The air around them stilled. She didn't know what to think. Gabe had lied to her. More than that, he was only able to keep up the lie because she couldn't see. He had basically taken advantage of her disability in order to lie. Mikayla felt a stab in her chest upon that realization. She felt betrayed.
"Gabe, you could have told me," she said, her voice quiet. She was usually soft-spoken, but now there was a sadness to her tone. "I would have understood if you had said you didn't want to test your powers." She shook her head, trying to wrap her head around it all. The night breeze picked up into a brisk wind, and the flower in her hair came loose and fell to the ground. She left it. "But I don't understand why you felt like you had to lie about it." Her voice became hard as she continued, and her brows knitted with annoyance. "You've always been so great with me and the fact that I can't see. Or at least I thought. But now I find out you've been using it to your advantage? Continuously! To lie."
The air around them became humid and a fork of lightning flashed across the sky.
She wanted to understand, she really did. And perhaps she could have, but she had trusted Gabe, and he had ruined it. She had felt so close to him. She had felt special, thinking she was the only one who he was able to relax completely around and not worry about his power. But now she just felt like a fool, knowing she had mentioned it from time to time and he had just played along. All those times he could have owned up about the lie, but he hadn't.
The humid air around them seemed to crackle with electricity as her powers seemed to have a mind of their own. She didn't even try to harness them; her mind was too focused on the issue at hand.

Gabe jumped at the crack of thunder and flash of lightning. While Mikayla seemed to have a calm composure, Gabe knew better by the sudden change in weather and the fierceness in her eyes. He ran a hand through his hair jumping again at more lightning. "Mik I... I didn't... I'm sorry I didn't know that..." he had no clue how to make anything sound good. It was like he forgot how to form sentences.
"I would never... I mean..." but he did... "I would never... intentionally... use that against you. Your blindness. It... it doesn't..." He groaned at his inability to speak. "I didn't mean it Mik," he said desperately. "I didn't even remember you wanted to try it..." he said honestly, desperation lacing his voice and the lines on his face.

Perhaps she was over-reacting and perhaps she should just listen to him and be rational, but she was allowing her hurt to steer the emotional trip she was on, and her powers took full advantage of it. "But you did," she snapped, her words followed by another crack of thunder. There was no rain; the storm was purely thriving off of the energy from her anger. But it threatened. Dark clouds blocked out the moon and the stars that were usually visible, ready to pour buckets the second Mikayla lost her composure. She was battling the lump in the throat. She didn't want to cry. "You did, and it makes me feel like crap, Gabe. I think... I think you should just go. It's going to rain," she added, and turned away. She couldn't see him, but she didn't want to face him, either. She needed to be alone. And she didn't want him to see her cry.

"Mikayla..." Gabe begged, taking a few steps to follow her. She was walking pretty quickly. He wondered how she was going to find her way back to Spiritus. If she even could alone. He couldn't just let her run off. "Mik... please," he begged, though her pace quickened as another bolt of lightning mades its way through the sky.
Gabe lifted his feet off the ground, and flew in front of Mikayla, stopping her in her tracks. "Mikayla I can't let you just run off on your own..." he said, scared of the look on her face. It was a mix of anger and sadness, and he swore she looked like she was about to cry. "I swear I didn't mean to hurt you."

Walking away from him was stupid, and she figured that out the moment she took the first step. She had no idea what direction the school was even in, much less the exact location of the path. Getting back on her own would be a complete pain and would take forever; if she once headed in the wrong direction, she could get extremely lost. But she didn't want Gabe's help. She didn't want anything from him right then.
She felt him move past her, and stopped, unsure of how close in front of her he was until he spoke. She stepped back, nearly stumbling over an uneven spot on the ground. At least she had worn flats so she did not have to deal with heels. "God, Gabe, I know, all right?" she snapped, placing her hands on either side of her head in her frustration. "I'm not deaf! You may not have meant it, but you still lied. You still hurt me!" The lump in her throat seemed to grow ten times in size as she spoke, but still she fought it down. "All you had to do was take off your stupid glasses or at least tell me you weren't comfortable! I don't even know why you thought lying was a good idea, but I don't want to talk about it anymore, okay?" She stepped forward, only to walk right into him, then lifted her hand and wrapped her fingers around the side of his glasses. In her anger, she pulled them off his face and threw them to the ground, hoping they would shatter but knowing they weren't made of glass or anything. "You see?!" she shouted at him. "The glasses are off and I'm still hurt! I'm not throwing myself into your arms because of your powers! There's no change! So just go, okay? Just go!" She folded her arms over her chest and ducked her head, unable to fight the tears any longer. "Just go," she repeated, her voice broken. The sky opened up.

