The second she heard his voice, she nearly hung up. What was she doing, calling a teacher? Teaching Assistant. Whatever. This is something she should call her friends for. Except she didn't want to ruin their dance and she doubted many of them even had their phones on them. So instead of leaving herself no choice but to wait outside with no way back and hanging up, she did her best to sound like she wasn't crying. "E-ethan?" she said into her phone, trying her best not to let the rain touch her phone. "I need help. I'm outside Veritas somewhere in the grounds and I c-can't find my way back." She bit her cheek then to stop the sob that fought to break free and waited for his reply. She hoped he would come and get her. If she fell asleep out here, she would probably freeze. As the storm above intensified, her powers to protect her skin from the rain and cold were diminishing. She could only do so much at once, and right now she was completely out of control.

Mace watched as Cat's gaze drifted to the dance floor, lingering there for a long moment. He followed her gaze, watching as people all around them were dancing. It was quite the atmosphere, one that was invigorating to Mace. He wouldn't mind getting lost in the crowd with the music with somebody, but nobody as of late had really sparked his interest. He didn't care for school events usually, but he didn't mind dancing. At all. When her eyes finally returned to meet his, he raised an eyebrow at her. "Exciting? Well, I guess it's amusing up until the point where he paralyzes you and watches you writhe on the floor in pain, laughing to himself. Then it's just painful and you want to punch him in the face. But then I usually just influence his luck anyway. It's good payback." Gavin was a scary guy with supposed 'daddy issues' but he didn't really feel like talking about his roommate anymore.
He listened to her musing about his personality, smiling as she tried to decide on a word to describe him. "Innocent?" he asked, surprised at that. "Compared to some people, I suppose." He shrugged. "Although innocent isn't really....me. I like to consider myself charming with a splash of risk taking and awesome hair." Really that was just more of a joke, but he grinned at her anyway, appreciating what she had to say about him. "But a cute puppy? I'm more of a wolf, honestly."
He listened to her explanation about dresses and wondered if what she said was suggesting that she wanted to see him more, be more than just someone he ran into at the dance. He thought about it for a moment and decided he wouldn't mind. Cat was an alternative kind of girl, someone different and fresh. He wouldn't mind getting to know her.
"Anyway, that sounds a lot more mystical than my reason for being here, which is that I'm looking for my cousin. She wouldn't tell me who her date was and I've kind of given up on trying to find her right now." Did she really believe in fate and luck and fortune and all of that? Mace believed it, for the most part, but he also believed that it could be changed. In his case, he could change it, manipulate it to his own liking, but he also thought that other people could as well to a certain extent. "So, it must just be fate that you crashed into those two guys?" he asked, jerking a thumb in the direction of where they had went. "Maybe one of them is your future husband." He chuckled at the idea.
------------------
"But it's true, isn't it?" Gavin asked after she snapped at him. He knew it was only a reaction to get defensive, especially when somebody pointed something out about you that was true, because you didn't want it to be true, or some shit like that. "You spent your entire life playing it safe, being miss sweet perfect Aura Morgan, but I've got something to tell you, Morgan." He lowered his voice to a sultry whisper. "You are supposed to be bad. You are meant for it. Why else would you be given the powers you were?" It made sense. Why else would he be given the power of Paralysis? You were meant to embrace your powers, no matter what they were. He could help Aura with that, and shedding her good girl persona. There was no way he'd leave that to Uriel, the bastard.
As they made it to the dancefloor, a familiar song was on, pulsing through the auditorium and he let Aura dance close to him, her body pressing up against his. It was obvious and it had been from the beginning: Aura wanted him. He'd made her want him and it was fun, enticing her, but he couldn't deny that she was being successful in doing the same to him. That dress...the way her body moved and the smile that played upon her lips. He wanted her. He put his arms around her waist from behind, pulling her to him as she moved her hips.
--------------------------
"Uhh," Dakota stammered immediately at Rafi's question. "I mean, I guess I'm not unfriendly, but I'm usually not this conversational. Part of it has to be the punch and I apologize for that. The other part is that I'm just trying to put myself out there and actually talk to people as of lately, but I think I'm succeeding at making a fool of myself more than anything." He was running his mouth, a million miles an hour, rambling on and he wondered why Rafi hadn't walked away from him yet, annoyed. But then again, Rafi didn't seem like the kind of guy to do that sort of thing. "You see, I'm new to all of this." Even as he said it, he wasn't exactly sure what he meant. New to socializing again, or new to being interested in guys?
----------------------------
Everett frowned, as if he hadn't expected her to say that, but he really had. He knew Marley wouldn't like a name like that. "Okay, fine. So if you were an arch nemesis what would your name be?" he asked, as she pulled away, annoyed at the upbeat song choice, which sort of made him smirk, his smile turning crooked. He crossed his arms, waiting for an answer. "If my name is so ridiculous, you pick one."
He didn't expect her to dance like that, he didn't even expect her to slow dance with him or even show up at the dance, but she had. And that was enough. Besides, he wasn't really one for the whole 'grinding with hoes' thing. Isn't that what a lot of rap music said? Hoes and money and...cars? He decided not to verbalize his thoughts and instead kept his eyes on Marley.
-----------------
"Yeah, well sounds as if it's a good thing I threw it away then," Keyla told Byron, crossing her arms and glaring at him, although it was playful. "Whatever that stuff is, it's not your typical alcohol. It was probably that notorious Mikhail guy you and your friends were going on about." He reeked of trouble, but that only made her more curious. "It's best if you don't drink it." She rolled her eyes at him when he said the buzz would wear off and shook her head, her red curls bouncing. "Maybe we should find you some water or something," she suggested, trying to keep her mind off of all of the snooping she could do.

