"I don't usually write anything," Marley said with a shrug. "I usually paint things. LIke.. drawings. Paintings. not words because words suck." She believe this with all her heart. Words hurt just was much as physical pain. The words people had said to her hurt just as much as the punches they threw or the cuts they gave her. "I dunno... skylines and castles or... trees or whatever the hell I feel like"
Marley raised an eyebrow at the boys irrisistable comment. "It must be the douchebag hair do," she said positively. "Most girls are dumb enough to fall for the guy with the most product in his hair," she said with a shrug. "I don't get it, I see it more as a fire hazard."

"Who would have guessed that you're artsy?" Everett chuckled. "So, it's like...meaningful vandalism?" That's how she seemed to be describing it. At least he could appreciate art, but he guessed he'd probably paint a comic book scene on a wall if he was going to vandalize.
He crossed his arms. "Douche bag hairdo? Just so you know, I barely use any gel and if you want to meet a real douche bag, there are plenty at Spiritus." She was probably just trying to get to him, but he'd heard worse about him, so it wasn't all that bad.
He was about to make another comment when he heard a rumbling in the distance. It sounded like thunder. Shit. There couldn't be a storm on the way.

"Plenty at Veritas too, trust me," Marley said. There were too many douchebags in the world. Too many for Marley to handle. Which is part of the reason she was so defensive. If she could get them to go away then it was better for her.
The boy looked as if her were going to make another comment when there was thunder in the distance. He sort of jumped and Marley chuckled "Afraid of a little thunder?" she asked witha slight smirk on her face. "Oh wait..." she added, actually thinking about it "You're probably scared of the lighting," she said with another smirk, remembering the boys power and wondering what effect a lighting storm had on him.
But that gave Marley the chance to have her fun. With a bit of focus she made one of the light bulbs behind her burn so bright that it exploded with a bright flash of light and sparks, just after she had said the word 'lightning'.

"You'd hate to meet the captain of the Spiritus swim team. Now that is a douche bag," Everett said, rolling his eyes, thinking of the guy. Everyone was scared shitless of him, and honestly Everett wanted to electrocute him from time to time, but that was only something that stayed a thought.
He sent her a glare when she made a comment about the thunder. "I'm not afraid of thunder. But thunder means that lightning isn't far behind." Storms made his power go haywire and things could get dangerous. He should probably head back to campus, but he didn't like the smirk on the girl's face. And just when he was about to speak again, a lightbulb behind them shattered.
He hadn't done that, had he? No...he was fairly in control right now, wasn't he? "Okay, what's the deal? Do we have the same power or something?" he asked, confused.

"Nope," Marley said still smiling slightly at the look on the boys face. She focused some more and sent a nearby rock whizzing through the air and into another one of the streetlights, causing it to break in a flurry of sparks and shattered glass. "Not quite," she added, now taking back in some energy from her surroundings. There were plenty of trees around that she could just feed energy from, so in this location it wasn't too hard for her to use her power as much as she wanted without letting it lose control.
"Why are you so jumpy?" Marley asked, her smirk disappearing and now actually wondering what this kids problem was with storms. She was sure that they affected him, but what would they really do?

Everett's gaze followed the rock flying through the air, his head whipping to the side to see another lightbulb shatter. He crossed his arms as she denied having his power. It seemed similar. But he couldn't identify it and he was already feeling strange from the storm approaching. He felt a few rain drops fall onto his face.
"So...what? You can break things?" he asked, confused. "Nevermind...look, storms and electricity just are not a good combination. I'm like a walking lightning rod. I could kill myself or someone else." He didn't expect her to understand how dangerous it was.

Marley could see the panic laced throughout Everett. She rolled her eyes. She was going to have to do the right thing here wasn't she? The storm was rolling in too fast. "Alright, Calm the fuck down." she said, draining her energy into the forest behind her, many of the trees seemingly springing to life, leaves spontaneously growing. She put a hand on Everett's shoulder and began to drain him of his energy. Because it was electric it emitted through Marley in the form of light. She was glowing brighter than the streetlights around them. She didn't do it for too long, just enough so that his energy levels seemed to match that of a normal person. Then she took back her own energy from the trees. She didn't need to combust while trying to drain the kid of some of his electric energy.
"There," she said, slightly tired from the transitions. "I drained enough of your energy for you to make it back to town before you become a lightning rod again. So I guess your stuck joining me for coffee." She didn't have enough in her to take away enough for him to make it back to Spiritus. She wish she did. Then she'd be able to enjoy her coffee in peace.