Gabe stood in front of Mikayla, mouth slightly agape. His eyes were squeezed shut for a moment, though he knew it was no use. He opened them, and stared into Mikayla's speechlessly. And the fact that it didn't make any difference made him feel even more stupid. Had he tried it before, he would ahve not had to worry about his charm all this time. Had he tried it he would have had to lie to her. None of this would be happening and their perfect evening wouldn't be falling apart. Then, as Mikayla asked him to go, rain started to fall. Gabe looked up to the sky and sighed. His hair became soaked and clung to his forehead. His tux became heavy and waterlogged. He didn't even look around to try and find his glasses.
"I'll go...I'll leave you alone" he choked out, the words hurting to say. "Just let me help you back..." he added softly, knowing she wouldn't be able to get there herself.

Aura couldn't even say much and that made Gavin's grin even wider. "Little Aura is a good girl going bad," he chided her before taking a sip of his punch. It tasted a little different with whatever Uriel had them add to it, but it wasn't as if Gavin couldn't handle his alcohol. However, there were probably a lot of students here who couldn't.
When she downed her cup, he watched impressed, raising an eyebrow at her as she finished it off. He polished off his own cup as she made a suggestion to dance and followed her, smirking at her wink as she beckoned him. It was hard to resist her in that red dress especially. "Alright, we'll dance." Women. They were so persistent.
But if he had it his way, dancing wasn't all that they'd be doing.
---------------------
"Trouble Trio? Is that what everyone is calling them?" Mace asked Cat, cocking an eyebrow at her. The name was fitting. The third member was that tall blonde from Veritas who was some sort of womanizer from Russia. "But yeah, he's also my roommate. Unfortunately. Thankfully we just got a third roommate who I actually think I like. Maddox is just a handful, not to mention he's cocky as hell. And not in the good way, like me." He flashed a smile at his own joke. It wasn't that Mace was full of himself, he was just a confident guy for the most part. However, Gavin could stand to take it down a notch. "He once paralyzed me because my side of the dorm was a mess." He also had quite an anger problem.... "But enough about him," he said, turning back to face her. His gaze had followed hers to where Gavin was with the dark haired swimmer from Veritas.
"That's just it, though. They can't match me, which might be part of the reason I don't have a date. Although a plaid dress would be kickass in my opinion." Well, he didn't have a date because he really didn't care enough about a dance to even go. He was really only here because well...Mikayla, who he couldn't even find anyway. He'd just thrown on something in the back of his closet and headed out.
He took notice that she seemed to be lost in her mind as they spoke, but near the end of their conversation, she seemed all there even joining in on the joking. Some might argue that Mace was flirting and maybe he was, but he was also just a friendly, outgoing guy who loved to talk with others, especially girls who had a different spark to them, like Cat.
"So, you're at the snow ball. Doesn't seem like your scene," he pointed out.
--------------------------
Dakota didn't really follow what Rafi was talking about, but he definitely noticed that Rafi talked as if he'd lived a thousand years. He seemed like an old soul, wise and patient. It was calming to Dakota, a nice contrast to his life currently, which he felt was quite literally going up in flames.
He found himself laughing anyway. Maybe it was the spiked punch. He didn't know, but he couldn't stop smiling at the guy in front of him. "I'm not big on alcohol. Especially at a school function where there are tons of kids with powers," he told him.
--------------------------------
Everett was shocked that Marley didn't cut him off in the middle of his rant. She merely stared at him, looking incredibly unamused in that Marley-esque way that should make him annoyed, but instead only made him grin. "God, you're like a super-villain. My arch enemy, Malicious Marley." He didn't care how ridiculous it sounded. It was the first thing that came to mind. "Your arch enemy isn't supposed to know your weakness." That spelled trouble for the hero. "And I'm sorry that I'm skittish about something that could kill me."
He'd barely noticed that the song around them was no longer a slow one, instead a pop tune that was probably played way too many times on the radio.