Ethan listened and he swore he could hear a little sadness in her tone. Maybe she was scared? Maybe she was upset about something? Well, he'd never know unless he went to get her. "Of course Mikayla. Did you come out the front doors?" that was a stupid thing to ask, but he had to know otherwise he wouldn't be able to find her. As Ethan waited for her to reply, he could hear a crack of thunder outside. The weather channel did not even call for thunderstorms, especially in cold conditions like this. "Are you all right, Mikayla?" Ethan finally asked as he looked out the window. The rain wasn't light, but it wasn't to heavy either. He knew right then that something was wrong. an uncalled thunderstorm in the early winter wasn't exactly common, and he only knew one person that could shift around the weather.

"That ... would be best. Luckily I think I can still stand up straight ..." Byron sood up fully and nodded. "A little light headed, but I should be okay. Unless someone pushes me and then I'll probably lose my balance." he said smirking some. "Now, where do they keep the water bowl? Or do we even have a water bowl here? I can't remember ... Funny how I can't remember the simple things. Like remembering where my agenda went." A laugh escaped him as he looked around. "Looks like others are starting to feel a little funny too." Byron pointed out as he nodded to other students, though unlike Keyla and him, they were still drinking the juice.

Aura glared at Gavin in response. Of course he was right, but she still didn't like admitting it. Since she knew he knew he was right, she didn't reply.
As he spoke of her powers and the fact that she was supposed to be bad, she looked him in the eye and nodded. Again, he was right. All this time she thought her powers were a terrible curse that lost her her family and she should never use. But now that she met Gavin and he helped her see that her powers could be put to use and she could have fun with them, she knew she had been wrong. She was meant to embrace her powers. They were a part of her for a reason. And it was so much more fun to use them. "Don't worry," she told him, brushing non-existant dust from the shoulder of his jacket. "Miss sweet and perfect Aura Morgan is gone." She grinned. "She has been forever replaced with Aura: Badass She-Devil of the West." And it was all thanks to Gavin.
When his arms encircled her waist from behind, she grinded against him to the beat of the music. She wanted him, but she also wanted to drive him crazy. She wanted him to bring up the bet again. She wanted him to practically beg for what she owes him, even if she would give it to him in a heartbeat.

