can you do that for me?.

Eloise could only smile at Adaryn. "This stuff is going to focus me to stay awake," she promised. "I'm not going to let myself fall asleep if you two might be in danger." She internalized Adaryn's request, and promised to not let anything happened to either of them. They were two of the only people Eloise liked or trusted to any extent at the school so far And she felt compelled to help them.
"Like I said before. I took a pretty long nap today, so I should be ok to stay up. If not... well... I will be. I'll make sure that I'm not falling asleep." She hated coffee. She wouldn't turn to it. She would find something to keep her up, weather it be loud music or an action movie. As long as it would keep her aware enough to keep an eye on Monroe and Adaryn as well.

Monroe rolled his eyes. "I'm not always tired. I'm sleep deprived. And trust me, Ad, there is a big difference." He felt the need to point it out. Then his gaze shifted to Eloise. "I resent that. I think I fall at the level of a fifth grader." He cringed at the thought of her using his first name and made himself get up from the bed, stretching his arms high above his head with a yawn, his dark shirt riding up his stomach a bit.
When he'd finished, he looked between the two girls, feeling as if he was missing something entirely. Girls and their secrets... I mean, sure Monroe had secrets, but he internalized them. "The library awaits us," he told them as he walked towards the door.

She only nodded at Monroe's statement. She saw no difference between the two, because if someone is sleep deprived, they are tired. But she would never say that. If there was anything Adaryn was good at, it was avoiding an argument.
Hearing Eloise and Monroe go back and forth like that, well, it made her smile. She appreciated the playful banter from the two since it was keeping the mood light. Sure, she could still feel the uneasiness coming from both of them, but that was only natural. Monroe was going into something where he could possibly get hurt while Eloise had to sit back and watch them, unable to do anything else. "Thanks, Ella." She said.
"The library awaits us."
She bit her lower lip softly. She was going to go into this dream purposely, dragging Monroe into it as well. Would Cain know that she wanted him to come? What would happen if he did? Would he start going into Eloise's dreams too? "I guess," She said distantly, following behind Monroe. Was this a good idea? Probably not, but she knew Monroe wouldn't let her suffer any longer. A feeling bubbled up in her stomach. What was it? Happiness? Excitement? No... It was gratitude. She continued on, saying nothing, allowing the gratitude to overwhelm her. It was by far better than feeling fear. So much better.
