Ocean spotted the weak looking boy that Sapphire had picked out. She smirked, watching him being shoved around. A small part of her felt sorry for the guy as people bumped him. She wanted to give her courage to push them back and stand up for himself. Maybe that is what she will use her powers for. "How about we help that guy, and then once I have shown you my powers we can use them for fun."
Occ:// who is the guy? Is it a randomer, or a real character?

ooc: Syd thought it was Dakota, but idk if she still wants him to shove people out of the way ... or cause a fiery scene.
"He does need a bit of help, does he?" Sapphire said as she gave her a more warmer smile. "Let's help him, then we can choose someone else to screw around with. Like maybe a jock or someone you hate." Sapphire was starting to like Oceaniana, not for her power, but for her personality. It had been a while since she found a cheerleader that actually cared about scrawny boys that get shoved all around the place. Though, she'd have to admit that kid needed to grow a back bone a little. Maybe push away a few people would get everyone to notice that they were almost trampling him.
The music to the dance was rather addicting to move to, so Sapphire moved along with the beat with her hips and her waist. Sapphire didn't mean to look sexy at all, but apparently she was because she brought on a lot of attention. "And then maybe after," she suggested again, "we can get rid of this unwanted attention? I swear to god I look like a playboy to them." She would have to admit though, most of the boys looked pathetic and desperate staring at her like that.
ooc: Yes, Sapphire is a male magnet. No, she doesn't want it. XD

It was undeniable the attention that the two of them got. They were two of hottest girls in Spiritus, and they got envious looks from most of the female population and lusting looks from most of the males. It was a good job that Uriel was not the jealous type otherwise Sapphire would always be in trouble. And many guys would end up with broken noses?
Oceaniana linked hands with Sapphire and started in the direction of the guy. "So how about we kill two birds with one stone? I can make that jock pushing him about look incredibly stupid, which will help the boy." She pondered out aloud, wondering what Sapphire would think to that. Oceaniana hated bullies. She wasn't a bully herself, she just made herself out to be a stuck up rich kid.

ooc: It doesn't have to be Dakota anymore. He's doing something anyway.
Monroe still felt stupid, although he tried to hide it. Adaryn told him it was okay and he sighed in relief, but then Ella started running her mouth and Monroe wanted to facepalm. He knew she meant well, but she was so blunt about everything and Adaryn didn't handle that well. Quite frankly, he didn't handle that well either. "I wasn't mad," he told Eloise, matter-of-factly. That made him sound horrible. Completely horrible. He turned to Adaryn, in her flowery black dress. Small, selfless, Adaryn and he tried to think of how to explain himself in a way that he didn't come off as an envious jerk. "Ad...I just needed to be on my own for a while after everything lately. It wasn't...it wasn't all because of that." Not all of it, but Adaryn was stammering and then she'd ran off before he had the chance to say much more.
"El," he said, turning to face her, a serious, slightly worn out expression on his face. "I get what you were trying to do, but do you think you could tone it down on stating things like they are? Ad doesn't handle that well. And even if I do like her, if I do think about her, and worry about her a lot...you don't have to just throw it out there in front of the both of us when you'd finally gotten us to agree to come here. Adaryn looks absolutely beautiful and she needs to know that, but shit, Eloise..." he trailed off, watching as Adaryn ran off down the corridor. "You came off a little too strong. I can handle myself, you know. I can tell a girl when I like her. I just don't know how Adaryn will take it. She's barely accepted me as her friend, she's so hard to warm up to people." He knew she was only trying to help her friends, but still. She was acting like the meddling sister he'd never had.
"Now I have to go and try to get her to come back..." As if things weren't awkward enough.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tanner looked at her with a roll of his eyes. "You keep being in denial, Sky. This pretty accent will still be here when you finally accept that it's amazing." He laughed afterwards. Sure, they were always having battles about who had the biggest ego. At least it seemed that way, but he knew they were both just joking around and trying to one up each other. It was their friendship. It had started out competitive in the first place with the swim team.
As they neared the doors, he tore his eyes away from the three freshmen to look at Skylar. What was she talking about? "What?" It may have seemed as if he was playing dumb, but Tanner truly did not remember the thoughts he'd just had moments ago or the fact that he'd practically been staring at the three younger students. "You think I'm into Freshmen?" Was that what she was insinuating?!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gavin rolled his eyes at Uriel again. "Yeah, yeah. Quit acting like you're the greatest thing to bless the earth and just go with Aura's plan. You can go out in style in some other way, like when you die and I'm sure with your looks, even death will look attractive on you." It was half-sarcastic, but all in good fun. Uriel was just a different kind, that was all. Then again, he hadn't grown up at the Maddox household, with a brutal father who trained you to be the best. Not act the best. Acting was one thing, being was another.
He was waiting for what Uriel would suggest and exchanging a glance with Aura when all hell seemed to break loose as Uriel had attacked random people nearby them. Now that would certainly distract people, although they'd wonder why the hell he'd seemingly gone mad. "What the fuck are you doing, Mikhail?" he shouted at him as he kicked a man in the neck. There were so many people around and here he went. Who knew if the guy could control himself? He might kill everybody in a five feet radius.
When he landed after some dramatic move, Gavin walked right up to him, feeling the eyes of students boring into his back. "You fucking idiot," he said, his voice coated with annoyance. So, it may have seemed as if he was playing along, just helping to further distract from Aura, but he was actually annoyed with the asshole. Like this didn't look like some random distraction! He hadn't even had a motive to attack these people.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dakota turned away bashfully when the guy noticed his eyes on him. He was such an idiot. He didn't even know how to act. Why had he come to the ball again? He should have listened to Talon and stayed back in the room. He saw that the guy was pouring himself some punch and found himself walking back over to the table where he'd been standing moments ago. "Be careful," he warned, jokingly. "I've already had four glasses. It's addicting." He'd just finished his sentence when he heard the shattering of glass and a loud commotion that had to have meant a fight. "Seems like someone's gone crazy already," he commented before turning back to the curly haired guy. An attempt at small talk: Accomplished. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everett finally made his way out of the crowd as a song ended. Some of his hair was matted to his forehead. Wow it was warm. He needed a drink of something. He was weaving his way through the crowd and to the refreshment table when his gaze landed on somebody standing a little ways from it, near the wall. He changed direction instead, skipping the refreshments table and made his way over. No way she had actually shown up. No way was she in a dress. As he got closer, he beamed. "Look who showed up." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ooc: omg, so sorry for my long posts, but it's annoying to do them all separately and I haven't even done Keyla yet because winkwinknudgenudge, Kiki needs to reply.