Her guard was down. She didn't think she'd need to worry about it, tonight of all nights. When she felt the all too familiar tug, she frantically threw up her barriers. Hearing a sudden clap of thunder, the jumped slightly. There weren't supposed to be any thunderstorms. Frowning slightly, she let down her barrier ever so slightly, enough to actually feel the tug. Something wasn't right, and she was about to find out what.
Ingrid walked, frequently finding walls, and scowling when she did, she had to walk a bit to find out a way around. She wasn't exactly in the middle of everything. Once she was outside, she realized it was raining, and not bothering to shield herself, she walked purposefully, her path much clearer with no walls. She felt her skirt beginning to stick to her legs, but she continued to walk. Finding a girl, slightly older than she was by the looks of it, she looked her over some. She was certainly the person that Ingrid was looking for. "Miss? I''m sorry, but I don't know your name. Is everything okay? You feel... off. I'm Ingrid, if that helps you. Is there anything I can do to help?" She moaned mentally. She didn't need to babble, or talk too much, just enough to let the girl know she was there, willing, and able to help. She hoped the girl saw her, and wasn't too upset at her being there.

Mikayla nodded in response to his question before she realised he couldn't see her if he wasn't there. "Yes," she whispered into the phone, for her throat was now so tight from a threatening sob that she could barely speak. "Just somewhere outside Veritas. I was a-at the ball." She had to bite her lip then, but it did not help. The sob broke through, sounding more painful than she would have liked. "I'm sorry," she said into the phone. She felt bad for crying to him, but she couldn't help it. "I-I'm not okay. Please come," she managed to plead through her tears. She clutched her phone tightly in her hand, now feeling the rain on her skin. That portion of her powers had run out. The storm was feeding off of her emotional energy and she could not figure out how to stop it. The worse the storm got, the more anguished she felt. They were feeding off each other.
"It's raining," she added pathetically into the phone, that was now becoming waterlogged. It crackled with static as her phone began to drown from the water finding its way into the mechanics. "Ethan?" she said, but heard only silence. She pulled the phone from her ear. It was dead. This made her cry even harder. Now she was truly alone out there; she hoped Ethan would get there soon.
After a few minutes she heard the sound of footsteps approaching. By now the rain had thoroughly soaked through her dress and ruined her hair. The flower she had been wearing in her hair was long gone, blown away by the wind and washed away by the rain. She was a mess; she didn't want to be seen by anyone right now; especially someone she didn't know. So when a girl's voice asked her if she was all right, Mikayla shook her head fiercely. "No, but please go away," she said sternly, in the kindest voice she could muster up at the moment. She didn't mean to sound as harsh as she did, but the only person she could stand to be near right now was Ethan, and he was not yet there. "Just go away." She hugged her knees, fully aware of how pathetic and sad she must look, soaked by her own storm, sitting in her ball dress in a dirty puddle. But she didn't want company. She just wanted Ethan. What she wanted least was to think of Gabe and what he had done to make her feel this way, but of course that was impossible.

Ethan held the phone to his ear as he heard her sobs. "I'm coming over ... hello?" He looked at the phone that read "Call Ended". "Damn," he muttered, "something is awfully wrong." Without another moment's thought, Ethan grabbed his rain jacket and ran to his car. "Now where did I put my key- aha!" Ethan smirked a little as he pulled out his keys from the back of his jeans. With a 'click' the door to his car unlocked and he jumped right in. His hair was soaked by this time, for he had forgotten to pull up the hood of the jacket, but he didn't care right now. His focus at the moment was to secure Mikayla's safety, and everyone else's in case this storm gets out of control and floods all of Cranbrook.
Ethan literally sped out of the driveway, nearly almost running into the ditch, but that didn't faze him much as he pressed on the gas to reach Veritas faster. The rain pounded on his windshield, making it very difficult to see even with the setting on 'fast'. Once he did arrive, he immediately spotted Mikayla drowning in tears and the rain. Ethan stumbled out of the car from how the rain had gotten heavier since he was at Spiritus ... a lot. "Mikayla!" he shouted through the rain as loud as he could, running to her side. "Mikayla, what's wrong? What happened?" Ethan touched her shoulder to show that he was right next to her now, though he wanted to wipe away the tears that were falling down her cheeks, or was that the rain too? He couldn't be sure, but before he could even think twice he reached up and wiped several tears and rain away from her face.