"Yeah," Cat smirked- "It's not the most clever, but it's definitely the most apt." And if how some people were acting near the punch bowl was any indication, she bet they were the top culprits to have spiked it. T-r-o-u-b-l-e, with a capital T, she thought. But this was her being hypocritical, so she didn't really make an effort to pursue the topic when Mace ended it, instead nodding and looking out to start watching other people... Oh, what a cute couple! She suddenly noticed, noting a blonde, chipper boy happily slow dance with a dark, sullen girl- in the middle of fist-pumping teenagers, with a hard pop song playing, and the girl not seeming to mind very much. That looks fun. Dancing sounds good right about now... but staying to talk to Mace, instead of being alone again, is much better. She turned at his next words, giving him back her full attention, with one final glance at the dance floor to satisfy her desire...
"Roommate? Paralyzed? It sounds exciting," She then teased, purposely gliding over his exasperated tone, but sincerely expressing her surprise. Idly, she thought of her own roommates, who've never talked to her in all their time at Spiritus- but quickly forced it down. It's not like it would be their fault, with Cat always off raising hell, rather than at the dorm trying to see if they'd give her a chance. Well, not many people would give her a chance anyway, which on the bright side made Mace special, she smiled to herself... She again briefly wondered if she was making it too easy to pull a trick on her, but it didn't seem the case, with how he was smiling back.
She laughed when he called himself cocky, except a good kind of cocky, and... "I can believe that. You look like a very good, very nice guy." She said slowly, honestly, once she'd recovered. "Very... Very..." She tried to find a word for his kind boyish charm, before a cheshire grin grew on her lips. "...Innocent. Like a really cute puppy." She shrugged, betting he'd be very amusing in his reaction to that.
"You would think that," She then said knowingly, but not tauntingly- she was absolutely delighted someone shared her love of plaid. That, and she had quite a few plaid dresses... but she'd never really found an appropriate occasion for them before. Thinking about this, she replied thoughtfully. "I actually don't wear many dresses, though I try to for special occasions. Maybe if we see each other around again, you'll get what I mean." She smiled, trying not to seem too hopeful…
His next words made her pause, and she wondered how to explain it all. She didn't really know why she came herself, she just… "It isn't. You're right. But something made me rethink myself all of a sudden- call it fate, fortune or luck," Cat smiled bashfully, "It just felt like the right thing to do, and the feeling was too big to ignore..."

After her outburst, Mikayla fell silent. As the rain poured around them, she let her tears fall freely, her cheeks the only part of her that was getting wet. That was the thing with her powers; they hardly affected her. Right then she wanted to feel the rain. She wanted it to ruin her dress, to drown the hairstyle her dormmates had helped her with, to smear her makeup. She felt like a mess; she wanted to look it, too. But instead the rain fell all around her, leaving her looking severely out of place.
"Please," she whispered, ducking her head. She wished she could block out the hurt in his voice. It seemed to make everything worse. "I just need to be alone. The storm will probably worsen if you don't go. So just... I'll be fine." She had no idea how she was going to get back to the school, but at the moment she didn't care.
----------
Aura glared at Gavin's comment. "Oh, shut up," she snapped, though her eyes danced with amusement. He was right; she was a good girl gone bad. Except she wasn't little, and she wanted to punch him for that comment. However the violent urge ebbed away the closer they got to the dance floor.
A song she didn't know was playing when they got there, although that was not saying much. Aura did not listen to music. It had a decent rhythm, though. She danced very close to Gavin and moved her body rather seductively to the music. She had never danced like this before and supposed it was probably influenced by the alcohol and the powers that was sojourning inside of her. That, and the fact that she wanted to dance that way. She wanted to seduce him. And from the way he looked at her dress, she didn't think she would have to work all that hard.