"You don't think I know I'm blunt?" Eloise asked to Monroe sassily, never one to just sit down and take criticism or an argument without fighting back a little. She didn't like how he made it out that all the blame was to be put on her. "It's an effect of being raised by a single dad who doesn't understand shit about his own daughter. And you don't think I know how Adaryn works? How she thinks? I guarantee I know her better than you ever will, because I can't turn this curse in my head off! I can't just sit here and ignore the things you two think about each other. And I honestly wish I could just trade places with you for a day so you'd understand that!" she was frustrated. With the situation. With herself. With the fact that Adaryn ran off.
She sighed and looked after her friend. "Go get her," he said to Monroe in a softer tone than she had been using. "She needs you. And I don't mean she needs you to bring her back. She just needs you," Eloise said seriously to Monroe, everything that had been running through Ad's head recently burned into her mind.
Marley glanced up as a familiar voice reached her ears. She sighed. "Well looks whose hair is douchier than ever," she commented, seeing as his hair was matted to his forehead yet somehow standing on end up top. She wondered if his hair would light on fire if she took a match to it.
"I made a promise," she explained simply. Her tone just implied she never broke promises. Too many promises that were made to her had been broken. And she hoped she never made anybody feel as horrible as she felt when those things had happened. So even stupid promises like this one she kept.
"And I'm only in this dress because the stupid lady in the store wouldn't shut up until I bought it..."
Rafi turned as the boy who had been looking at him spoke up. His voice was a little shaky. Like he didn't know how to handle himself. He had looked a little lost too. Rafi smiled, in an attempt to make him feel more at ease. Perhaps this was his first dance. Many people were overwhelmed by the first experience. "Oh this is normal from my experiences," Rafi said turning to face him. "It doesn't take long for somebody to get their feelings hurt. And these kids have powers... things are bound to go wrong." He shook his head, and clicked his tongue - how his mother used to imply shame on him as a child. It was a habit he had picked up.
He sipped his punch. "Ah... it is good..." he half mumbled. He turned back to the boy. "My name is Rafael," he said. "I have not seen you before, so I must assume you are from Veritas. No?"

Monroe sighed when she finished, standing there for a long moment just looking at her. "Look, El...I didn't mean to say anything about your power. It's not your choice...to hear our thoughts. I just...let me tell her on my own, okay?" He knew it had to be hard for Eloise to hear the thoughts of everyone around her all the time. It was probably maddening, so he understood why it was that she was trying so hard to make this work. And then he was shaking his head. "And please never say you want to trade places with me, El. My mom didn't understand what was wrong with her son. She didn't know why I wouldn't sleep." However, perhaps if they did trade places, they would understand each other better. "The conscious mind sucks, but so does the unconscious."
He bit his lip, staring down the hallway and then looked back to Eloise, her face coming into focus as she told him to go after her. But one thought was on his mind. Adaryn thought things about him? He nodded at her. "Yeah...okay. Thanks, El," he managed with a small smile and he turned away. "Oh and you look great tonight. I didn't get the chance to tell you that. I was too busy being mad because I had to come here."
With that, he turned off and began his way down the hall, breaking into a sprint. It wasn't often that he ran. He actually found running kind of annoying, especially in combat boots. They were loud on the floor. "Ad!"