The longer she was outside, the worse she got. She was scared. If Ethan didn't find her how long would she be outside for? Eventually she would collapse from the exhaustion of using her powers. Then what would happen? Would she freeze out there? Would the ground open up and swallow her in, leaving her to never be seen again? She began to shiver uncontrollably, both from the freezing night air and the thoughts that spun wildly in her mind. She was going to get sick; she could already tell. She would rather that than death. Please let Ethan find me, she thought deperately, over and over again.
Suddenly someone was shouting her voice, cutting sharply through the rain. She barely heard it over the loud cracks of thunder overhead, but there was no mistaking that accent. "Ethan," she managed to say, her voice hoarse. Tears still fell from her eyes, mixing in with her rain, but the sobs had died away. After he wiped the tears from her face, she threw her arms around him, grateful that she was no longer alone out there. "You found me!" she gasped, a new wave of sobs racking her body. "I'm s-so cold." She didn't want to talk about what was wrong. Not now. She wanted to be inside. Somewhere warm. Ethan had gotten there pretty quickly; had he walked? She didn't think that was possible; his power was healing, not super speed. "C-can we just go?" she asked him, trying to stand up.

Monroe knew that Adaryn felt a little uneasy about this whole thing. The crowd and horribly seductive dancing was only making it worse and it wasn't as if it was his favorite thing to do either, so he was glad to lead her off of the dance floor and over to the sidelines. Once he could hear her over the music, he chuckled. "Yeah...hormonal teenagers with powers? Double whammy." He smiled at her, and then his face fell when he noticed just how she looked. Something was really bothering her. She almost looked...scared. "Where would we go?" he asked. Did she want to leave already? He supposed he really wouldn't mind leaving, but...still, something was wrong. "Are you alright? What's up?"
----------------------
"You're so full of yourself," Tanner managed to shout over the music so she could hear, but he grinned anyway. It was always in good fun. "You know, I have to be the one to stop fueling your ego. It's getting to be too much." But he let Skylar have her fun and moved his body as well, trying to loosen up and get lost in the music with her. Nevermind that she was practically grinding on him, Tanner knew not to take things seriously with Skylar. He wasn't sure he could, or that she had a 'serious' function.
Just then he heard her swear as her eyes panned the auditorium. "Uh, Sky? What's up?" he asked her, a little concern in his voice as he tried to follow her gaze.

Ethan's eyes widened when Mikayla gave him that hug that could knock you over on your back. Thankfully, he was strong enough to keep himself up as he hugged her back. She was shivering, a lot, and she seemed to be a little weak. "Come on," he said to her softly, "I'll take you back to my office ..." Ethan was dripping wet by this point, and the rain even got through his rain jacket. Without a moment's loss, he helped her back up on her feet, but kept an arm around her to keep her from getting any colder. As they walked to where he parked his car, he began to rummage through his pockets for the keys. "Oh now come on ... I know I left them- Oh here they are." Ethan pulled out his keys, which were yet again in his back pocket. "I'd lose my head if it wasn't screwed on my shoulders." He was trying to be funny. To make her smile the very least. It hurt him to see her so sad.
When he finally managed to unlock the car and open the passenger side of the car, the rain had began to calm down a little. Maybe because she wasn't sobbing anymore? He didn't know. Ethan climbed in the driver's seat and slowly backed out of the driveway. "Mikayla," he began, "what happened that made you so upset?" He wasn't gonna pry if she told him that she didn't want to talk about it, but maybe it would help her calm down a little? It was worth the try.