"Good point," Rafi said to Dakota, not even fully sure how alcohol would effect some of the kids and their decisions and control regarding their powers. It was actually probably more dangerous here than at most other schools or parties. He smiled back at Dakota. It seemed as if he couldn't stop - not that Rafi minded. He enjoyed others happiness as much as he enjoyed his own. He just wondered how much the punch was really effecting Dakota. "So tell me..." Rafi mused, "are you usually this conversational? friendly? Or am I talking to the punch?" Rafi laughed, showing he was joking, though still wondered if he would get an answer.
Marley shrugged when Everett talked about being skittish. She knew what it was like to feel that way about something in particular."Don't ever call me Melicous Marley ever again," she warned him as the song changed. She made a wry face and backed away from Everett. "This song sucks..." she muttere, slightly disgusted by the way girls began grinding up on guys around them. She turned back to Ev and stated, "I'll slow dance with you but if you expect me to do any of that you have another thing coming." She still hated that she was here. But it wasn't totally as bad as she expected.
Gabe stared at Mikayla for a moment as if begging her to come to her senses, but the way the rain came down and soaked him even more, he figured he better just leave before she flooded all of Cranbrook. "Fine," he sighed, barely able to see in front of him anymore. "Just... get back safe ok?" he pleaded with her, hoping she would go find her cousin or something. He couldn't take the look on her face anymore. So he lifted his feet off the ground, and flew into the night, over the trees of the forrest and back toward Spiritus. He couldn't go back into the dance if he even wanted to. He barely wanted to go back to Spiritus. He wanted to stay with Mikayla and work it out, but she wasn't having any of it. And Gabe was a bit of a pushover. He didn't know what to do with himself. But he knew he needed to fix things. So he decided to go to the one person he knew would give him advice without judgement even for this stupid problem.

She knew he cared, and she knew he was sorry, but she wasn't ready to forgive him just yet. What Mikayla needed was some time away from him. Perhaps indefinitely; she did not know. She was too hurt and angry and confused to really think about it. So when Gabe left, she just nodded at his parting words. She listened as his footsteps departed, splashing through puddles her rain was already forming.
The thunder and lightning eventually ebbed away and Mikayla sunk to the ground. Her dress soaked up the rain on the path though the rest of her still remained dry because of her powers. After a while she finally began to get cold from sitting in the puddle and pulled out her phone. She didn't know who to call at first. She didn't want to ruin any of her friends' time by asking them to come out in the rain for her, and she had promised Mason that her date was great. That he wouldn't hurt her. She didn't want to call him to come and get her, either. She didn't want him to over-react. So she called the only other person she knew. "Call Ethan Forrester," she choked out into her phone. She had to repeat it a few times before her phone understood what she was saying through her sobs, and as the phone rang, she only hoped her TA was in his office, because it was the only number she had from in. She waited, trying to control her powers and her sobs, as the phone rang.

Ethan wasn't getting ready for the dance that was going on. He was actually pretty thankful that he wasn't chaperoning it in the first place. If there was one thing he wasn't good at, it was watching over a dance. His most awkwardest of conversations could pop up while talking to a student and that would be the end of that student-to-TA relationship. Oh don't get him wrong, he loves to talk with other students, but he's just not could at keeping the conversation from turning into an awkward one.
As he was getting ready to leave, his office phone began to ring. "Now who would be calling tonight?" he wondered aloud as he made his way to the phone. All it read was 'unknown number', which didn't really help answer his question of who might be calling during the dance. With a soft sigh he picked up the phone and held it to his right ear. "Ethan Forrester speaking," he replied in his usual Tennessee accent. It suited him, or so he thought anyway.

Darik nodded and smiled a little. "Yeah, I go to Spiritus," he replied as he sipped his juice, then immediately putting it down at the taste. "Bleh." Darik scrunched up his nose a little and shook his head. "School drinks are always bland. Or was that alcohol I just tasted?" Darik looked into his drink and nodded. "Yeah, someone spiked the punch. Not surprising though." It was the truth. People in this place were evil, due to their powers or no. It only made sense that at one point or another someone was gonna spice up the punch bowl a little ... or a lot.

Byron shrugged. "I normally just drink half of it in one gulp before tasting anything alcoholy." he stated smirking some. "And I knoow you were curious. It's what I like about you. Fits you pretty well." That was the truth. It did fit Keyla, inside and out. Her colorful features only define that theory. The way she acts just kind of completes it. "Aanyway, thanks for throwing that away for me. I might have drunk it again if you never." Byron laughed a little and gave her a smirk, friendly and silly at the same time. "This buzz will wear off ... eventually. Just so you know."

Ziio let out a laugh and took out a fork and began to eat the noodles that was in the dish. "I find this is better cold." she said, in case he gave her a weird look for eating noodles cold. "It's kind of ironic that you like fish. One of my friends can change into canines, and he likes eating rare meats. Not dog treats though ... that would be weird." 'Though very funny' Ziio thought to herself smiling at her thoughts. "Do you like dogs? I'm just curious."
ooc: Byron and him would be like a dog chasing a cat. Very funny XD