She heard loud clanging on the concrete floor, and she turned the corner, trying to run faster than her pursuer. Adaryn couldn't talk to anybody right now. She was upset, and when she was upset, she could do some serious emotional damage. She wouldn't forgive herself if she hurt someone like she hurt her sister. Adaeyn knew she could strip away all the emotional stability they had in a matter of seconds. " Leave me alone!" Adaryn cried.
She wasn't a slow girl. Adaryn prided herself on her ability to flee from others. There were many times she had to use that skill, and it wasn't many times that she was caught. She couldn't believe how badly Eloise humiliated her in front of Monroe. And people wondered why she didn't trust easily! She choked back a sob, feeling the embarrassment consume her. It was ridiculous! Adaryn turned another corner and reached a dead end. She came to an abrupt stop and looked around. How was there a dead end in a SCHOOL? She searched for some exit, but there was none. "Ugh!"
What was the worst part of being an empath? The reactions you had to certain things were amplified compared to that of a normal person. Adaryn slid to the ground with a frustrated sigh and brought her knees up to her chest.

Everett should have known the comment about his hair was coming. That's how most things started with Marley. Somehow he found the edges of his lips curling up in a smile at it instead of being annoyed. That meant that perhaps Marley wasn't still royally pissed with him because of what he'd done, although he imagined she was still slightly pissed. He held up his arm. "My burn's healing," he told her. "It's kind of awkward that it's the shape of a hand print though." His grin turned into a smirk. "I see that. You keep your word." He nodded, wondering why she'd kept her promise. She could have easily not shown up and part of Everett was still floored that she had. What was her reasoning?
Then it was as if he was reading her mind about the dress. "Sure, sure," he said, waving a hand. "I bet you actually like the dress and you won't admit it." Black was definitely her color that was for sure. "Am I allowed to say you look nice or will you punch me? Or make me blow up or something?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dakota still looked at the commotion going on among two upperclassmen before turning back to the guy he was speaking to. He shrugged. "I guess if you put so many teenagers in the same place with powers, something is bound to happen," he agreed. "Yeah, the punch is really good." He was tempted to even have another cup and he was reaching for one when the guy introduced himself. Rafael. He even had an accent and Dakota had a whirlwind of questions running through his mind, including where he was from. He was sure he was Hispanic. And damn was he gorgeous. Dakota wondered what was going on with him. Had he always been so attracted to guys and just ignored it? It's as if he never even allowed himself to look at them in that way and now that he finally let himself, he felt much more at ease. Well, in that regard anyway. He was a wreck as far as talking with them. "Dakota," he finally replied. "And yeah, I go to school at Veritas. I'm surprised you haven't heard of me actually..." With the whole story about Talon and....he just didn't want to think about it.

Monroe knew it was futile to yell after her. It wasn't like she was going to stop. She had trouble handling her emotions. And Monroe didn't even know what is emotions were. They made quite a pair. He skidded to a stop, his combat boots no longer loud on the tiled floor of the corridor when she'd come to the end of a hallway. She'd taken a turn down a wing that ended in classrooms. He stopped a few feet away from her, watching as she sank to the ground. It reminded him of a while ago, in the hallway when she'd done the same thing. She'd ran. When would she realize that she didn't have to run from him, or from Eloise? "Ad..." he said softly, approaching her. "El was just trying to help, you know that, right? She's just...she's blunt and she doesn't let things go unsaid. It's her personality." And it wasn't always bad.

Sapphire thought for a moment as they walked, then smirked wide. "It would be interesting to see what you can do to make him look like a fool." she agreed with a nod. "Helping the boy and making someone look like an utter fool. Could the night get any more sweeter?"
A laugh escaped her lips as she looked to the jock pushing the boy around. The jock was taller and definitely more built than the boy being thrown around like a rag doll. He had black hair and green eyes. A simple tux was what he wore for the night. If you looked a little closer though you could see that it was cheaply bought at Value Village. "The tastes of low men these days ..." Sapphire muttered out as she tsked and shook her head, giving Oce a smirk.