Mikayla nodded as he helped her to her feet, and fell silent as he led her across the grounds to his car. Ah. So that was how he had gotten there so soon. She was glad they would not have to walk back through the rain. Her rain. She managed a twitch of a smile when he tried for a joke, but she really wasn't in the smiling mood, much less a laughing one. The weather was proof of that.
She thanked him quietly when he helped her into the car, but immediately felt bad when she realised she was soaking his car. "I'm all wet," she said sadly and apologetically when he began to drive the car away from the school. He asked about what had made her so upset. Of course he asked, but Mikayla wasn't ready. So instead of speaking, she shook her head and covered her mouth with her hands, quietly crying into her palms while the rain fell against the windsheild. She listened to the sound of the wipers clearing the windsheild repeatedly, and felt bad that Ethan had to drive in such terrible weather. She owed him an explanation for this.
It was not until the car pulled to a stop outside of Spiritus that she was finally able to pull her hands from her face and speak. And when she did, her voice was just a whisper, her tone defeated. "Gabe lied to me," she said. And once the words we out, she realised just how much it hurt. And it hurt because he meant something to her. Gabe meant a lot to her. I love him, she realised. Mikayla shivered.

"Oh, I'm not worried at all," Gavin drawled. She was coming along quite nicely, she was letting go. She wasn't uptight anymore. Not that girl he'd seen at so many swim suits. Sure, she still had the wicked swimmer's body and the looks, but they were only enhanced by her devilish confidence. It was hot. So hot. But he wouldn't give in to her. No, if this was a game, if she was trying to drive him crazy, then...Gavin didn't lose. Gavin played just as hard, just like any swim meet against Veritas. He'd give it his all. But he did have to admit that the way she was grinding up against him was driving him a little crazy, in more ways than one, but he only moved his hands up and down her body, feeling every curve as she danced up against him.
"Haven't you heard?" he asked in a whisper, leaning down close to her ear. "I make all of the good girls go bad." He grinned and pulled away.
----------------
"Yeah, you've had enough," Keyla told Byron who was still acting really weird, although somehow it was amusing her. She didn't think they had a water bowl but there was probably a water fountain in the hallway. She grabbed him a punch glass and with her other arm, grabbed his, and pulled him along towards the doors. "Please tell me you don't drink alcohol often... because you don't handle it too well." She smirked slightly when she said it.

Aura wanted him to grab her. To grasp her arms or her shoulders or her waist and pull her forefully to him. To push her up against a wall and tease her with his breath on her skin, holding her hands high above her head so she couldn't touch him. But clearly she wasn't getting what she wanted. They were still playing games, and both were determined to win.
When he whispered in her ear, she grinned and dipped to the ground, twisting around as she was momentarily crouched so that when she stood back up, she was facing him. Their faces extremely close. "You sure do," she said back to him, not about to let him get away so easily. She bit her lip and stared longingly and lustfully at him, but before she could say or do anything else, a voice interrupted.

Adaryn
Monroe was smiling, completely oblivious as to what she was feeling, or so she thought. His face fell instantly once he saw something change in her. Dang! She thought she was at least hiding it decently. It wasn't fair that he could see everything she felt. He wasn't the empath, and yet he acted like one. Adaryn gave him a reassuring smile that was as fake as half the girls in the room. "Hey, I'm fine!" She laughed.
Should she really let him know that she is feeling these things around you? Hearing voices? As much as Monroe had no room to talk about seeming crazy, and in no way did she mean that as a bad thing, she still didn't want him to be freaked out. Yes, Adaryn told him that she would let him in and she wouldn't hide anything, but she couldn't seem to keep that promise. What this was seemed dangerous in real life now, and not just in dreams. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just think Eloise should be here. We are best friends, right? Maybe you can go find her and I'll just stay right here?" She was getting out of here to keep them all safe.
Skylar
"Well looking so shocked like you did when I just kissed you actually fuels my ego ten fold." In all honesty, she wasn't trying to get him to boost her ego. That was definitely big enough, but she wanted him to just stick around her. They were best friends and she had to keep this bad boy's interests somehow! It just turned out to mean she had to flirt with him all the time. Though she really didn't have much of a problem with that, he was a gorgeous man.
But she saw Gavin, and everything seemed to slow. Anger and hatred and everything in between came bubbling up inside her. "I'll be right back, Hot stuff." Skye bit her lip and moved away from Tanner without looking back. Making her way over, she called out to her swim mate. "Aura!" There was a hint of anger in her tone. "Looking hot, as always!" She was sure to have her back turned to her brother, quick not to look his way. "I didn't see you come in."