Everett was normally a lot calmer, but when it came to storms, he just lost it. Marley was getting annoyed with him, he could tell that much. And then she put a hand on his shoulder. "What are you--" he asked, cutting himself short when he felt it. Energy was leaving him. "Are you absorbing my energy?" So that's what her power had to deal with. When she was done and removed her hand from him, he felt less keyed up.
He looked at her, as if he was trying to figure her out. The process seemed to make her tired. "Thanks, I think..." he mumbled, before looking up at the sky as more rain began to fall. He supposed he had no choice, but to wait it out somewhere until the storm cleared up. "Coffee it is."

Marley shrugged, and turned to start walking toward town, knowing that he'd follow along simply because hes wouldn't want to be in the storm. "I'm and energy bender," Marley explained knowing that he was still confused about her. The look on his face was enough to tell her that. "I can transfer energy into and out of objects. I can make shit explode and fly around and I can make light and sound and heat. I can absorb energy too, obviously." She hoped that cleared it up slightly. She still wasn't sure the full extent of her powers. But she had learned enough to mostly control what she knew she could do. She could take the boys energy and release it to relieve him. She could absorb more energy from the storm and the trees as she walked to regain her own strength. That happened pretty naturally. "So now that you know you can stop looking at me like a science experiment."

"Dude, you're like...Marley...the last Energy Bender. Or maybe you're not the last one. I don't know, but you could so definitely make a badass comic book out of this." Everett realized he was rambling, but it was in his personality. and now that he understood her power, it was interesting to him and could greatly help him, as she just did by absorbing some of his energy. He followed her down the path, towards the coffee shop in the town. "You're not half bad, you know. It's nice that you don't wish death upon douchebags like me." He grinned at her back as she walked, wondering more about her power.
"And sorry if I find your power interesting."

"Yeah if I was half bad I'd let you fry in the lightning storm and then sell Everett Jerky to the Veritas jocks," Marley said, kind of wishing she had gone with that plan. Her eyes never wavered from in front of her, especially since this guy had suddenly become super interested in her and her power. Marley never liked attention and probably never would. "Unfortunatly I'm only about 40% bad ever since they 'fixed' me so I have to take pity on douchbags and morons instead of throwing them down wells or pushing them in front of buses like I used to." Everything she said was a joke, of course, even though she was supposed to be 'fixed' and her anger issues had subsided significantly since she was slightly younger. But her past still haunted her, and she was still pretty angry.

"Well, I'm glad your conscience kept you from turning me into some sort of profit for yourself," Everett replied. "And, impressive. Your anger to 'don't give a fuck' ratio seems off though. Shouldn't you be at 50 percent for both?" He took everything she said as a joke, whether or not she was serious, because that's how he operated. Life was easier that way anyway. Living life lighthearted and as if it was all merely just one big joke was the way he did things. You didn't get offended. Nothing could touch you. And by looking at things through this perspective, Marley was hilarious.
"I'm not sure which option I'd rather take. Being thrown down a well or thrown in front of a bus..." he mumbled, as if it was a game of 'Would you rather?' But when he thought about it, being thrown in a well sounded less painful... "Nevermind, I'll take the well," he decided as the neared the coffee shop, Everett walking a little too quickly, a habit when a storm was brewing.

Marley couldn't help but compare Everett to a hyperactive puppy or a small child with ADHD. He never seemed to shut up. Marley usually could care less. She was pretty good at listening to others since she didn't like to reveal a lot about herself. However, when she was listening to the mad ramblings of a human/chiwawa hybrid, she wasn't quite sure she was ok with listening. So for the most part she tuned Everett out on the way to the coffee shop.
"Alright... you're not allowed to have anything with caffeine," Marley told Everett when she opened the door to the shop. "I've already basically had enough of you and if caffeine somehow gets you even more hyped up then things might start exploding." Tim Horton's probably wouldn't appreciate that too much.

Everett frowned when she didn't reply, merely walking along. He wondered if she'd even listened to a word he'd said. "No caffeine?" he asked, feigning a gasp as he followed her inside the coffee shop, letting the door swing shut behind them. "You know, it's not a new thing for people to be annoyed by me. So I'm not bothered by it. I could talk your ear off all night," he said, drawling out the last two words with a grin.
He slid into a booth, taking off his backpack that held his comic books, cell phone and some crumpled up papers that were probably neglected homework assignments and leaned back. "Who are you to control my caffeine intake anyway? My mother? What if I want an espresso shot?" He was amused at the fact that he seemed to be doing all of the talking except for when Marley spoke up to insult him.

Marley rubbed her temples as he continued to ramble. The kid probably could talk her ear off, but Marley guessed all that energy had to go somewhere. And since she had drained him of a lot of it, he was hyped up since it was rebuilding. "You really like the sound of your own voice don't you?" Marley asked half serious.
She took her hair and braided it to one side, letting her bangs stay over her left eye hiding the scar she hated talking about. "If you get an espresso shot then I'm going to put all that energy back into you and you're pretty much going to explode."