Ocean concerntrated on the jock, her eyes intensely watching him for a few moments. She smirked, and if anyone was paying close attention they would of noticed her eyes darkening from a ocean blue color to a dark navy blue color. "This will be interesting," She mumbled to Sapphire and her mind began to merge with that of the Jocks. She thought for a few seconds, and then commanded the unsuspecting Jock, who did not know that he was being possessed, to pull down his trousers and reveal his spongebob boxers. Ocean turned to Sapphire and shrugged. "How to embarrass him Sapp?"

" Stay away!" Adaryn told Monroe, already recognizing him from the sound of combat boots and exhaustion. Adaryn wouldn't forgive herself if something happened to him. Whether she liked it or not, Monroe was her friend and would be there for her. But she just wanted to be left alone. "I-I don't want you here..."She said weakly, making it obvious that she was just saying that.
She didn't speak when he started talking, and once he finished, she just shook her head. "Regardless of whether or not she is a blunt person, she had no reason to say the things she did. I told her some of those things in confidence. And then you--" Adaryn finally looked up at him, hurt appearing in the depths of her blue eyes. " You ignored me for the past few days because you were hurt that some junior asked me to the dance? You probably didn't wait long enough to see me say no and walk away. Why would you just assume I said yes? If you haven't noticed by now, Monroe, I don't like people." It hurt. All of it hurt. Why did she even bother with them? All Ella does is spill her secrets and all Monroe dis was follow her everywhere like a lost puppy.
" why are you even here, Monroe?"

Byron laughed and let out a smirk. "Yeah," Byron agreed, "I guess you're right about that. I always want what I don't have. Like laser eyes and cool stuff like that. Buut that's not possible. Gotta learn to live with what you have." He gave her a wide smirk when she mentioned her using her powers for defense. "That was some smirk. Have you done anything like this before, ma'am?" Byron pretended to hold a notebook and a pen while he leaned in like a stereotypical journalist would. He then let out a laugh and leaned against the wall again. "Seriously though, have you?" This was rather interesting for Byron right now, for this new girl was actually really fun to be around. She could actually take a joke at least.

Monroe didn't get any closer to her and instead froze where he was. She'd made it clear that she didn't want him there, didn't want him to move any closer, but he couldn't bring himself to just leave her there. He never could. Not in her nightmares, not in the hallway back at the dorms, not really anywhere, or any way.
"It doesn't make it right," he agreed. "Look, we all have these powers and they take a toll on us. You, me and Eloise. We need to help each other out. She's just going crazy from hearing thoughts and it bothers her that she knows how...." he trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "I have noticed. I've noticed a lot of things about you, Adaryn. I know that you don't like to be around people, that you're afraid of losing control of your emotions. I've noticed how selfless you are, how willing you are to throw yourself under a bus for everyone else. I may be sleep deprived 95 percent of the time, Ad, but I...I was just being stupid, okay? I thought you'd say yes, because...well, I don't know why. I let myself believe something false. It's easy to do, okay?"
Her last burning question stung and he stood there, feet planted firmly on the ground, not wavering. "I'm here because I care about you, Ad. You're all sorts of beautiful and caring and selfless...but you get mad at me because I don't know...maybe I like you as a person? Is that so hard to believe? Do you hate yourself that much? Because if Cain told you that you should, he's spewing bullshit. You know that right?" He licked his lips. His mouth was so dry from rambling. "And I wasn't ignoring you, okay? I just...I'm trying to sort out things in my head and I needed to be on my own and...I was going to ask you to do something, to hang out on the day of the dance. I mean, I didn't want to go. Who wants to go to a stupid dance? Especially when El tells me I shouldn't wear my combat boots and I have to comb my hair. But I wanted to hang out with you, Ad. And I guess that guy asking you just sort of crushed my confidence. I'm not invincible, you know. I stood up to Cain...but that doesn't mean that I'm not fucking terrified. I died the other night. I was dead and I know because I felt it, for the shortest moment. And now I'm alive and I'm trying to deal with it. Trying to deal with all of this and all I want is for you to just let me in." His gaze averted to the wall. "Maybe El's not fully right, but she is right about me. I'm a coward because if I wasn't...I would have told you how I felt. I just...didn't want to bombard you with my emotions." But now he was anyway. "But I like you, Ad. El was right about that."
He didn't remember the last time he said that much and he stopped, letting the silence fall over them. He wondered if she'd even respond. Had he wasted his breath? No, she was his friend. His words would never be wasted on her.

Sapphire let out a laugh, covering her mouth as she did so. "Humiliation is the sweetest thing," she said before looking at Oce. "I think he needs a little more than that, if you would agree?" Sapphire grinned at Oce before watching the scrawny boy laugh his rear end off at the sight. "Yes, a little more humiliation will do the trick. In case he decides to swing at the poor boy for laughing." Even though everyone else was laughing all around, she knew the jock was going to punch someone to shut everyone else up. Every one of them always did.
